By Mike Johnson on 2026-08-22 09:29:00

Welcome to this week's TNA Xplosion report!

TNA Lockdown 2006: Team Japan (Hirooki Goto, Black Tiger & Minoru) vs. Team USA (Alex Shelley, Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal)

This opening match promises a barrage of high-flying, fast-paced action. Alex Shelley and Minoru kick things off, trading wrestling holds until Shelley lands the first major blow with a crisp dropkick to the face. Minoru answers with a dropkick of his own before tagging in Black Tiger, allowing Team Japan to gain the upper hand. Shelley turns the tide with a headscissors takedown and a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.

Jay Lethal tags himself in as Minoru tags Goto. They instantly take the action to the mat, battling to a stalemate. Lethal takes control, executing his signature hip toss into a low dropkick. Black Tiger tags back in, but Lethal maintains control and traps him in Team USA’s corner. Shelley, Lethal, and Dutt double- and triple-team Tiger as a seamless unit. Tiger eventually manages to make the tag to Goto, shifting momentum back to Team Japan. They isolate Dutt, utilizing quick tags to keep a fresh man in the ring. Meanwhile, Team Mexico (Shocker, Puma, and Magno) walk out to the entrance ramp to observe the action. Dutt takes a beating, including a triple dropkick, but manages to kick out at two. He fights back, catching Tiger with a springboard hurricanrana off the second rope.  Lethal gets the hot tag and enters like a house on fire, nailing a leg lariat off the second rope for a near-fall. Tiger cuts him off with a stiff elbow and a dropkick. Goto tags in and drops Lethal with a Saito Suplex for two. Lethal reverses an Irish whip, prompting all three Team USA members to swarm the ring and pummel Goto. Shelley connects with a gorgeous Frog Splash, but Goto kicks out at two.

With the referee completely losing control of the chaos, Lethal plants Goto with a bridging German suplex for another close near-fall. Dutt hits a running Shooting Star Press, forcing Black Tiger to rush in and break up the pinfall. Minoru traps Lethal in the Minoru Special, but Dutt breaks the hold. Tiger tags in, only for Lethal to deck him with a flapjack. Minoru flies in with a dropkick, Shelley drops Minoru face-first onto the canvas, and Goto cuts Shelley down with a spin kick. Dutt drills Goto with a basement dropkick followed by an enzuigiri. Dutt lifts Goto for an Asai DDT, but Goto blocks it.  The chaos peaks when Shelley attempts a superkick but accidentally nails his own partner, Dutt. Goto capitalizes with a leg lariat on Shelley, and Lethal catches Goto with a superkick. Black Tiger whips Lethal right into a brutal superkick from Minoru, then connects with a devastating Tiger Suplex to secure the pinfall victory.

Your winners, Team Japan!

Impact 8/20/26: TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardys & Moose & Elijah vs. TNA Champion Nic Nemeth, Ryan Nemeth, Frankie Kazarian & A.J. Francis

Kazarian and Hardy started out with Hardy getting an early advantage.  He nailed a splash but couldn't get the pinfall. Kazarian escaped from Moose and tagged into Ryan Nemeth.  He tried to challenge Moose but was chopped and pulled into Team Moose's corner, where everyone beat him.  Elijah walked the ropes and nailed him, then lifted him into an F5 for a near fall broken up by Nemeth's team.  Everyone hit the ring and brawled in the ring.  Team Hardys cleared the ring.

Nemeth gained the advantage on Elijah on the floor, briefly, but it didn't last long.  Kazarian tagged in but Elijah backdropped him.  Jeff Hardy tagged in and hit an axe-handle off the ropes.  The Hardys double-teamed Kazarian and scored a two count.  Elijah tagged in and went back to the ropes, walking them and coming off with a shot on Kazarian.  AJ interfered, allowing Kazarian to attack Elijah and worked him over on the mat with right hands.  Kazarian worked over Elijah until being caught and chokeslammed.  Nic Nemeth and Moose tagged in.  Moose drilled him and worked over Nemeth with a hip attack.  Ryan got involved but got wrecked.  Moose nailed a sit-out powerbomb for a two count.  Matt Hardy tagged in and Moose came off his back with an attack in the corner.  Matt hit the Side Effect on Nic for a two count.  Matt went to the ropes but Ryan distracted him, allowing Nic to attack and hit him with a superkick.  Ryan drilled Matt with shots to the head on the mat and them tagged in Kazarian, who drilled him with shots to the mid-section.

Francis tagged in and stomped away at Matt.  Francis nailed a big splash in the corner.   He set up and hit the running boot to the face.  Francis prevented Hardy from tagging out by nailing his partners.  They battled on the top.  Hardy hit a Side Effect into the ring.  This set up Hardy making the hot tag to Jeff Hardy.  He cleaned house on everyone who hit the ring.  He nailed the Cruncher legdrop on Ryan.   Hardy hit Whisper in the Wind off the top on the Nemeths.  Kazarian nailed him but Moose booted him to the floor and hit a pescado.  Francis speared Jeff Hardy and covered him but Elijah broke it up.  Francis was kicked off when he went for a chokeslam.  Matt nailed him with the Twist of Fate.  Jeff hit a swanton bomb and covered Francis for the pin.

Your winners, Team Hardys!

The #1 Don West Trending Topic is that the X-Division Championship will be a Last Man Standing Match.

Lockdown 2008: Lethal Lockdown Match Team Tomko (Captain Tomko, A.J. Styles, Team 3D, & James Storm) vs. Team Cage (Captain Christian Cage, Rhino, Kevin Nash, Sting, & Matt Morgan) - Original coverage by Richard Trionfo

The match was scheduled to start with team captains Christian Cage and Tomko in the cage for a five-minute period. However, during Tomko's entrance, A.J. Styles ambushed the ring instead. Styles immediately took control, hitting a diving strike off the turnbuckle and firing off punches. Christian traded blows, but Styles maintained the advantage with an eye rake and a Phenomenal Dropkick. Christian fought back with heavy chops and punches, but after missing a corner splash, he fell victim to an inverted DDT.

Christian countered a Styles Clash attempt into an inverted DDT of his own, then stopped a springboard hurricanrana with a sit-out powerbomb. After driving Styles into the mesh, Christian set up the Unprettier, but Styles slipped out and landed a Pele kick.

Brother Ray entered next for Team Tomko. As Styles sent Christian toward the door, Ray slammed the cage door directly into Christian’s head. Ray flattened him with a back body drop and an elbow drop, then trapped Christian in a Boston Crab while Styles delivered a knee drop. Team Tomko continued to double-team Christian, executing chops and repeatedly ramming his head into the steel cage.

Rhino entered as the second member for Team Cage, striking Styles and planting Ray with a belly-to-belly suplex. Rhino set up for the Gore on Ray, but Styles cut him off with a kick to the head. Rhino recovered, punching both Styles and Ray, while Christian locked Ray in a sleeper hold until Ray broke free.

James Storm joined the match next for Team Tomko. Storm immediately hit the Eye of the Storm on Christian before targeting Rhino. A brawl broke out near the top of the cage, where Styles and Rhino traded strikes on the top rope. Styles climbed atop the structure and kicked Rhino down to the canvas. Christian climbed up to meet Styles on top of the cage, and the two traded punches on the roof.

Kevin Nash was introduced as the next entrant for Team Cage. Right as Nash made his way down, Christian fell from the top of the cage all the way to the arena floor. Nash entered the ring and cleaned house, delivering forearms to Storm, a clothesline to Ray, and catching a cross-body attempt by Styles to execute snake eyes. Ray immediately targeted Nash's knees. Meanwhile, Christian climbed back to the top of the cage and wiped out Ray and Storm with a massive cross-body off the roof.

Brother Devon entered as the fourth entrant for Team Tomko. Team 3D immediately double-teamed Christian, executing a double flapjack into the cage wall followed by a double shoulder tackle on Rhino. Ray and Storm targeted Nash’s legs again, clipping his knee, while Storm sent Christian crashing into the steel with a dropkick.

Matt Morgan entered as the final member for Team Cage, taking down every member of Team Tomko. Morgan leveled Styles with a big boot, hit Ray with a bicycle kick, headbutted Devon into the cage, and delivered a double clothesline to Team 3D. Morgan then scooped up Styles and planted him hard into the mat with a sidewalk slam.

Tomko entered as the final member of his team, attempting to bring a steel chair into the ring, though the referee refused to let the weapon inside. Tomko tackled Christian, and the two traded heavy punches. Devon, bleeding profusely, delivered a low blow leg drop to Morgan while holding him in the ropes, as Storm targeted Christian's ribs.

Sting entered as the final entrant, officially beginning the "Match Beyond" phase as the roof containing weapons was lowered onto the cage. Sting went on a rampage, laying out all four members of Team Tomko and delivering low blows to Styles and Storm. Weapons were quickly drawn: Nash used a steel chair to block a bat shot from Styles, then leveled Styles with the chair. Morgan smashed Tomko with a trash can.

James Storm climbed to the roof of the cage, and Christian pursued him. Storm struck Christian with a trash can lid, but Christian fought back, attempting a suplex on the roof that nearly caused Storm to fall through the cage ceiling. Christian smashed Storm with the trash can lid while the action continued inside the ring. Nash chokeslammed Ray, Morgan chokeslammed Devon, and Sting hit Tomko with the VanStingenator before locking in the Scorpion Deathlock. Styles broke up the submission with a kendo stick, beating down everyone in sight.

On top of the cage, Christian set up a table. Styles climbed up to assist Storm, placing Christian onto the table and setting up a ladder. Down in the ring, all seven other competitors were wiped out. Christian scrambled off the table, and he and Styles fought atop the ladder on the roof. As Christian tried to push Styles off, Storm intervened. Storm tipped the ladder over, sending both Styles and Christian crashing through the table on the roof of the cage.

Storm climbed back down into the ring, grabbed a beer bottle, and smashed it over Matt Morgan's head. However, Rhino immediately capitalized, striking Storm with a spear (Gore) to secure the three-count pinfall!

Winners: Team Cage via pinfall

Harley Hudson vs. Gabby Forza vs. Elayna Black vs. Sirena Linton

They teased a four way test of strength but Linton began nailing shots.  Bad idea as she got rocked by everyone else.  Hudson and Black battled. Hudson nailed a hip attack and nailed a fall away slam.  She covered Black, who kicked out.  Forza and Linton battled on the floor.  Forza hit the ring to break up Black vs. Hudson.  Forza faced off with Black and went for an over the shoulder powerslam but Black escaped and nailed a rana.  She charged Forza into the corner but was kicked off.  Forza nailed a vertical delayed suplex for a two count.

Forza and Hudson battled.  Hudson cinched in a sleeper in the corner but Black nailed a running knee.  Linton nailed a bronco buster in the corner.  Black nailed a stunner on Linton but the pinfall was broken up.  Forza hit a fall away slam on Black and Hudson at the same time.  She grabbed Hudson for a suplex but Hudson escaped and nailed a stunner.  Linton tried to pick the bones and tossed Hudson, but Black nailed her with The Blackout and pinned Linton.

Your winner, Elayna Black!
