DOES ANYONE CARE THAT FOLEY IS IN?, INTERVALS FOR THE MATCH AND MORE ON THE ROYAL RUMBLE

By Buck Woodward on 2008-01-22 11:53:48

With Triple H earning a spot in the Royal Rumble last night, Raw now has 10 entrants from their roster involved in the Rumble match itself.  Smackdown has eight entrants at this point, and ECW has four (although at this time, Big Daddy V has still not been added to the official Rumble list).  It seems safe to assume that the final eight entrants will most likely come from Smackdown or ECW.  As I noted yesterday, several top stars, including CM Punk, Chavo Guerrero, Elijah Burke, and Jimmy Yang & Shannon Moore (who actually won a qualifier on a house show that was later ignored by WWE) have yet to be added to the list. I've also gotten an unusual number of emails pointing out to me that Colin Delaney isn't entered yet either.

A few people have noted that since qualifying for the Rumble alongside Hornswoggle, we haven't heard anything on television from Mick Foley regarding his participation in the match, and his appearance is not being pushed at all.  I really don't have a lot to add to that, other than to say that it has become obvious that Foley's frequent "comebacks" don't mean as much to WWE or the fans as they once did.  There definitely is a story that could have been told regarding Foley trying to nab one more Wrestlemania main event by winning the Rumble, but WWE has opted not to tell it.

To answer another question I have received a few times, WWE has given no indication whether any of the wrestlers in singles matches on the Rumble card (MVP, Ric Flair, Chris Jericho, JBL) will be participating in the Rumble.  I don't see it happening, but until the full list of 30 entrants comes out (if it ever comes out), I guess it is always a possibility.

At this time, WWE is advertising that there will be 90-second intervals between entrants at the Rumble, and that the winner will receive a championship match for the title of their choosing at Wrestlemania.

Here is the current lineup for the Royal Rumble:

- World Champion Edge vs. Rey Mysterio.

- WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy.

- U.S. Champion MVP vs. Ric Flair.

- Chris Jericho vs. JBL.
