MORE ROYAL RUMBLE NOTES FROM LIVE IN MSG AND PPV BROADCAST, RAW PREVIEW, NEW UK DVD AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-01-28 10:30:31
One more live note from last night.  If anyone was wondering why the crowd was so dead for the Mike Adamle segments in the building (including the funny moment where he said the crowd was electric as there was no reaction whatsoever), it was because the crowd had no idea who was talking or where he was.  Live, you could see everyone looking to the video screens and looking around, since there was no clear-cut place to pay attention.

I also wanted to point out that it was absolutely hysterical to see Edge get a hero's welcome last night in New York City.  The guy stole the WWE World title and seduced Vickie Guerrero, and walks into Madison Square Garden with a reaction that rivaled Hulk Hogan.  I don't know what that says about my hometown, but it cracked me up.

Raw will be taking place tonight in Philadelphia, PA.  No matches have been announced yet, but WWE is teasing that there will be massive fallout from the Royal Rumble with updates on John Cena returning to earn a main event match at Wrestlemania 24.

Kris Gibson sent the following.....Just as a further notice to Adam’s report, here in the UK , the Royal Rumble was shown on Sky Box Office in SD.  But it was a 4:3 feed, and most of the widescreen shots during the Rumble itself had a lot of the action cut off at the sides.  It was very noticeable during the introductions for the title matches.  Surely WWE and the networks need to get this fixed asap, as they are alienating the majority of their customers.  Especially since this was PPV and not free TV!

A few readers that attended the Royal Rumble last night when it was shown via closed circuit in Canadian movie theatres sent word that they received the HD feed and that it looked absolutely awesome on the screen. John Gallagher wrote, "Now we just need WWE HD in IMAX and my life is complete."

Phil Lowe sent the following....The ‘WWE Live in the UK’ DVD is now available via SilverVision. It’s priced up at £11.99 throughout February before going up to £14.99.
