WHAT IF STRIKEFORCE REALLY PUTS A BATISTA-BOBBY LASHLEY FIGHT TOGETHER?

By Buck Woodward on 2010-08-30 12:14:17

In 2008, Bobby Lashley decided to enter the world of Mixed Martial Arts, curbing his professional wrestling career.  Since then, Lashley has amassed a record of 5-1, with four of his victories coming in the first round, and two of those coming in under a minute.  In the two times he went past the first round, he secured a decision win going three rounds with veteran Jason Guida, and suffered a two round loss against Chad Griggs earlier this month when an exhausted and dehydrated Lashley couldn't answer the bell for the third round.  It's not a spectacular record, but given his decision to exit TNA and devote himself exclusively to MMA, you can't say he isn't at least trying to make a new career for himself.

In 2010, Dave Batista exited World Wrestling Entertainment despite coming off what was arguably his best run as a heel with the company.  Originally, all talk was that Batista was looking on exploring an acting career, having already done some work in direct-to-DVD features.  However, word soon came out that Batista was interested in entering MMA, and enrolled in the Caesar Gracie Academy.  Many doubted his intentions to seriously compete, as the 41-year old has had a career riddled with injuries (in the past seven years, Batista has suffered three triceps tears, a torn left biceps, a hamstring tear and a torn muscle in his back).

However, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker has made some noise about possibly bringing in Batista to the company, hoping his wrestling popularity will being a bigger audience to his promotion.  Prior to Lashley's recent loss, there was some discussion of a Batista-Lashley fight, which Lashley seemed less than enthused about.  Now, with Lashley coming off a loss, he might be more inclined to take what would seem on paper to be an easy win, given Batista's lack of experience and injury history.  Obviously, any promotion surrounding the fight would be geared towards wrestling fans (like those of you reading this).  Still, it is all just talk and speculation at this point, but it brings us to today's poll question.

What if Strikeforce did sign a Bobby Lashley vs. Batista MMA fight?  Would you be interested in seeing two former pro wrestling stars have a "real fight" in a cage?  More importantly, would you pay to see it?  This leads to today's question:

Would you pay to see Bobby Lashley vs. Batista in an MMA fight?

Yes, absolutely.
Nope, no chance.
Maybe, depending on the price.
