Former WWE star Joseph Sawyer (fka Joe Gacy) defeated Anthony Gangone for the Xcite Wrestling Heavyweight Title over the weekend at the promotion's annual Spiedie Fest events in BInghamton, NY. For the uninitiated, Spiedie Fest is Binghamton’s annual balloon rally that sees tens of thousands converge to for a number of events, including Xcite Wrestling events held over the course of the weekend.
This was Sawyer’s first Xcite Wrestling event since 2020 right before he was signed to WWE. Sawyer, as Joe Gacy, was in the first Xcite Wrestling main event against Fit Finlay and Brodie Lee in 2012, and he also was the first Xcite Champion.
Gacy is scheduled to defend the championship on his Up All Night Network’s Xcite Wrestling Riot debut on 9/5 in Hornell, NY and has additional Xcite dates scheduled through the fall.
