A major name within World Wrestling Entertainment is expected to exit full-time after Wrestlemania 43 next year, PWInsider.com can confirm.
PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources that Bruce Prichard is expected to retire from his position as Executive Director - Creative Writing & Talent (CWT) after Wrestlemania season. We are told Prichard, 63, would remain connected to the company on a consulting basis but would no longer live in Stamford or retain his current duties. One source pegged Wrestlemania as the end of the run, but another cautioned that with pro wrestling being the way it is, there could always be a little leeway on the timeline.
In the 1990s, Prichard was best known to fans on camera as Brother Love but primarily worked behind the scenes directly with Vince McMahon as one of his top lieutenants and producers. Prichard left WWE in 2008 and went on to become the host of one of the most popular pro wrestling podcasts Something to Wrestle With, where Prichard and co-host Conrad Thompson did deep dives into events and personalities from WWE’s history. The podcast became so popular that a version of it was brought to the WWE Network for a series of episodes. JBL often co-hosts the show with Thompson currently, but Prichard does still make appearances.
As PWInsider.com broke at the time, Prichard was brought back to World Wrestling Entertainment full-time in 2019 to work in a top creative position on the creative team, working directly with Vince McMahon and later, Paul Levesque on creative, including running TV tapings when Levesque was not present. The belief is currently that all three writing teams for Raw, Smackdown and NXT fall under Prichards in the hierarchy of WWE. There is no word yet who might succeed Prichard in his current role, but the company has a lot of time to get there before Wrestlemania this Spring.
Prichard originally broke into the business under the legendary Paul Boesch and worked for Impact Wrestling and MLW after exiting WWE in 2008.
