This September, AEW is dedicating a night to raising awareness for ALS. AEW: Rebel Heart Dynamite airs live from Akins Ford Arena in Athens on September 9th, honoring Tanea Brooks, know to fans as Rebel. A donation will be made from the event to benefit I AM ALS and Team Gleason, two leading organizations in the fight against ALS.
REBEL'S STORY
AEW Star Tanea Brooks, known as Rebel, has been a beloved member of the AEW family since the company's earliest days. Long before she ever laced up a pair of wrestling boots, Rebel was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, music video performer, and even an actress. The Owasso, Oklahoma native went on to compete as a professional wrestler across the U.S., India, Canada, the U.K., and Japan before bringing her talents to All Elite Wrestling in 2019. Starting behind the scenes as a hair and makeup artist, it wasn't long before her incredible charisma found its way to the front of the camera.
As the spirited on-screen sidekick to champions like Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., she was impossible not to love, becoming a favorite to fans all over the world.
When escalating health challenges pulled her from competition, Tanea fought for two years to find answers as her health continued to decline. In March 2026, doctors at the Mayo Clinic finally provided one: a terminal ALS diagnosis.
The response from fans and fellow talent has been immediate and unwavering.
Rebel is still fighting. So are we. We fight in honor of Rebel and for the many people and families living with ALS who deserve more research, more support, and more time.
