So, WWE had true momentum for Solo Sikoa and this past week on Raw, he refused to help the Bloodline by basically saying he wouldn't be Roman's b**** by acknowledging him, then gets kidnapped, loses his main event match and shot at Money in the Bank, then is treated like a b**** by Royce Keys and friend and left to go walk home from the middle of nowhere? Why is this guy being booked like he's such a loser?
I don't have any real answer for you. It's just not great creative at the moment. I would have preferred we just saw they beat the hell out of Solo three to one, since then you can have sympathy for him. It's hard to have sympathy for him the way they handled this.
Are we looking towards a box office bomb for Street Fighter? The film is nowhere close to being released after months of promotion and all I see are all sorts of offers to fans coming the opening weekend. I feel like they know they are tracking low and trying to save themselves before the inevitable drop at the ticket booth.
I don't have any insight into it. My feeling is you have to do every single thing you need to do to promote the film when it is coming out and I think they have done a lot to get it out before the eyes of those who go to the movies. Can they tap into video game fans? I don't know. The promotions you mention happen all the time, even with larger franchises. Marvel is offering posters to fans who come to a certain day for the Avengers: Endgame re-release this weekend. Is that a sign fans won't go to see the biggest MCU movie of all time? Not in my mind.
Any update on the Hulkster bar in NYC?
No. They still state it's coming soon. I guess one day, we'll see!
Does the WWE Network that ran regularly programming (not the video on demand stuff) still exist and if it does, do you run listing schedules?
It does exist in whatever international markets the WWE Network is still part of, but we do not run schedules as it's not available here in the United States and I have no feasible way to find the schedule. I don't know how much of a call there would be for it at this point, either.
Has there been any word if Konnan will appear in person for his TNA Hall of Fame induction?
There's been no word either way, but given his health issues, even if he sends in a video message, all that matters is he's represented.
For a few weeks, there was a wrestling cafe in NYC being promoted on Instagram. I visited NYC for work this week, went to the place and it was CLOSED? Any idea?
I hadn't heard of the place, which was named the Squared Circle Cafe. From what I understand, they are already out of business at that location. Sorry you went there for nothing.
Whatever happened to the ROH books that were coming from Cary Silkin and the other guy?
The other guy was Shane Hagadorn. His books are forthcoming. The plan is, I believe, a trilogy. I wrote the foreword for the first installment and it was a very good read I felt.
Silkin's book has been mired in editing and there's never been a planned release. The last time I spoke with Silkin about it, he was non-commital about when it might be finished. I am not sure it will ever be released.
