Piedmont Wrestling Club made their debut in Davidson, NC (suburb of Charlotte, where Steph Curry played college ball) with "Return to Tradition".
The theme is stripped down, family friendly "old school" Southern territory style wrestling. Heels are villain, babyfaces are heroes. Shades of grey is not a thing.
It did have a feel of being as a Crockett spot show in the early 80s and I liked that since I never got to go to one.
Steve Allen and Robert Allen defeated Grant Kistel and Justin Kindred-Allen to become the first Piedmont Wrestling Club tag champions. JKA was not happy with the result, attacking his partner after the bout.
The Minotaur, a big fella in a very impressive mask, defeated a very friendly seeming Adam Davis and beat him quickly. He threw out an open challenge, answered by General Pickle. Pickle offered a much stiffer challenge despite giving up a lot of size. The Minotaur got the win with a Vader splash.
Cam Brown beat the Voodoo Child in a match of young prospects.
Jonny Baker was victorious over a young star who's name I didn't catch.
Christopher Prince got a win over Aaron Ehm.
Cameron Jackson defeated the (a?) Piedmont Grappler for the Piedmont Wrestling Club Championship in the main event. Seems this Grappler wasn't the same Grappler that was cutting promos so there may have been some shenanigans involved to throw off Jackson. It didn't work. Good match, best of the show with Jackson showing great talent, charisma and crowd control. Only match with any extended action on the floor.
For a show put together by an owner who works two full time jobs and had a slew of callouts at the last minute, this was a fun debut event that went by incredibly fast (out in about 90 minutes).
The crowd was active and had a good time.
