FORMER NWA PRESIDENT HOWARD BRODY REVIVING RING WARRIORS

By Mike Johnson on 2011-09-16 20:21:05
The following press release was issued tonight:

Former NWA President Announces Formation of New Wrestling Company

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Former National Wrestling Alliance President Howard T. Brody, former NWA World Tag Team Champion Larry Brannon (a.k.a. Vito DeNucci) and longtime pro wrestling supporter and Fortune 500 business executive Paul Jones, today announced the formation of a new wrestling company – Ring Warriors, LLC.

Based in South Florida, the plan for the new organization is to run shows across the Sunshine State and throughout parts of the Caribbean under the “Ring Warriors” banner. Their inaugural event is scheduled to take place mid-November with an announcement outlining the details forthcoming.

Jones, who has held positions as a corporate executive in the financial and loss prevention sectors for some of the largest retail and Web based companies in the world during the past 25 years, will serve as Ring Warriors Chief Executive Officer and will oversee all aspects of the company’s day-to-day operations including corporate and legal issues, financial resources, licensing and merchandising.

Brody, who served as NWA president from October 1996 to October 2001, will hold the position of Ring Warriors Chief Operations Officer (Business) and will oversee all aspects of the company’s live events, promotions, sponsorships, marketing, advertising, public relations, communications and all electronic mediums including the Web.

Brannon, a three-time NWA world tag team champion who has owned and/or managed several companies in a variety of customer-facing industries, will serve as Ring Warriors Chief Operations Officer (Talent) and will be responsible for finding and booking talent, matchmaking, creating and writing storylines and executing the creative direction of the company in a strategic manner.

While the short term plan is to run one to two high-profile Ring Warriors events each month, the company would like to expand that to 6 or 8 events each month, with the ultimate goal of producing a weekly television program sometime during the next 12 to 18 months.

It should be noted that the “Ring Warriors” name is not a new one. In the early 1990s Brody was a business partner with the late wrestling great Hiro Matsuda and together they created an Americanized version of New Japan Pro Wrestling for television called “Ring Warriors.” In a relatively short period of time, the Ring Warriors brand became the most successful pro wrestling television brand across the European continent and throughout parts of Asia and Africa, drawing more viewers than either World Championship Wrestling or the World Wrestling Federation. While the goal of Ring Warriors was to eventually create a U.S.-based promotion with the same philosophy and style as what was presented on TV, Matsuda passed away before that goal was realized. Brody, Brannon and Jones intend for this incarnation of Ring Warriors to realize that goal.
