Smackdown didn’t exactly grab me, but here we go anyway;
1. Cody/Gunther; after SNME, can these two just be done? As Adam Pearce might say, “I’ve had my fill, it’s official“.
I typed this before I watched SNME so I don’t know what happened there yet. My hope is that Cody stays out of the championship picture for a while. He doesn’t need to be in it and with Punk just returning, it’s too soon to take it off of him. Cody should stay away from the belt for a while and make the fans organically want to see him win it again. Of late, it seems like they keep forcing him back into the Title spot. I don’t have any issue with Gunther vs. Cody though. I like them both.
2. The Interim Women’s Champion announcement; uh…..no thank you. Is there some reason that they just don’t take the title off of Rhea? This new way of dealing with it just seems unnecessary and possibly booking themselves into a corner.
I. HATE. INTERIM. CHAMPS! Why do it for Rhea but not for Seth? It’s stupid. If the champ can’t defend the belt, they should be stripped of it. It’s cheap, lazy booking to do Interim silliness.
A. What if Rhea is out for an extended period? (if she needs surgery). Do you have an iterim champ for 9 months? A year?
100 percent agreed. It’s a cheap booking hack to me.
B. Is this the standard operating procedure going forward, interim champs? Seems like a UFC thing, not a wrestling thing.
God, I hope not. It sucks.
3. The former MFTs; well, Finn has taken care of them quickly and convincingly. What do you do with them now?
One thing is for sure, Solo looks better now. They leave him and they are losers. Meanwhile, Solo has been on the rise big time. I have loved his recent character change. His facials when he put up the ONE and then turned his thumb was awesome. I am glad that they finally realized that’s how good he is. As for the MFTs? Man, I have no idea where they go now.
4. Did anything on the show stand out to you as really good? It just felt “ meh “ to me.
I liked the main event segment, for sure. It made me interested in the SNME match. As I said above, I loved what Solo did, as well as LA Knight and Royce Keys.
