WWE NXT announcer Vic Joseph appeared on NYC's CW affiliate WPIX's New York Nightcap tonight to promote the NXT series, which airs on the same channel locally in the Metropolitan area.
Joseph, who joined them from the WWE Performance Center, said he was excited to talk WWE and NXT.
They asked how he became the voice of NXT. It was all he ever wanted to do. He covered spots in Cleveland, Ohio. Shawn Michaels was his childhood hero and is now his boss. He met his wife McKenzie Mitchell in NYC. He tries to give a passionate response to everything he does because he loves it.
They asked him about Kelani Jordan winning the NXT Women's title. He said that she backed up everything she said she was going to do. She's won every title he's held in the first match she's had to contend for the titles.
Joseph said he was most surprised by Grayson Waller winning the NXT title. He respect him but doesn't necessarily like Waller, but he called out the locker room and is now pulling the cart. Joseph is interested in who will stand up to challenge him in the weeks ahead.
They asked Joseph to explain the differences between the WWE main roster and NXT. He said there's a lot of similarities between the two. When Aaron Judge went through AAA and AA ball, you followed him on that journey to the New York Yankees and you get to do that with NXT, naming Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Oba Femi as stars fans had that chance to follow.
Joseph was asked about the physicality of pro wrestling. He said they put their bodies on the line and fight through things most human beings cannot fight through. No matter your sports or athletic background, your body is not ready for what pro wrestling entails.
Joseph predicted Nikko Vance and Izzi Dame would be talents to watch over the next year in WWE NXT.
Joseph plugged they return to NYC for Stand and Deliver Wrestlemania weekend in 2027.
Joseph came off very well as a representative of WWE.
