UPDATE ON WWE LAWSUIT AGAINST WRESTLEMANIA SPONSOR, BROCK LESNAR COMMENTS ON BOBBY LASHLEY, TOMMY DREAMER, KEVIN THORN & MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-01-25 02:57:23

The Athens Banner-Herald in Georgia reported on WWE's lawsuit against the manufacturers of Wrestlemania 23 sponsor 360 OTC stemming from their failure to pay a $1 million sponsorship fund.  PWInsider.com broke the news of the lawsuit being filed last week.  Gary Coulter, an attorney representing the defendants in the lawsuit, commented,  "I have a habit of not commenting on lawsuits when they are in progress.  I don't try lawsuits in newspapers; we try them in courts."  As it turns out, there are least two other lawsuots currently filed against the company stemming from similar issues.  You can read the Banner-Herald's coverage of the lawsuit at this link.

For those of you interested in Brock Lesnar's UFC debut next month, the Orange Couty Register in California has posted audio from a recent media conference call Lesnar took part in.  During the call, Lesnar declined to talk about WWE, saying he was a UFC fighter now.  When asked about the Bobby Lashley situation and Lashley's interest in MMA, Lesnar said he wasn't aware of the situation.  When Kurt Angle's name was brought up, Lesnar said they were friends, but the reason Angle hasn't made the transition into MMA is that physically, he's past his prime.  You can listen to the call, broken into three parts, by clicking here.

Speaking of Lashley, when fans on his official website's forum were skeptical it was really him posting that he was leaving World Wrestling Entertainment, he offered to personally call them and actually did so, according to a few emails we've received.

Kevin Thorn was back at Ohio Valley Wrestling's TV this week working out his new proposed babyface role.

Jeremiah Evans sent the following....I attended the Tommy Dreamer signing at Gamestop in Manhattan tonight.  I'd estimate about 500-600 fans there.  As an old ECW fan, I realized the former Sign Guy Dudley (who now works for WWE I guess) was with Dreamer and he was really surprised to be recognized but seemed really thrilled and happy that I did.  Dreamer was super nice to everyone as far as I could see.  The funny thing is Dreamer and Rob Van Dam did a signing at the exact same place years ago when the first ECW video game came out during the TNN era.
