AEW star Kota Ibushi announced that his broken femur, suffered in November 2025, has not healed, requiring another surgery to put in another, thicker bolt. That surgery took place on Thursday 9/17 and was successful.
Ibushi stated on his Instagram that the steel plate is his leg will now be permanent and he has been warned that a return to the ring is "almost impossible."
Ibushi said he is still pursuing his comeback but does not know if he will be able to perform at the same level, even admitting he does not feel the same motivation as he once did, perhaps due to age or the state of his leg.
