JACK EVANS SCHEDULED FOR SURGERY TODAY, ROH RETURNS TO DAYTON, OHIO TONIGHT, REMEMBERING DOUG GENTRY AND MORE

By Mike Johnson on 2008-01-25 01:55:15

Jack Evans is scheduled to undergo surgery today with four plates being inserted into his face.  He's going to be out of action, at minimum, six weeks.  All I have to say is that Evans is one tough SOB because he was the one originally telling ROH that he was willing to wrestle this weekend.

Tomorrow marks the sad anniversary of the passing of Doug Gentry, who was intricately involved in the early era of Ring of Honor.  Gentry passed away far too young at the age of 34 after a bout with a rare bacterial infection of the heart.  Doug was the rare type of person who was well liked by everyone that crossed paths with him and the world would be a much better place if there were a lot more people with his easygoing attitude and heart.  I still get extremely sad thinking about his passing.  It's a stark reminder that life is sometimes far too short and at times, unfair.  If anything can be learned from Doug's passing, it's that you should do everything to take care of yourself, whether healthy or sick.  You never know when the end may come, so make the most of the time you are given.  If there's an old friend you miss or have lost touch with, make the effort to give them a ring today, because sadly, you never know when will be too late, so why take that chance?

A new Japanese star coming into the company is scheduled to be announced this weekend.

Ring of Honor is now taking pre-orders for the DVD release of their fourth PPV, Undeniable, which will be a two DVD set featuring all the dark matches from the Edison, NJ taping of that event.  Also released on DVD at www.rohwrestling.com is Unscripted III (12/1 in Chicago, headlined by The Briscoe Brothers & Erick Stevens vs. Roderick Strong & Rocky Romero & Davey Richards).  ROH is running a Buy 3, Get 1 Free DVD sale this weekend.

Speaking of the Undeniable PPV, it will replay tomorrow at 6 PM Eastern.  You can't go wrong ordering the show for the $10 price tag.
