LIVE NOTES FROM ROYAL RUMBLE PPV

Hey guys, longtime reader and member here. I attended the Royal Rumble tonight, I sat in section 21. I thought it was a very good show, and a lot of fun live in person. I am always really impressed and surprised at the MSG crowd. It's always interesting to see who and what they like and dislike. It really is the greatest place to watch live wrestling. The crowd made the show that much better.
Flair / MVP was a little short, but good, and the crowd was way into both Flair and MVP. These guys work well together, a real nice mix. I can only imagine what they can do if they are given more time. After the match Flair stayed in the ring and got a huge ovation, all while his music played all the way through. He looked genuinely emotional and moved, it seemed like it was the last time we'll see Flair in MSG, and he knew it.
Jericho-JBL was a good brawl, and something different than the rest of the matches on the card. I was surprised to see how much the crowd was into Jericho, despite how badly WWE has handled him since his return. He'll always be a big crowd favorite in New York City.
Edge-Rey Mysterio was pretty good also. The crowd was into Edge big time, you can just feel the respect everyone has for him now. The finish with Vickie and the 619 was great and there was a huge pop for the spear and pin. Tough night for Mysterio.
Santino was really funny, and he caused the loudest chant of the night. "Let's Go Giants!". The whole entire place was chanting, it was really a site to see.
Jeff Hardy / Randy Orton was probably the least entertaining match on the card, although I don't think it mattered and here's why. Number one: it was a decent match, and number two: the crowd was so into the earlier matches on the card that they needed a little chance to calm down before the Rumble match. So it served it's purpose, but wasn't really a standout title match. At points there were big chants for Hardy, and much to my surprise some Orton chants as well. I don't understand how anyone could be a Randy Orton fan, but tonight there were some.
The Rumble match was non stop action. Very dramatic and nostalgic with Undertaker and HBK starting it off together. Michael Buffer as ring announcer was a really nice touch as well. You know he had to cost a lot to get. I kind of liked the entrants every 90 seconds, it kept the momentum going, and never got boring. Crowd went absolutely nuts for HHH, and then crazy again for Cena. The whole ending was very dramatic, and the crowd was in HHH's favor big time. Big boos when Cena won.
Biggest pops of the night:
HHH
Edge
Foley
Flair
