The TNA Hall of Fame Ceremony is the opening for the Bound For Glory PPV held at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. Tom Hannifan is the master of ceremonies.
Frankie Kazarian is our first presenter and will induct Amazing Red. He met Red in 2001 and was impressed by him immediately, and it was easy to see why Red was an attraction. When TNA started, Red was the face of the X Division and influenced everyone who came afterwards.
We then get a video package of highlights.
Red starts by saying he was just a Spanish kid from Brooklyn, and everyone made this a reality for him. He thanks Frankie. He then thanks Don West for helping him with promos. He says when he started, he didn’t know why he was here, but when people showed up, he knew why he was here.
He thanks Chris DeLine, who got him to shows when he started. Brian XL, the man he made House of Glory with. He thanks his family. He then thanks the fans for making the X Division big. He then says he is in the X Division match later tonight.
Cruz Montana (Mike Santana in TNA) is out next to induct Konnan and says he will be showing something the people here worked hard on, and it’s the video package for Konnan highlights. He says he didn’t write anything because it will come straight from his heart. He says without Konnan, there are no Latino wrestlers and no cruiserweight division of Lucha Libre in the US. Sitting under his learning tree was the most important part of his life.
ODB is inducted by Al Snow and Tracy Brooks. Al says he met ODB at the auditions for the first Tough Enough, and he still remembers the promo she cut because she would be a star. Tracy says that little girls are told to be seen, not heard, and not swear, and ODB ignored all. She says that promoters tried to turn her into someone else, but she refused.
This one is special to me since I remember watching OBC VERY early in her career at First Avenue, teaming with Shawn Davari in a tag team and at a lot of the local wrestling events around the Twin Cities.
ODB says she was a fan of wrestling her whole life. Her parents had their first date at an AWA show. She said she fell in love with wrestling in 1987 watching the Slammy Awards. She then thanked Eddie Sharkey for starting her journey, Al Snow for being a mentor, and Danny Davis for having her in OVW. She thanked the OG Knockouts. She thanked her mom, who is there and her dad, who has passed. She thanked her brother, her nephew, and her husband, Big Al and his daughter, Madison. She thanked Eric Young, Tracy Brooks, Brian and Earl Hebner, Jerry and Jeff Jarrett, and TNA. She then thanked the fans.
