AEW All Out is tomorrow. Here is our take for what should go down.
Will Ospreay (AEW World Champion) vs. Jon Moxley
Cory - First, there is no way Ospreay should lose the title on his first pay-per-view defense. He is the champion they have been building to for over a year, and he’s just starting his reign. I do think they need this match to figure out what the hell they are doing with Mox. He’s being cheered by fans, has finally settled into his role as the tough guy who only respects other tough guys, but the rest of the Death Riders are pure heels, and the Dogs, who he is aligned with, make the Death Riders look kind. Mox’s promos have felt like he is looking to test Ospreay, which is part of the tough guy image, but not the heel image. Will Mox go back to being an out-and-out heel here?
Richard: Ospreay got the biggest win of his career at All In and I don't think he should be losing the title for a while. How much will Ospreay's time in the Death Riders rehabilitation camp affect this match? Since the Continental Championship is not on the line, iMoxley can lose this match. I hope there are no outside influences on this match. Ospreay retains in a hard fought battle and moves on to his next opponent.
Mike: My feeling is this will be a big moment where after a grizzled fight, Ospreay defeats Moxley, further cementing his ascension as the guy in the company.
Cage and Cope (Christian Cage and Adam Copeland) (AEW Tag Team Champions) vs. FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) - Chairs, Ladders and Table match
Cory - I like the dynamic of Cope being a babyface and Cage being a heel, but because they are old friends, they will work together. This match will be your insane bump car crash, and while I was surprised Cope and Cage retained at All In, I can see them retaining just so they can keep playing with that dynamic as well as line up other tag teams to get a match with them as they go on their final run.
Richard: Should people watch the TLC matches with the Hardys, Dudleys, and E&C to prepare for the number of moves that will be paid tribute to during the match. I assume the Bucks will play the part of the Hardys while the Dudleys will be played by FTR and Cope and Christian play the part of Edge and Christian. This will be a spectacle and might get some of the best reactions from the crowd in Chicago.
Mike: I expect this will be a lot of fun. I don't see Cope and Cage losing to anyone but The Young Bucks, but in my mind, retaining the belts is the way to go.
The Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter) (AEW Women' s Tag Team Champions) vs. Divine Dominion (Lena Kross and Megan Bayne) - Chicago Street Fight
Cory - At least AEW finally figured out the right sequence to have these matches. They start with a normal match and then add stipulations for rematches. AEW still needs to build up the women’s tag team division, and with Divine Dominion on top, it’s hard to have a new team as challengers due to their size and style. The Birds should win, and the Dominion should move to singles matches. This might be the night to give the titles to the Bucks to cement their legacy in the pantheon of tag team wrestling.
Richard: There are two things I want to see in this match. First, Megan Bayne has to wear her tribute to the dinner scene in The Ref hat for the entire match. Second, I would love to see the crowd do a USA chant (I was there for the chant during a Christian Cage/Bobby Roode match in TNA). There will be some good violence between the two teams since it is a 'Street Fight' (but how is that different from the way the refs handle every other AEW match?) I say Windsor and Hayter retain.
Mike: I expect this will be an entertaining brawl. I would not be shocked to see the titles switch back to the Dominion.
Thekla vs. Willow Nightingale - Winner gets a women’s title match at WrestleDream.
Cory - I love Willow, but we’ve seen her and Mercedes Mone a few times. Thekla should win here, and her promos with Mone will be outstanding.
Richard: If this was WWE, this would be an obvious Double DQ or No Contest to set up a 'When in Doubt . . . Triple Threat it out' match in Orlando. It feels like it is time for Willow to take a step back in the women's division and let Thekla get her shot on top again. Thekla wins a tough match to move on to Mone.
Mike:Thekla vs. Mone is our destiny. I think Willow is great, but I don't see her winning hre.
Darby Allin and Steven Borden vs. The Don Callis Family (Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher) - Winner gets a tag team title match
Cory - First, please please please stop with the hints that Borden will join the Don Callis Family. Borden is green and needs to work as a white meat babyface for a while because his dad didn’t work as a heel, so he might not either. Second, is there any world where Borden should lose his first big PPV match? No. Keep up with Kyle looking to break from the Don Callis family (and hopefully remain heel) and have Knight cost them the match.
Richard: I am not a fan of Kevin Knight as part of the Thumb Collective, but at least he is paired with Kyle instead of the B, C, or M level parts of the faction. They are putting Borden in a high profile feud but this is a good way to see if he will sink or swim in these situations. Darby will be ripped in half like Juggernaut did to Deadpool, but still survive situations that would be the end for most other wrestlers. Borden gets Knight to tap out to the Scorpion Death Lock.
Mike: This is a big moment for Steven Borden. I suspect he and Darby win.
Kazuchika Okada (International Champion) vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Cory - I look for this to be a great match, especially if Okada matches Ciampa’s style. Again, this is Okada’s first defense of his title at a PPV, so I expect him to win.
Richard: A Ciampa win would be nice to see, but I don't know if it will happen on Saturday night. I think Okada retains and he goes back into the Takeshita/Fletcher vortex.
Mike: This should be really good on paper. I don't see a title change.
Andrade El Ídolo (National Champion) vs. Pac
Cory - This is the match I'm most looking forward to. In Andrade’s first run, I didn’t see why he was a big deal, and he never clicked for me when he was in WWE, but returning to AEW after being let go by WWE, he has been working like a man with something to prove. Pac ALWAYS wrestles with intensity, and having these two go at it should be a smash-mouth brawl that Andrade should win.
Richard: This has the chance to steal the show and it might. SInce Andrade was able to escape the grip of Callis, he has been on a roll. He has a future World Title match so I don't see him losing too much before he gets his match against Ospreay so I guess that means the Friendship circle does not get a title on this show. Andrade retains.
Mike: I am with Richard. This could very much steal the show. Andrade retains.
Jack Perry vs. Katsuyori Shibata
Cory - Perry’s new “I need to beat every former champ” gimmick does nothing for me, but they are positioning this match as he has to beat Shibata to get to Samoa Joe, so he will beat Shibata to get to Samoa Joe.
Richard: This match feels like one of the 'Tony Khan has two darts and a dartboard so here is your match'. match. I have not cared about Jack's character for a long time and this match won't change my feeling. Perry will will because he is wrestling in the same metropolitan area as CM Punk on Saturday night.
Mike: It only makes sense that Perry wins given the story they are telling.
Swerve Strickland and The New Level (Austin Creed and Kofi) (AEW Trios Championship) vs. "Hangman" Adam Page and Brodido (Brody King and Bandido)
Cory - As Dynamite showed, there is a lot they can do with Swerve and the New Level. I don’t think it would be a good idea to take the titles off them on the first pay-per-view after they win the titles (a consequence of having so many title changes last month). I look for them to retain.
Richard: I don't see Tony taking the titles off Swerve and the Level Guys after their debut as a team at All In. There will be a lot of interesting action in this match but I think we might be getting to the end of the Pagedido team.
Mike: No way there's a title change here.
Bang Bang Gang (Jay White, Ace Austin, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn) (with Juice Robinson) vs. Death Riders (Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta) and The Dogs (David Finlay and Clark Connors) - Tornado Tailgate Brawl
Cory - Juice Robinson said it best in his promo announcing this. The Bang Bang Gang has not had a good win-loss record, and if they don’t start getting some wins soon, they will be thought of as losers by the fans. The ONLY good thing about that might be the Gunns breaking out on their own, but this kind of feels like a do-or-die match to me. The Bang Bang Gang gets the win.
Richard: Welcome to the 'We Have a Lot of People on the Roster' match. This is a tornado match so Cory, you have my prayers to do the coverage for this match. Eight men doing whatever they want, with Juice Robinson and whatever secondary members of the other two teams who are not in this match, they could have 40 referees and they still would not be able to control things. Let the Gunns and friends get the win because why not.
Mike: I expect the Death Riders and friends to win.
Persephone (AEW TBS Champion) vs. TBA
Cory - Will this be where a new arrival shows up? Will it be the return of someone who’s been away for a while? In my hopes, I want it to be the return of Toni Storm, because she is sorely missed. But when she does come back, it will be for the World title. I am going out on a limb and guessing it will be Britt Baker, who has been using Persephone to get the title, but who knows?
Richard: Maybe they use this for a surprise we did not expect for someone who has not been on AEW television for a while. What if the open challenger ends up being Britt Baker, who screws over Persephone because she is Britt Baker (and I did not look at what Cory wrote until I was done so it is a coincidence)
Mike: My guess is this is where Mara Sade debuts.
