Today's edition of the Atlanta-Journal Constitution features an article on the connection between Dr. Phil Astin and the late WCW and ECW World Tag Team champion Michael "Johnny Grunge" Durham.
According to the article, Astin wrote 32 of the final 36 prescriptions Durham received in the last year of his life. Astin, who declined to comment, was said to be one of 11 doctors Durham utilized to get prescription medication from 1999 to the time of his passing in February 2006. The final prescription was for 120 somas that were gone by the next day when Durham passed away.
The pharmacy records were provided by Durham's widow Penny.
Astin is currently under indictment for illegally dispensing medication to two patients. Astin was indicted in the wake of the Benoit family tragedy.
