Just finished watching Smackdown, so here goes:
Is HHH taking booking cues from Vince in secret? Chelsea Green, the brand spanking new women’s champ, gets pinned…..what the hell? I just shook my head.
I HATED that. It is such a stupid way to start off her reign, by telling the world she is less important than the US Champion and the tag team champions. She is already coming in as an underdog so they should be doing the exact opposite of what they did. It’s getting really hard to remember back to when HHH was actually a great booker.
Speaking of the women’s title, they didn’t introduce her as the interim champion, simply as the champion. Did something change with Rhea having had surgery?
I noticed that too. But, she is still listed internally as interim champion, even though they have a T-Shirt with her likeness that says otherwise.
Now that they’ve announced the brackets and competitors for the world title tournament, who’s your pick?
I think the final will be Penta vs. Rey Fenix with Penta winning that match. That’s what I would do anyway.
Did you notice that Joe Tess said there were over 10,000 at Smackdown in Philly, like that’s a good thing? When will they get the message that ticket prices are too high?
I did. I also got emails this past week from WWE offering a nice discount on tickets for the show in Philadelphia, a city where they should NEVER have to do that. At this point, I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t just wait until the event gets closer and get their seat at a much cheaper price. This is a problem of WWE’s own creation due to their hubris and ridiculously priced tickets. I honestly don’t know when, or if, they will get the message. They should have gotten it already after the mediocre attendance at SummerSlam but they continue on with the outlandish pricing, alienating fans in the process.
Punk/Owens didn’t waste time, it’s heated right off the bat. I’m happy Owens is back and in a title program but it seems WWE is once again drifting into the “who should we cheer“ territory they’ve been giving us. If the match is in Toronto, Owens will be the favorite due to geography, obviously. But this is two big matches in a row for Punk against another babyface. Where are the heels? Thoughts?
In a vacuum the exchange was very good but we don’t live in a vacuum, I hated that once again they are doing the shades of gray thing, despite the fact that, as mentioned above, attendance is down. They keep making it hard for fans to have a rooting interest and when two babyface shoot on each other, it doesn’t nothing to get fans behind either. I guess their goal is to make it like UFC but that doesn’t work in wrestling.
