I've always been that RoH/AEW type of wrestling fan. And then I found early 80s Memphis and Mid-South Wrestling. I'm binging everything I can find. Bob Roop might be my new favorite wrestler. Just hilarious. Do you have a favorite old territory and why?
I've always loved Memphis and I have a deep affinity for Continental when Eddie Gilbert was booking it and Smoky Mountain Wrestling, which Jim Cornette did a great job on for several years. Jim Crockett Promotions was also a favorite. All of these groups presented wrestling as a serious thing with championships that were meaningful and everything had an intense, personal issue at stake for their top storylines.
With MLW now signing with Tubi, they're turning into a one stop shop for pro wrestling programs. You hear about any other promotions talking with Tubi for a content deal? I think ROH would be a good fit since AEW already has the FAST channel on Tubi.
I have not heard of any other promotions at this time, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. With WWE EVOLVE, MLW, and NWA, plus the other content, you've got a good mix, if that's what you are looking for.
I wonder just how much Blake Monroe is getting paid. She's been on the main roster for months and hasn't wrestled one match. In my opinion she either cant wrestle or her booking sucks. At least Jade Cargill was allowed to learn in the ring. What's your take on this?
They are booking her exactly they way they want to build her character. People complained Royce Keys wasn't being used and I reported at the time they were getting acclimated and now look where he is. Patience.
Who do you think it is beating up everyone on TNA's TV show?
We reported last week on PWInsiderElite.com that the former Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis have been discussed as coming in, so they seem to be the prime suspects to me. Maybe we will find out when TNA has a live episode on Thursday.
I was curious what referees you think are great at their job?
Obviously, this is subjective, but I'd go with Paul Turner, Mike Kehner, Frank Gastineau, Uncle Steven and Giuseppe De Caro. There are a lot of unsung heroes who ref all over the place, often because the job description requires you to be so good that you almost become a chameleon in the ring, allowing them to disappear in favor of spotlighting the wrestlers, so the downside there is often they are not always appreciated for how great they are.
