What did you think of Chelsea Green dedicating her Title reign to Michael Hayes?
I. LOVED. IT! Chelsea is awesome. I am so happy for her. She deserved it.
Cody/Punk put on a great match, but at no point did I feel Rhodes had a shot at taking it. So, not much drama for me. And I was fine with Orton interfering, as that hopefully keeps Cody busy and away from the title, and it prevented Cody from winning. Did you feel the same lack of drama? And what does it say about the recent booking that I just want one guy to lose to keep him the hell away from the title?
I didn’t see it that way. They have forced Cody into Title matches of late so I could definitely see them putting the belt on him. I am glad that they didn’t. As I have said many times, he needs to stay away from the belt for a while.
HIAC; again, good match, but no drama for me as there was no sane reason for Oba to lose. I was worried for a moment that Brock was going to take a Fall From Grace on the exposed boards. I’m glad he didn’t. Did you enjoy the match and did you see it as a retirement for Brock, or he gets that big Saudi payday at one last WM?
I loved the match. It was awesome. It was like the Gable-Penta match. I didn’t think Penta would win just like I didn’t think Brock would, but I still loved the matches. Oba SHOULD have won. To me it was always about the story of getting there and I loved the story.
As for Brock, I could see him being done and I could see him returning for a big payday.
I just shook my head when they actually pointed out that it was Liv’s 1st title defense since WM. I know they love their stats, but do you think maybe that’s one to just keep quiet about? It’s hardly impressive.
I agree, especially when the next night they were doing an Interim Title match due to Rhea Ripley not defending her belt.
How did you feel about Solo “ running it back “ on Jey? I was laughing so hard, and it was on-character for Solo. I actually like it when another performer makes fun of/points out something that another person does that is generally viewed as stupid. Solo is my new guilty pleasure of WWE.
I love what Solo has been doing of late. Like I said in my thoughts I love Solo’s recent work. I hope that Creative keeps building on it.
Well, at least they slotted the Bellas back in as heels. Nikki, especially, is better suited to that designation. Do you think they just keep them more or less feuding with mid-card babyfaces going forward? I don’t think anyone really gains much from working with them, honestly. Most of the women can easily outperform them, and I don’t feel they have any real gravitas where beating them means anything.
With Brie hurt, I guess Nikki will take on Paige. I do think it’s time for their push at or near the top of the card to end though.
Did HHH book himself into a corner with Corbin/Trick? Corbin just came back and it's his 1st match - if he didn't win, I think his legs would have been cut right out from under him.
You could look at it that way. I would counter that he could have lost it under the “he has been gone for a while and rusty”
All around, Night 2 was absolutely awesome. WAY better than Night 1 for this viewer. You?
I liked night one better. I was more invested.
Night Two Main Event - the match delivered and then some. Other than what I felt was an unnecessary ref bump, I have zero complaints about the match, just amazing. For all the Roman Reigns critics out there, the guy delivers every time in his matches. He is absolutely in the conversation for one of the greatest of all time. The chapter with Seth appears closed. What did you think and what's next for both guys?
The ref bump was needed to have the moment of truth when Roman had to decide if he would use the chair or win it on his own. I had no issue with it. The match itself? It was an absolute classic. As I type this Monday morning, I am just sitting back and waiting to see where both guys go from here.
The stupid "Interim" Champion designation aside, way to go Chelsea Green. Now let her run with the ball. Do you see her being booked as a loveable, scrappy champion who finds a way to win, or do they let her evolve into a more serious onscreen presence?
I hope they use this as a bridge to the next stage of her character. People love her so they should what they have in her. I think she could absolutely be the scrappy champion that the fans rally behind, especially if opponents initially underestimate her.
The Kevin Owens return was great, and I couldn't see him not winning when he came out. Terrific moment for the crowd, and Sami played it perfectly with his reactions.
It was amazing, for sure. I am happy for him.
Does Sami FINALLY lose it now? What else could possibly be done to him at this point?
He HAS to, especially since it was KO who pinned him.
Sami and Finn Balor both have legitimate gripes about the match being changed at the last moment. Obviously, Sami is going to flip his lid, but how do you see this playing out with Balor?
Balor has been on the babyface arc so I don’t see him losing it.
Is there anything you would have liked to happen/play out differently on the show?
I would not have had Trick lose.
I was just reading your thoughts on the Gable vs Penta IC titles match at Summerslam. I agree but am I being too nitpicky here by not liking the fact that Penta tapped for the finish? I think back to the classic Bret Hart vs British Bulldog IC match at Summerslam 1992. Great match, great finish, and the babyface champion didn’t have to tap out. I feel like with two great technical wrestlers like Penta and Gable they could have very easily done something like that.
I didn’t have an issue with the finish. Penta knew he was beaten and couldn’t get out of it so he tapped.
After being speared by Roman Reigns, and being incapacitated for what seemed to be 5 or more minutes, how was referee Shawn Bennett so quickly able to jump back into the ring and do the 3 count on Seth Rollins? Wouldn't it have been more realistic for Bennett to crawl or otherwise reenter the ring slowly since he was so "badly injured?"
They could have done that for sure. But my guess is that they didn’t want Rollins to sell for 10 seconds. I understand that.
