JOHN CENA '12 ROUNDS' DVD SIGNING REPORT FROM CALIFORNIA

By Michael Tavares on 2009-07-01 16:25:26
My buddy Jack, his 2-year-old son Jacob and I, Michael Tavares, made the drive from Sacramento, CA to San Bruno, CA (just minutes south west of the San Francisco International Airport and Candelstick Park).

We left Sacramento at around 7:30 a.m. and arrived at the mall in San Bruno at about 9 a.m. There were approximately 100 people in line already. Keep in mind only 350 people with wrist bracelets would be allowed to meet John Cena. After standing in line for nearly 90 minutes we purchased a Blu-ray copy of the 12 Rounds movie. After getting some lunch we got in line with the folks from @TopRopeRadio. We had to stand in a hallway because there were too many people to stand in front of the FYE store inside the mall.

At 12:15 p.m. or so about 100 people were turned away as Paul Blart (dude looked like him anyway) and the rest of the mall security told them that there were no more wristbands.

Cena arrived early at 12:45 p.m. and from what I understand he started early too. No pictures or video were allowed once you approached Cena but I did manage to get a few pictures and a short video. We left FYE at 1:25 p.m. Cena was scheduled to be there from 1-3 p.m.

Cena was very nice as he made eye contact with you and extended his hand out to you first. I liked that a lot because you don't see that kind of thing often.

Despite several hours of driving and several more hours of standing in line, the five seconds or so we got with Cena was well worth it despite not being able to take a quick picture with him, He only signed the 12 Rounds DVD or a poster of it.

I did ask him if he missed his UPW days, but he looked up at me, smiled and said, "Nope, not at all."

Can't blame him since he's in a much better position today but I remember watching him in a UPW-APW event in early 2001 and the talent was pretty good back then with him and Samoa Joe to name a few.
