I attended the NXT show at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener, Ontario. The venue holds about 7000 people, but the arena was cut in half for the show. So with the stage setup, I’d estimate 2000-2500 fans. Looked to be about 85% full for what was available. My seat was $53 Cdn. So a pretty good deal these days.
1. Hank & Tank vs. Dark State
Hank & Tank via pinfall.
2. Arianna Grace vs. Lizzy Rain
Lizzy Rain via pinfall despite attempted interference by Birthright. Arianna heeled the crowd on the mic prior to the match.
3. Saquon Shugars vs. Jackson Drake (North American Championship)
Drake retained via pinfall after a distraction by members of Vanity Project
4. Perros Del Mal vs. Kendal Grey
Kendal Grey via pinfall. Perros took the mic after an early exchange and also heeled the crowd. The two Canadian girls made sure they’d get heat, and they did.
5. Deon Lennox (Dark State) vs. Cruz Montana
Cruz Montana via DQ. Cruz was signalling for “ Spin the Block “, other members of Dark State interfered. Hank & Tank made the save. Star reaction for Cruz. He entered through the crowd, which got a massive pop.
6. Vanity Project vs. Los Americanos - NXT Tag Title Match
Vanity Project retained after interference from the other members. Myka Lockwood chokeslammed Bravo ( Tyler Bate ) which led to him taking Vanity’s finisher and the pin.
Match of the night, easily. Bate & Dunn are SO good. Lockwood’s outfit ( all black leather ) and her mannerisms are clearly modelled after Chyna.
7. Izzi Dame vs. Thea Hail vs. Zaria - Triple Threat (North American Championship)
Zaria retained after pinning Hail. Hail is a little firecracker, but she looked so tiny next to the other women. Not a smooth match at certain points. Zaria looks like a star in her appearance and entrance, 100%.
8. Birthright vs. Shiloh Hill, Tavion Heights, Tony D'Angelo, Shawn Spears (8 man tag)
Lexis King took the mic before Spears came out. He said he only saw 3 men on the other team, so he’d help us all learn to count. He counted off the members of birthright, the 3 babyfaces, the ring announcer, so he was at 9. Told the ref he made 9 1/2, cue Shawn Spears music….massive 10 chants from the crowd.
Birthright did the honours after a spear & choke slam by D’Angelo. Spears thanked the crowd after, and indicated it could be his last time wrestling in Canada with WWE.
Take care.
