USA, once again, placed first for the week ending August 3 as both the top cable network in primetime in total viewers and the 18 to 49 demographic. While USA has scored big numbers with their original series' Burn Notice, Monk, In Plain Sight, Psych and Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Raw was their only show to make the top tem in the 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 demographics. The two hours of Raw finished 6th and 9th respectively for the week.
BJ Eaglesfield reporting. ... Shane McMahon will appear on the Opie and Anthony Show on Friday to be the special guest judge in their Summerslam contest. He'll most likely be on the XM side of the show which starts at 9am on XM 202. O&A are holding a contest in which people cut wrestling promos on two of their producers, Sam and E-Rock, with the winner getting an all expenses paid trip to Indianapolis for Summerslam.
Frank Wilson reporting. ... CNNMoney.com has a brief article up about Meredith Whitney, JBL's wife, that puts over both her and her husband's antics on RAW. Patricia Sellers, Fortune's editor-at-large, writes: "Given the fact that his wife made Fortune’s cover, maybe he was destined to win last night’s wrestling competition — by falling on his opponent, world heavyweight champion CM Punk, with one second remaining. Do you think this is rigged, or what?"
The Miz and John Morrison will be appearing in studio on Joe McDonnell Experience on AM 570 KLAC Friday night from 7:30-8:30 PT. Joe is a good guy and knows his wrestling so this should be a great appearance.
Eric Sturrock reporting. ... On the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night, Brian Herzlinger, an independent film maker/Actor from "My Date with Drew", went to Comic Con and interviewed people. He talked to Ken Kennedy. Kennedy did the "Kennedy...Kennedy" deal and was on for about 30 seconds. Kennedy said that Behind Enemy Lines III was a family movie. Brian asked what it's rated and Kennedy said PG-13. Brian asked Kennedy, "Do yo u kill anyone in the movie?" Kennedy said yes, a few people, its a family movie. They showed a clip from movie where Kennedy shoots a gun at a man holding a shotgun and the bullet (from Kennedy) hits the gun and goes into the guy's eye. At the end of Brian segment at Comic Con, he talked to Carmen Electra as Kim Kardashian. Brian asked them about their wrestling scene in "Disaster Movie". Brian mentioned that he just talked to WWE wrestler Mr. Kennedy. Kim got excited and mentioned that she met him at Wrestlemania 24, which she hosted. Brian said Kennedy picked him up. Kim said he tried to do that to me too!
Philadelphia-based rocker Robert Hazard died yesterday at the age of 59 from pancreatic cancer. Hazard is best known for writing Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," which of course led to the "rock and wrestling connection" back in the WWF.
