9/5 AEW COLLISION REPORT

AEW Collision was recorded after Dynamite Wednesday at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, TX. Our commentary team is Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, and Walker Stewart, best known from New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Brian Cage and Jake Doyle vs The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)

The Bucks are attacked before the bell, and Matt is left in the ring to get beat down by Cage and Doyle. Matt escapes out the back twice and tags in Nick, who gets a series of kicks and high-flying attacks. The Bucks get hurricanranas and pounds Cage and Doyle. Cage and Doyle stop them and hit stereo backdrops. The Bucks hit a series of double-team tactics to send Cage and Doyle to the floor. This leads to the Bucks hitting dives.

Cage is rolled into the ring, and he puts the brakes on Nick. Cage and Doyle send Matt to the floor and go back to work on Nick as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Nick has been the babyface in peril. Nick is able to get a Destroyer on Cage, and they crawl toward their corners. Matt tags in and runs wild. The Bucks then start their Young Buckery, and Matt covers Cage after a swanton from the top for two. The Superkick Party is announced, and Cage takes the kicks. Doyle tags in for his kicks. Matt tries to pick him up for the Meltzer Driver, but Nick helps pick him up. Cage breaks it up.

Matt tries for a hurricanrana on Doyle, who rolls through into a power bomb for two. Doyle picks up Matt, and Nick frees him with kicks. The Bucks start hitting double-team moves again, and they pull Cage into a charge from Doyle. Doyle takes a BTE trigger, and Matt gets the pin and the win on him.

Winners: The Young Bucks

We get a promo from Willow Nightingale about her match with Mercedes Mone at All In, and she doesn’t make excuses for her losses. She says she gets back up and keeps fighting because there are people who need her to fight back. She then says that she listened to Mone’s promo on Dynamite and what Thekla had to say as well. She knows they won’t say it to her face, though.

Hangman Adam Page, Bandido and Brody King vs the Already in the Ring Braddah Kaimi, LBJ, and Vin Parker. 

Tony says that Page, Bandido, and King need their own graphic novel.  Dudes, let Chris Condon write it, and I will be preordering it the minute it is announced. “Hell Is A Squared Circle” was wrestling and horror mashed together in an incredible comic.

Oh, and this is a short match where you already know what happens the minute I wrote: “already in the ring”. Bandido wins with a frog splash onto Parker. 

Winners: Hangman Adam Page, Bandido and Brody King

In the back, the Bang Bang Gang give a promo with Jay White saying he wanted them to have gold around their waist, but now there is new blood in the trios division and talk about the New Level. Juice Robinson and Ace Austin challenge Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight for later tonight. 

The Brawling Birds say if the Divine Dominion want to keep playing with them, that’s fine. They will fight them at All Out in a Chicago Street Fight. 

Nick Wayne vs Komander

Wayne forces Komander to the corner and manhandles him to mock him. They lock up and trade arm bars. Komander gets an arm drag, and Wayne goes to the floor for a break. Komander waits for Wayne to return to the ring, and Wayne gets an elbow strike. They run the ropes and dodge moves from each other until Komander hits a tejaris and Wayne rolls to the floor. When Wayne returns, Komander gets a mienstras cradle for two. Komander gets a drop toe hold into a splash for two. 

Komander grabs a big booty and then slaps Wayne. Wayne slams Komander and snaps him into the turnbuckle as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Wayne has a rear chinlock, but Komander fights free, and Wayne kicks him down. Wayne gets strikes to Komander’s back, dancing between shots. Komander gets a back elbow and chops. Wayne gets a full nelson suplex. Komander gets a series of kicks and follows with a DDT. He superkicks Wayne to the ropes and follows with a tiger feint kick and a Destroyer. Komander hits a 450 springboard from the top rope to the floor. 

Wayne is rolled into the ring, and Komander goes to the top, but Wayne gets the knees up and covers for two. Komander gets a rollup for two. Nick gets another dragon suplex. Komander gets a big kick and goes to the top, but Wayne gets a high roundhouse kick when Komander leaps. Wayne gets the Prodigy Plex for the pin and the win.

Winner: Nick Wayne

Jericho sneaks into the ring and takes the ref’s place to raise Wayne’s hand in victory, then hits a Judas Effect on him and holds the ring, triumphant as people sing his theme. 

Lexi Nair is backstage for Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle O’Reilly, and Orange Cassidy, and they say they won’t give up until everyone has a backpack full of gold. Tony then asks what is going on with Roderick Strong. 

Persephone (AEW TBS Champion) vs VertVixen

Britt Baker joins commentary.

They lock up, and Persephone forces them to the corner and breaks. They lock up again, and Vert forces them to the corner, but Persephone kicks her and gets a headbutt. They run the corners, and Vert shoves Persephone to the corner. Vert gets a shoulder tackle and follows with a trip into a two count. Vert goes for a cross-body from the corner; Persephone catches her and gets a fallaway slow. She follows with a dropkick for two as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Persephone has a read body lock. Vert leans back for two, and then Vert escapes and covers Persephone for two. They throw hands, and Persephone clotheslines her down. Vert gets an up kick and then another kick. She gets a pump kick in the corner and then a pickup slam for two.  

Vert tries for a pickup and instead gets a rollup, but Persephone rolls through into a shotgun dropkick. Persephone hits a black hole slam for the pin and the win.

Winner and still TBS Champion: Persephone

Persephone and Baker attack after the match, but Maya World and Thunder Rosa come out for the save. This causes Baker and Persephone to bail. 

There is a hype video for Andrade El Idolo and Gabe Kidd’s match later tonight. 

The Swirl (Blake Christian and Lee Johnson) w/Jay Lethal vs The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

Lee and Alex start the match with arm bars. Alex wraps Lee’s arm around a rope and kicks it. They run the ropes, and Alex gets a drop toe hold into an arm bar. Lee gets a kick and pulls Alex to his corner to tag in Blake. They fight in the ropes and go to arm bars. Alex lays in blows on Blake’s arm and tags in Chris and gets a two count. Chris gets a Spanish fly and follows with a hammerlock into a backslide for one. Chris gets a leaping crucifix pin for two. They run the ropes, and Blake gets a dropkick and tags in Lee.

Lee misses a leap in the corner and all four men are in the ring. Alex is tagged in and then whips Blake to the floor and works over Lee with quick tags. Lee is whipped to the floor as is Blake. Alex tags in and they hit baseball slides. Alex holds the ropes open for Chris to dive onto the Swirl as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, the Swirl have kept Alex in the ring with quick tags. Alex is able to get a swinging neck breaker on Blake, and fights free of Lee to get the tag to Chris, who cleans house. Chris ends it with a leaping DDT from the top for two. Alex is tagged in, and Lee tries to fight them off. The Machine Guns get a series of double-team kicks for two. Alex gets an arm bar and tags in Chris. Blake gets a spear on Alex, and then a Fogbury flop onto him. 

Lee gets a boot up in the corner, and he tags in Blake, who gets a cross body from the tap as Lee holds Chris for two. The Swirl each gets a big splash for two. Alez is tossed to the floor, and Lee is tagged in. Chris escapes and gets a stunner on Blake, and Blake rolls to the floor. The Machine Guns hit the skull and bones from the top for two, broken up by Blake. The Machine Guns double-team Blake and then hit a two-man pendulum slam on Lee for the pin and the win.

Winners: Motor City Machine Guns.

Jungle Jack Perry cuts a promo about how he failed to win the Casino Gauntlet, but he will not stop until he wins the AEW World title. 

The Demand are backstage, and Ricochet says All In was a disaster for them, and the New Level are rookies and have to act like rookies. We then get their catchphrase.  

Andrade El Ídolo (AEW National Champion) vs Gabe Kidd 

Kidd beats down Andrade at the bell and goes for a quick pin for two. Kidd grabs a headlock on the mat and gives it up to yell at the crowd. Kidd tosses Andrade to the floor and follows him, tossing his contract for a title match to the floor. Kidd works over Andrade on the floor. Andrade whips Kidd into the announcer’s table and then slams his head into it. Andrade whips Kidd into the ring and then hits the three amigos. 

Kidd rolls to the floor. Andrade follows him, and Kidd shoves him off the ring steps. Annandrade whips Kidd into the steel steps, goes into the ring, and pulls his pants down to his trunks. As he is doing so, Kidd gets into the ring, and Andrade gets a DM for two. Andrade goes to the top and leaps into Kidd’s knees. Kidd slams Andrade’s head into the top turnbuckle as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Kidd has spent the break making the Texas crowd mad at him with the microphone. It allows Andrade to recover, and they fight back and forth, but Kidd keeps getting the upper hand. They throw hands, and Andrade gets a series of takedowns. Kidd rolls out of the ring to escape a double knee. Andrade instead gets a tornado over the top onto Kidd on the floor. Andrade takes a selfie with Arkady Aura. Kidd rolls into the ring, and Andrade goes to the top. Andrade gets the double backflip from the top for two.

Kidd avoids the double knees, hits a clothesline, and a power bomb for two. Andrade escapes a piledriver with a back body drop into the turnbuckles, followed by a running double knee strike for two. Kidd gets a pair of strikes and then a back body drop. Kidd beats his head into the top turnbuckle and then can’t pick up Andrade. He hits elbow strikes, and Andrade hits Dia de los Muertos followed by the DM for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW National Champion: Andrade El Idolo

Andrade grabs a mic and says it is only a matter of time before he is world champion, but he will wait for the right time. For now, he will focus on being the greatest National Champion of all time. He will defend it every week. If you think he cannot do this, how you know? 

Tomaso Ciampa is backstage, and he thinks about his debut in Texas and how he creates moments. He talks about his big matches over his AEW career. He then says it is time for the Psycho Killer to become the Psycho King.

Athena (Ring of Honor Women’s Champion) vs Isla Dawn - 10-minute Proving Ground Match

They lock up, and Athena beats Dawn down. Dawn pie faces Athena and then hits a series of blows followed by a dropkick. Athena drops Dawn, gets a running kick to the floor, and then a PK from the apron. They brawl on the floor, and Dawn drops Athena. Athena whips Dawn into the barricade. Dawn is rolled into the ring and then kicks Dawn again. Athena then grounds and pounds her until the ref pulls her off. Dawn gets a rollup for one. She gets a backslide for one. Dawn gets a small package for two.

Dawn kicks Athena when she tries to rebound from the corner. Dawn gets a Saito suplex and then a shining wizard for two. Dawn grabs Athena in a fireman’s carry, but Athena fights free. Athena charges into a big boot from Dawn. Dawn goes to the top and leaps over Athena, who gets a pair of German suplexes. Athena gets a handspring elbow in the corner and goes to the top for the O Face, the pin and the win

Winner: Athena

Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher/Lance Archer vs The Bang Bang Gang (Ace Austin and Juice Robinson)

Don Callis joins commentary. 

Knight and Fletcher have calm words before the match. Fletcher and Ace start the match and go to waistlocks. They move to arm bars, and finally Ace gets an arm drag. Ace gets a dropkick, and Kyle goes back to his corner and tags in Knight, who says Fletcher can’t handle it. Ace clotheslines Knight and then chops him in the corner. He gets a drop toe hold and covers Knight for two. He then hits a dropkick and tags in Juice. 

Juice comes off the top with a double axe handle. Juice gets a Manhattan drop, a Russian leg sweep, and a splash for two. Juice mocks Fletcher, who loses his temper on the apron. Ace tags in and hits a leg drop on Knight after Juice slams him. Ace gets a snapmare into a leg scissors. Ace gets a double kick to the back and runs the ropes, but Fletcher gets a scoop and a slam and starts arguing with Knight. 

Knight drop-kicks Juice off the apron and goes back to the argument as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Ace has been the babyface in peril through the break with Knight and Fletcher trying to one-up each other. Ace gets a sunset flip into the ring on Knight, and then dodges a kick from Knight to tag in Juice, who cleans house. Juice hits Knight with the Left Hand of God into a power bomb for two. 

Ace is tagged in and goes to the top,  and Fletcher grabs his foot. Knight dropkicks Juice. Knight gets a leaping hurricanrana on Ace, and Fletcher is tagged in. Fletcher and Knight go for a double suplex, but Juice breaks it up. Juice takes Knight from the ring, and Ace gets a leg-based DDT for two. Fletcher grabs a suplex, but Ace rolls him up for two. Ace gets a springboard spin-kick and charges at Fletcher, who grabs him for a Michinoku driver for two. 

Fletcher shakes his head at Callis, and Ace gets a rollup for two. Ace hits a leaping knee, and Juice is pulled off the apron by Knight. Ace kicks Knight off the apron and leaps at Fletcher, who kicks him out of midair. Fletcher gets a running kick, and Knight gets a blind tag. Fletcher gets a brain buster, but Knight follows with the UFO splash from the top for the pin and the win.

Winners: Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher
