For many WWE fans, watching a wrestling show is no longer something that happens only from the sofa.
Fans are travelling across cities, countries and even continents to experience major WWE events in person. The appeal is understandable. There is something different about being inside an arena with thousands of other people, hearing the entrance music, watching the crowd react and seeing the action unfold only a few metres away.
That connection between wrestling and travel is becoming even more noticeable as WWE continues to take major events to international destinations.
One of the latest examples is Perth, Australia.
WWE has confirmed that Perth will host a three-event weekend in December 2026, with SmackDown scheduled for December 11, Wrestlepalooza: Perth on December 12 and Raw on December 14 at RAC Arena. WWE has also agreed a three-year partnership that will see Perth host a WWE Weekend Takeover featuring a Premium Live Event each year from 2026 through 2028.
For wrestling fans outside Western Australia, that creates an obvious reason to turn an event into a short holiday.
Instead of flying in for one night and leaving, fans can make a weekend of it.
There may be restaurants to try, sights to see, merchandise to browse and plenty of other wrestling fans around the city.
This is part of what makes live wrestling different from watching television.
When fans travel for an event, the match itself becomes only one part of the experience.
The journey starts at the airport. Then comes the hotel, getting around the city, finding somewhere to eat and eventually arriving at the venue. The anticipation builds throughout the day.
And then there is the crowd.
A big wrestling audience has its own energy. Chants can spread around an arena in seconds. Entrance music can trigger an enormous reaction. Even a match that might feel different on television can become much more memorable when experienced alongside thousands of enthusiastic fans.
That can make the trip itself part of the story.
WWE's international schedule has increasingly given fans opportunities to combine wrestling with travel.
Mexico was another notable example in 2026. WWE returned to Mexico City for SmackDown and Raw in September, marking the first time those shows had been held there in 15 years. WWE also scheduled live events in Guadalajara and Monterrey as part of its Mexico tour.
For travelling fans, an event like this can provide an opportunity to experience more than the wrestling show.
Local food, neighbourhoods, landmarks and cultural experiences can all become part of the trip.
That is often what makes travelling for sport so enjoyable. You have a reason to visit, but plenty of opportunities to discover somewhere new once you arrive.
The excitement of a WWE trip can make it easy to focus on tickets and flights while forgetting about smaller expenses.
Food, transport, merchandise, hotel costs and unexpected purchases can quickly add up.
International travellers also need to think about how they will access and carry their money safely. Having a sensible plan before leaving home can make the experience much less stressful.
It can be useful to read practical advice on how to keep your money safe while travelling before heading to an overseas WWE event.
That kind of preparation may not be the most exciting part of planning a wrestling trip.
Still, it matters.
Ask many wrestling fans what they want to buy at a live event and the answer probably will not be complicated.
A shirt.
Maybe a cap. A poster. A championship replica. Something connected to a favourite Superstar.
WWE events often include official merchandise opportunities, and the Perth weekend will feature fan experiences around the city as well as WWE Superstores, meet-and-greets and community activities.
The temptation is obvious.
But travellers should leave some room in the budget for those spontaneous purchases. Nobody wants to discover halfway through a trip that the souvenir they really wanted costs more than expected.
A major WWE event can give fans a reason to travel somewhere they might not otherwise visit.
That is perhaps one of the most interesting things about wrestling's growing international presence.
The destination becomes part of the experience.
A fan travelling to Perth might spend the afternoon exploring the city before heading to the arena. Someone attending a show in Mexico City could combine the event with several days of sightseeing. The wrestling show provides the central attraction, while everything around it creates the wider holiday.
It is not just about who wins the match.
It is about the memories created before and after it.
WWE's schedule shows just how much international travel has become part of the live wrestling experience.
Perth has now secured annual WWE Weekend Takeovers through 2028, while other international markets continue to receive major events and tours.
For fans, that creates more choices.
A wrestling weekend can be a solo trip, a holiday with friends, a family experience or simply an excuse to finally visit a city that has been on the travel list for years.
And perhaps that is the real attraction.
Wrestling gives people something to look forward to. Travel turns that anticipation into an experience they can remember long after the final bell.
