Was it ever actually confirmed that the original Bloodline story had an impact on getting Netflix to want Raw? I only ask because most of the streaming services have paid big money for live sports & entertainment, such as Netflix paying big money for things like the Tyson/Jake Paul fight and pretty much any event Jake is involved in, and I would think if that were the impetus for Netflix getting into business with WWE, then the chances are pretty decent Netflix may cut ties when they're contractually able to?
I don’t know if TKO or Netflix ever publicly stated that but I have been told by people in the company that would know that the success that WWE was having, driven by The Bloodline, got them on Netflix’s radar, for sure. Now, does that mean that they are happy with the deal? I can’t say because I don’t have sources on that issue. I am waiting to see what happens when the five year opt out happens. If Netflix opts out and doesn’t renegotiate with TKO, that would tell you how they feel. Conversely, if they don’t that would also tell you all that you need to know.
You mentioned in today's questions, that Oba vs Bron is happening before it should... I definitely agree. That being said, I saw the picture of Bronson Reed looking great in the gym. If he's ready to go, should he come back and destroy everybody at Main Event? That would get a no-contest, maybe have Paul turn on Bron in favor of Bronson, and save both guys from taking a loss. Thoughts?
I could see Reed returning and getting involved in the match, for sure. They could use him to not hurt Bron (at least not as much) if he loses to Oba. Now the how of the situation? I have no intel on that!
If Chelsea Green loses the eventual WWE Women's Championship unification match with Rhea Ripley, does her interim reign count as her 1st world championship? Or does Green's reign not count at all in the title lineage history for that belt? Would you count an interim reign as part of a wrestler's accomplishment history?
To me, it absolutely counts as her first World Title.
I thought the Fatal 4 Way match, IC Title, Women’s Ladder, and HIAC match could have went 5 minutes longer to reach elite status at SummerSlam. Do you agree? Also, by not giving midcard acts - like Gable and Green - more ring time to show off their skills - does WWE not realize they are stunting their growth and connection with the fans?
This is a subjective question. To some fans, the in-ring wrestling is by far the most important thing. To others, it’s the exact opposite. While they care about the matches, the characters and storylines that lead to the bouts are what they care more about. So it’s a matter of opinion I think.
With TKO owning WWE, NXT, and AAA, the overall wrestling and storytelling has been great (with some misses of course). Even Evolve is doing well given it was a past independent promotion. It got me thinking, if TKO had ownership in 2001, do you feel they would have ran WCW better than Vince McMahon? What about the revived ECW in 2006?
I absolutely think that if TKO owned the company when they got ownership of WCW that they would have done a far better job in maximizing the asset. Unlike Vince McMahon, they had no personal grudge with the company. They wouldn’t have wanted it to look inferior to WWE like Vince did.
