10/2 WRESTLING REVOLVER TALES FROM THE RING IX REPORT FROM DAYTON, OHIO

By David Houston on 2026-10-03 14:10:00

Streaming on Youtube and IWTV, The Wrestling REVOLVER held Tales From the Ring 9 in the Calcumet Center on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in their home city of Dayton, Ohio.

Commentary was handled by regular host Bork Torkelson and Youtube content creator Conman 167 ran it most of the event.  This was not a good commentary performance. I was missing Joe Dombrowski.

Damien Chambers retained the Wrestling REVOLVER championship against former champion Mance Warner, on whom Chambers cashed in a guaranteed title shot in August's Cage of Horrors match (where he pinned Alex Colon, not Warner). Originally, Joseph Sawyer was scheduled for this but he was injured and couldn't be there. This was a No Disqualification match.  Good match. Surprising lack of weapons and plunder.

West Coat Pro Tag champions Aaron Solo and Alan Angels (a former WR tag champion) successfully defended their tag titles in a 4 Corner Mayhem Match against REVOLVER mainstay teams The Production (Katie Arquette, Derek Dillinger), and a pair of former WR tag champions in Latino's Most Wanted (Sabin Gauge, Koda Hernandez) and the very popular Alpha Sig ("Big" Dick Meyers, KC Jacobs).  All action match but never felt like they settled into a rhythm other than "each team gets their stuff in".  Lost even that when Solo started doing stuff with an Arby's bag and some cold curly fries.  They pin Arquette to retain.

AEW star Zachary Wentz of the Rascalz defeated Brent Oakley of the Algorithm for the Remix title in a match of teacher vs student. Oakley chose a standard match with no stipulations.  It was okay when Oakley got Wentz disqualified by pretending he was struck with the title belt as his Algorhithm mate Crash had the ref's attention.  REVOLVER Executive Vice President Phil Stamper restarted the match. Wentz quickly beat him for the title. This was rather underwhelming.

"Blackheart" Lio Rush and the debuting Charles Crowley brought their new undefeated team from PROGRESS in the United Kingdom to WR, beating AEW star Ace Austin and the steadily improving Juni Underwood.  This was fine. Might have landed better if it was on earlier and not following 3 title matches.

"The Blood Fighter" Alex Colon defeated "The Atrocity" Krule (former Major League Wrestling World champion Mads Krule Krugger) in a Coffin match, getting help from Latino's Most Wanted in putting Krule in a huge coffin.  Another match with some hard work but still tops out at "solid".  Hernandez and Gauge coming to Colon's aid probably signals yet another REVOLVER heel faction. They run through these pretty fast.

Gringo Loco won the 24/7 Scramble title in a 7-man Scramble match, outlasting Crash (c) of the Algorithm, the very promising Troy Parker, "Starman" Harley Rock, very funny big man Bigg Pound, and the debuting ROH star Kiren Gray and Midwest-based star Kristian Robinson.  Fast moving bout with a lot of big dives and spots.  Good debut for Robinson.  Crash called for help. Out came a chair-wielding Josh Bishop (I must have missed a show because I didn't know Bishop was in the Algorhitm).  Bishop missed a swing at Loco and connected on Crash.  Loco took Bishop out with that same chair and won after missing a moonsault on Crash.

In a matchup of TNA stars and the one hot feud on the show, BDE beat Algorithm leader, Joe Alonzo (with Josh Bishop) in a one-on-one match. This not having a stipulation was a bit odd, but they had a good match, starting off hot before the bell with Bishop and Alonzo beating BDE down. Bishop stopped one BDE pin by pulling the ref out of the ring. I still hate that spot, but the referee tossed Bishop from ringside so at least there were consequences.

Only good false finish of the show was in this match, looking like Alonzo had pulled it out. BDE forced a submission with a STF, first time I've seen him use that hold.  Bishop, Oakley and Alonzo attack him after the bout with Oakley getting a weird change of heart in mid attack. Alonzo levels him with a chair shot to the back. Alpha Sig makes the save before any more damage can be done to BDE.  We get a big hug with Oakley reuniting with the Alphas and BDE, the turn that started this whole thing.  Felt like the end of the Algorithm. Gone too soon and just as they were taking off.

The New O14K (Trey Miguel, Jake Crist, Zachary Wentz filling in for Rich Swann) won Scaffold Warfare and successfully defending the REVOLVER Tag titles against former champions Tye or Die (Ryan Matthias, Rory Shield filling in for KJ Reynolds, making it an intergender match) and Amazanga.

We get a Rascalz reunion (the only pairing to win World tag titles) and a TNA star teaming with an AEW star. Cool.  There is no point to the scaffolding other than for someone to jump off. The belts are at the top. You don't have to knock anyone off to win. Just there to be there. Entertaining bout with members of both teams getting busted open.  Reynolds got involved so Dezmond Xavier came out to counter him.  They lost me when the Rascalz put Shield in a bodybag and tossing her off the scaffold onto a group of security and staff in the ring, following it by diving on that same group of guys when they stood up. I have no idea why.  The actual match started again with Crist winning the match, pinning Matthias after giving him a Death Valley Driver off the scaffold through a table in the ring.

A show that seemed stuck in second gear until the last two matches, which is a shame since everyone was working really hard. It just wasn't coming together cohesively for me.
