AEW will present the 2026 Redemption PPV tonight from Montreal. Here are our thoughts on what should happen!
Kenny Omega (AEW World Champion) vs. Kevin Knight
Mike: There's zero way there is a title change here, but the story should be Knight's ascension through having a great fight against Omega before going down.
Cory: As good as Kevin Knight is, they are not going to give up Omega vs Ospreay at All In for a Kevin Knight title run. I expect this will be a match to show how Kenny can win against a high flier.
Richard: This match does not scream PPV main event to me even though they have strapped enough rockets on Kevin to send him to Druidia. This is more a test of where Kevin is in the hierarchy of the company as well as the 'way too small' Don Callis group. Kenny will be the champion going into All In. This result could also cause more tension in the Callis group because I am sure Kyle will gloat over the loss.
Thekla (AEW Women’s Champion) vs. Willow Nightingale
Mike: Willow is awesome, but I see no upside to taking the title off the best and sleaziest woman in the company right now when there's so much more to mine.
Cory - This is a tough one for me, since I think Thekla is the best performer in AEW right now. Her promos are fantastic, and her ring work is excellent, but Willow has been a good soldier for AEW since her first match. We also know wherever wins face Mercedes Mone at All In, and there is a better story for Willow to face Mone than Thekla. I am going to go with Willow to capture the title.
Richard: Willow earned her title match as a result of the most illogically booked match in pro wrestling (the AEW first pinfall gauntlet match that never only has two people in the match). Thekla has been a good champion, but with her extracurricular activities in Japan, that might take her focus off the title. They had a decent segment on Wednesday night. Willow seems to be the current default setting for the women's division in AEW, but that is not a bad thing because she is good in the ring and has charisma. Is it time to take the title off Thekla? Which is the better match for All In . . . Thekla/Mone or Willow/Mone? If Mone is not going to win at All In, I give the title to Willow. If Mone is going to win in August, Thekla should retain.
Mark Davis (AEW National Champion) vs. Andrade El Ídolo
Mike: Davis is great but I would not at all be shocked at a title change here.
Cory - Davis is an excellent monster but they clearly have big things planned for Andrade. If he is to feud with the Don Callis Family, he’s got to take something from them, and no one really cares about the National title, that would be a good start.
Richard: This is the first step in the fracture of the Don Callis Avengers into their Civil War. Andrade has no love for Callis and he is going to take it out on Callis' guys. Davis has been a good champion, but it is finally time to put gold on Andrade. Who knows how long he holds it, but give it to him for the hat alone.
Hikaru Shida (AEW TBS Championship) vs. Maya World
Mike: Maya should not win here. I think she would get more out of once again coming close but losing. Shida could use the win.
Cory - This is a hard pick for me. Shide just completed her heel turn to win the title and it’s rare that anyone in AEW loses a title the first PPV after winning it. However, Maya has become the person who comes up short every time, and if they keep that up, the fans don’t root for her any more. I expect Shida to win, butI also expect it to be in such a way that the fans see Maya wasa cheated out of a victory.
Richard: Maya might be one of the best examples of 'right place . . . right time' to be where she is on the card. Like with Kevin Knight, it feels like she is getting many rockets to attach to her and has she exceeded the proper orbit? It would be a great story for her to win the title, but Shida just won the title. I think Maya's performance in this match will dictate her future in AEW. A strong match and she will be a regular title contender. If this match is a bit disappointing, then it might be some time before she gets another shot. I think Maya will contend in the future and she might win the title, but not now.
Kyle Fletcher (AEW International Championship) vs. Bandido
Mike: This should be a hell of a match. I don't see a title change here.
Cory - Everyone is banned from ringside here, and I love me some Bandido, but Kyle JUST won the title, so it will be another case of Bandido having a great match but not getting the title. He’ll have to keep benign content with the Ring Of Honor World Championship.
Richard: Bandido got the pin in the tag match on Dynamite (even if Okada caused the pinfall) so that should mean that Kyle wins based on the time tested and scientifically proven Inverse Transitive Theory of Go Home Show Results. It is only a matter of time before Kyle leaves the group (so probably around June 2029), but when it happens, it should get a great reaction. This should be a very good match and could steal the show. Kyle retains.
Cage and Cope (Adam Copeland and Christian Cage) (AEW Tag Team Champions) vs. Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli and Pac)
Mike: I could see a title change here.
Cory - Since they are getting beat down every week by the Death Riders, I fully expect Cage and Cope to get their revenge here. I also think that having the stadium in England signing Cope’s entrance theme will be an amazing moment. This match highlights the current Death Rider problem. Claudio and Pac are out and out heels while Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay are babyfaces for the most part (Mox gets cheered no matter what he does now because fans love tough guys). So, just what is this faction other than tough guys?
Richard: I don't think the titles change in this match. I don't see C&C Wrestle Factory holding the titles past London where they will probably face the winner of the Young Bucks/Death Riders match (which, when you consider who is on the Death Riders team, it makes the winner obvious using this theory)
“The Painmaker" Chris Jericho vs. Tommaso Ciampa - No Holds Barred
Mike: The right thing to do here is having Ciampa win soundly.
Cory - Jericho has done the job for Ciampa all through this feud, and bringing out the Painmaker wasn't something I expected. Does Ciampa get the victory again here? I think he should, as Ciampa is someone who will be in AEW for a long time, and Jericho is closer to the end of his run than Ciampa. However, bringing out the Painmaker makes me think Jericho gets the win and they both go their separate ways after this match.
Richard: Jericho has been motivated since his return and Ciampa has been very good since he debuted in AEW. Aren't most AEW matches 'No Holds Barred' because of the referees (well 90% of them). There will be violence. There will be blood. How is this different than four or five other matches on this card? Ciampa should win, but will he?
Death Riders (Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay) vs. The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson)
Mike: I don't see a world where Ospreay has any losses before Wembley.
Cory - Mox and Ospreay HAVE to get the win here, and the Bucks feel like they were thrown in at the last minute to keep the storyline flowing for Omega and Ospreay. I also think this is where we get the Motor City Machine Guns coming into AEW. The Bucks have also been wearing shirts with The New Day’s colors but they aren't free from the WWE contract yeti, so I could see a New Day tease followed by the MCMG showing up.
Richard: I said above that the winner of this match would challenge for the tag titles at All In, so unless Will pulls double duty like MJF did in the past, this is a no brainer under my theory. I think the Bucks win the match and we see some tension between Mox and Os during and after the match.
Jack Perry vs. The Beast Mortos vs. Komander vs. "Speedball" Mike Bailey vs. Nick Wayne vs.El Clon - Ladder match for a shot at the International Championship
Mike: I'm calling Speedball with Mortos as the dark horse.
Cory - Boy, they sure are pushing Speedball, aren’t they? This will be your crazy spotfest for the night and Speedball wins so he can go after members of the Don Callis Family.
Richard: If Bandido wins the title on this show, I can see Komander, Clon, or Mortos winning If Fletcher retains, I do see anyone standing out. They want to make Bailey a big star and a win in this match would do a lot to try to achieve that goal. This could all be a red herring and Jack Perry wins. Isn't it convenient that AEW is doing a ladder match for a Number One Contender Spot for a Secondary(ish) title when WWE is doing a ladder match for the main women's title a week later?
Bang Bang Gang (Jay White and Juice Robinson) vs. The Dogs (David Finlay and Clark Connors) - Double Chain Match
Mike: It should be the Dogs.
Cory - I was a little surprised that the crowd was fairly cold for the Jay White match this week, as it was his first singles match in over a year, and he and Clark Connors worked hard to get the crowd into it. Still, this is Jay White’s first PPV match, so I expect a victory for the Bang Bang Gang with a brutal match and a beat down afterwards.
Richard: Since this is a feud that has bled over from New Japan, I wish they could bring in Red Shoes but he is busy with the final two matches of every G1 show., so find a pair of red shoes for Bryce or Knox. Jay has been on a roll since his return and I see him and Juice getting the win.
