GENERAL SKANDAR AKBAR TALKS ABOUT SENDING A ROOKIE "UNDERTAKER" MARK CALLAWAY TO RESURRECT JERRY LAWLER

By WorldWrestlingInsanity.com on 2008-01-25 11:08:36
Since October 2005, JG's Radio Free Insanity has welcomed over 100 guests.  From the 1st show with Charlie Haas to the 100th show with Mae Young, every interview has been available to listeners on ClubWWI.com…except for two.  This week, we correct that.

First it was RFI's third guest, Dave Hebner, returning to the Club on Tuesday for a 31 minute interview.  Now, it's the second missing guest rejoining ClubWWI.com for an all new discussion to complete our collection of 100.  Radio Free Insanity's 9th guest, World Class Championship Wrestling Legend General Skandar Akbar has come back to World Wrestling Insanity and he's got plenty to say about his legendary career.  From the night a crazy woman threw her baby at him to the reason why he was forced to wear a bulletproof vest during a card, Akbar talks about it all.

During his time in World Class Championship Wrestling, Mid-South, and other territories, the evil General managed a virtual who's who of wrestling talent through the years.  Men like Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Kamala, One Man Gang, and dozens of others have all done Akbar's bidding.  One such person that Skandar lead early in his career was a rookie by the name of "The Punisher."  His real name is Mark Callaway and he went on to have a legendary career as WWE's Undertaker.  However, Akbar remembers that he was something special even during his early years.

"Mark Callaway.  He was just around here working first and second matches and I had seen the potential that he had and I made him the Punisher, you know. I gave him that idea.  We needed someone for Kerry (Von Erich) to work with until (Jerry) Lawler got here.  This is when (Jerry) Jarrett was down here (in WCCW).  Oh man, I saw that and then Jarrett was coming in from Tennessee and we said we got a guy here.  At that time Lawler was stale and wasn't drawing anything and what we told him was that we got a guy here that'll resurrect him.  Let him do a big angle.  Break Lawler's neck.  Whatever.  But we sent him up there and he got lost in the shuffle.  The same thing with WCW, CCW, and finally the rest is history.  New York picked him up.  But Marky had…I knew the potential that young man had."

The General goes on to talk about managing a young Steve Austin as well as a cavalcade of other topics in his uncut ClubWWI.com shoot interview including: The Best Von Erich, The Night a Woman Threw Her Baby At Him, Why Police Made Him Wear a Bulletproof Vest During a Card, DVDs About World Class Championship Wrestling, Teaming With and Turning On Danny Hodge, Lou Thesz, Working With a Young Undertaker, Managing a Rookie Steve Austin, The GWF Bungee Match, Devastation Inc, Old School Stories, and More.
