As we noted earlier today, Bleacher Report has inked a deal with WWE to utilize highlights of their programming across the board on their website and social media platforms.
In speaking to a well placed source within WBD this morning, we are told this is a global deal inked by TNT Sports and the deal would not impact or breach any existing deal AEW has with WBD's entertainment side. Based on the way WBD's different divisions operate, Bleacher Report had the ability to enter into this deal.
The WBD source made it clear the company is very happy with their current AEW deal and noted that AEW deal carries exclusivity only in The United States, while the WWE deal is global and similar to similar deals they have with The NFL, NHL, etc.
That source this morning event posited the theory that the WWE deal could be a positive for AEW, since there will be more resources put into covering pro wrestling, which woud include AEW and that the WWE material could help to bring more eyeballs to AEW content.
The source also stated that the WWE deal did not include any agreement that would prevent BR from covering or promoting AEW material.
An official announcement of the BR-WWE deal is forthcoming.
