TNA IN TROY, OHIO RESULTS: KURT ANGLE VS. SAMOA JOE AND MORE

By Sam in Ohio on 2008-01-26 12:01:49
Jeremy Borash was the Ring Announcer and was very good at getting the crowd excited and ready for the show.

1-The Motor City Machine Guns beat Elix Skipper and Petey Williams.

2-Shark Boy beat James Storm. There was good comic relief with the match turning into the referee Rudy Charles vs. James Storm with Shark Boy was the Ref. Funny Stuff.  Shark Boy seemed to be very over and won when he gave James Storm the Stunner.

3-Awesome Kong beat Miss Jackie. After that, Awesome Kong gave her spin around back hand to her manager.

4-In what I thought was the match of the night. TNA Tag Team champions Tomko and AJ Styles beat LAX in a great back and forth match. After the match, Tomko got on the Mic and told the crowd that he and AJ were going to the merchandise area to sign autographs and walked right through the crowd.

They went to Intermission as JB was filming some crowd shots for TNA Today for the internet.

5-Johnny Devine beat Black Machismo.

6-Booker T beat Robert Roode. Near the end of the match, the Ref. took a bump and Robert Roode went for a chair Ms. Brooks came out from back and stopped him using the chair only to get hit by Robert. That gave Booker T and the Ref enough time to recoup. and Booker T won with his Scissor Kick.

7-The Main Event was TNA World Champion Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe. Maybe it was the excitement of the main event being changed, as it was originally supposed to be Kurt vs. Booker,  but this match seemed to go way too quick. The ending came when AJ Styles came to the ring and tossed the title into the ring.  Samoa Joe gave chase around the ring and into the ring and Kurt nailed him with the Belt for the pin.  After Joe revived, he used the Muscle Buster on Kurt.  After Joe left Kurt got on the Mic and thanked everyone for coming out and said God Bless us.

After that JB said they had a surprise for the fans and that the TNA Stars was coming back out to ringside and signing Autographs. Inside the ring you could get your picture taken with Kurt Angle for $20.00. I don't pay money for a picture of people or an autograph but there were a lot of people who did. I got several autographs. Ms. Brooks is a lot better looking in person and was extremely nice to everyone. Hernandez was very cool with picking up the smaller kids like he was going to bodyslam them for a picture. I also saw James Storm, Shark Boy, Elix Skipper, J.B., even Earl Hebner. Some said you Screwed Bret which got no response from him.

I estimate the crowd was around 1000-1,300. Which really wasn't bad since Hobart Arena runs their own ticket sales and doesn't use companies like Ticket Master.  Ring Of Honor was running a show just 20 minutes south of their at the same time so that could have hurt sales as ROH has been in the area several times and has their loyal following.  I saw a lot of young kids there and it was a good family show and I hope they made enough revenue so they will come back.
