KEVIN NASH, JIM CORNETTE COMMENT ON WHETHER THEY'D BE INTERESTED IN BOOKING TNA AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2009-08-12 10:29:18
Jeff Wilen from the Daytona Beach News-Journal interviewed Kevin Nash about his contest to find a valet (which I wouldn't be shocked to turn out to just be an angle to introduce a former WWE Diva) and a number of other topics.  When asked about Jeff Jarrett's status with the company, Nash commented, ""I really don't know. They've keep the boys pretty much out of the loop. I've asked Dixie (Carter) and I got a 'don't ask, this doesn't concern you look.' And it doesn't. Kurt's my friend, Jeff's my friend. And I keep my nose out of it and keep my mouth shut.''  You can read the entire piece by clicking here

Nash was asked about whether he'd want the TNA booking position by Newsday and responded, "‘I have a 13-year-old son who needs a father way more than TNA needs a booker… I don’t do anything half-assed. If you put me in there, it means I’m thinking about it 24/7. You have to, because when you’re lying there in the sun, you get an idea and it’s like, ‘God, that’s way better than I thought.’ And you’ve got to get up and you’ve got to write it down. And you’ve got to change in and so on. I’m really good friends with [Vince] Russo. And I see what he has to go through and the situation that happened where kind of right before the pay per view, some political things go down, and he’s left with a show with a bunch of gaps in it and he’s got to do his best to fill it. And those are the things that take years off your life. And at this point, right now, like what we talked about earlier – I’m closer to dying. So, I don’t need the stress and they can’t put enough zeros at the end of my paycheck."

Nash did a lot of mainstream media interviews in the last few days to promote Hard Justice.

Speaking of the TNA booking job, here is an excerpt from the PWInsider.com Elite recap of the Jim Cornette question and answer session in Charlotte, NC regarding that situation:

Cornette then began ranting about how wrestling is too funny and tried to be funny when in the past, fans found humor in things performers did as opposed to trying over the top to be funny.  He said in the old days, when he cut promos about Magnum or Dusty or the Rock N' Roll Express, some people may have thought he was funny, but the most thought he needed to get his head handed to him and they would come buy a ticket.

Chris Cruise asked him about those comments and asked if TNA was included.  He said that he never mentioned those letters and laughed.  He said he hasn't been offered the booking job and doesn't know if he'd ever want it if he was offered.  He said that even if he doesn't agree with everything the company does, he feels appreciated when he's there.  He says Vince McMahon has a fascination with trying to hurt and run down people who have been loyal to him like Howard Finkel and Jim Ross.  In TNA, the atmosphere is different.  He said that the younger guys who are getting the chance to get their feet wet on national television are company guys and will work hard and do what they are asked whether they agree with it or not.  He praised all the production people he works with there.  He asked how miserable do you have to be if you quit WWE before you have another job offer, like Taz or people who weren't appreciated, like Victoria.  He said he is assuming some of them are coming for less money and a smaller work schedule because it's a chance to be somewhere where people appreciate you.

In regard to the TNA booking job, Cornette said he's decided to never say never.  Fans began chanting "Take the job."  Cornette said he hasn't been offered the job and joked that fans should send the tape out.  He said the only things he's decided in life is to never work for Vince McMahon ever again "because he screwed me and I don't like him and f*** him anyway" and to never fly again.  He said every time he feels like he should re-think that rule, something happens like a plane crashing into the Hudson River or the top of a plane ripping apart while the pilots fly 45 minutes away to land.  Cornette then went off on air travel and the procedures one has to go through to get on a plane.
