READ OUR EMAILS: WRESTLING FANS EMBARRASS US AGAIN AS THEY SWARM CHRIS JERICHO'S CAR

Re: What year is it?

It's been a day, but it still boggles my mind. In 2009, a bunch of wrestling fans mobbed a heel's car as he left a show, and a few of them flipped him off or verbally accosted him, and then some geniuses actually got physical with him?

I've always gotten a chuckle out of the stories people like Jim Cornette tell about the early 80's in Mid South, where fans would try to attack wrestlers, and the heels would literally have to fight fans on their way to the locker room. It still seemed silly to me, but at least in the age of kayfabe, you could forgive some people for "believing too much" and getting stupid. The wrestlers certainly weren't doing anything to make fans think otherwise, so it was a two way street.

But seriously, in 2009? Where you can see Chris Jericho on VH1 talking about heavy metal? Do these fans really think Chris Jericho is some sort of diabolical monster who hates everyone in the audience? Don't they get that it is just an act being put on by a performer, who leaves the building and goes back to being a father and husband after the show is done?

Part of me thinks Jericho should get an award for being such a convincing heel that, in 2009, someone would get this upset with his character. And part of me thinks it is absolutely embarrassing that in this day and age of "the curtain being pulled back" that some fans would act this way.

Re: What year is it?

I actually think it wasn't a flashback to the 70s.  It would actually be preferable to what I really think happened.  Here is what I think went down.

Those "fans" were cretins, the kind of people that Colin Cowherd of ESPN radio is referring to when he refers to all wrestling fans as "knuckle draggers".  With brain surgeons like this out there, it makes all of us who are smart enough to spell "IQ", let alone actually have one, look bad.  I just wish that it was legal to neuter these kinds of freaks so that their line would end with them.  These people were obviously lowlife scumbags.  The only horrible thing I can figure out that Jericho did was dis Canada.  If it comes down to the fact that those goofball freaks got upset because a heel wrestler said something to get heat, then in addition to being neutered they should probably be put in quarantine as well.  We don't want that kind of stupid infecting the masses.

On another tangent, most people I spoke with feel that Jericho didn't do anything wrong, which I agree with.  Some have said he should have never gotten out of the car.  What do you think about that?  If it's me, and a mob of freaks have jumped in front of my car and are swarming me, I see two options: get out or run them down.  While Jericho would have done society a favor by motoring over these losers, he would have ended up in jail.  What was he supposed to do, sit in the car and see what the mob had in store for him?  I don't think so.

Re: What year is it?

Yeah, I've seen a lot of people say "The only thing Jericho did wrong was get out of the car" and that baffles me.  So, allowing people to imprison him in his vehicle is okay?  Was he supposed to sit there until the nuts bashed in the windshield and hurt him?  If Jericho had tried to pull away, even slowly, and ended up running over someone, would that have been the "right thing" in the situation?  If it was me, I'd probably have honked the horn and hit the gas.  I also don't get the "Jericho was wrong for hitting people."  If someone shoves you, you're being assaulted.  End of story.

And I honestly don't think everyone that was hanging around were cretins.  Some of that crowd were probably just "star struck" fans looking to get a picture or autograph.  However, the ones who were flipping him off, spitting at him, and putting their hands on his vehicle (and him) are just idiots.  They are an embarrassment to the majority of wrestling fans, who just want to be entertained and enjoy the shows.  Unfortunately, the more media attention this gets, the more people outside of wrestling will see these goofs as an example of the wrestling audience.

And I guess the real bizarre thing is, after his attempts at music and television, Jericho will probably get more mainstream attention for this crap.

I wonder if Jericho will work it into his promo on Raw tonight?

I also like the people who say he was wrong for hitting a woman.  A woman?  Please!  She was part of a mob, dropping F Bombs, spit on him and hit him, from behind no less.  I am sorry, the second she pulled that crap her genitalia stopped mattering in the least to me.  I hope he gave the fleabag a concussion.  She more than deserved it.

I agree with you that the whole group weren't at fault.  Some of them were just normal fans trying to get a picture, an autograph or a look at a WWE star.  That is perfectly fine.  The rest, however, wallow in the shallow end of the gene pool and have no idea how to swim.

I have been asked that by a few readers.  I don't know, to me, I wouldn't.  Given that you KNOW at least one of those lowlifes, you know the pieces of crap that started the whole thing, will try to sue Jericho and WWE.  Me, I wouldn't acknowledge it.  No reason to give the losers any ammunition.

To me, the most amazing thing about this is that we have gone back and forth twice on this and Mike hasn't chimed in.  You would think that he is on a plane back from the TNA PPV or something.

Re: What year is it?

There was a TNA PPV last night?  Funny, everything in TNA seems exactly the same as it was before Sunday....

Well, that is what he told me.  I know he went to the Orlando/Tampa area, which is famous for Disney World and strip clubs.  Maybe he got a lap dance from Daisy Duck.
