Scenic City Invitational - Night 2
7/18/26 Red Bank, TN
Here we go with the final event of 2026’s SCI!
Match 1: Kenzie Paige vs A-Game Joseph Alexander
Kenzie is one of my faves for winning this tournament but A-Game has a LOT to prove tonight. Paige won’t shake hands. “We’re not friends”. Alexander also catches her with a rollup and she is furious. Kenzie slaps and throws hard strikes. This awakens the fire in A-Game and he unloads on her. Kenzie staying in it but Alexander
Keeps clubbing her down. Fast tornado crossface turns the tide briefly but Kenzie gets gutted in the ropes. Alexander tries a fireman’s carry….crucifix bomb! If last night was an exercise in how Kenzie deals with a frustrating but compet grappler, tonight highlights her ability to work underneath and go toe to toe with a stronger styler striker. A-Game sent to the floor…Kenzie torpedos after him! Trading chops on the apron. Trading superkicks sends Joseph tumbling back into the ring! Superplex! Brain buster. Kenzie kicking out! Kenzie with a defiant middle finger. A-Game hits a GTS and a claymore kick…Kick out!!!! Ref Gina tripped in front of them…Kenzie hits a cutter off Gina’s back! Another cutter! Alexander kicks out!!! Trading blows slowly. Back and forth they go. What a match this has been! Kenzie hits a side saddle code red! Trading rolls ups! She tries to pull the tights! A-Game kicks out and another claymore puts the lights out. Joseph Alexander advances to the finals after a MONSTER of an opener.
Match 2: London Lightning vs Isaiah Broner
Boy, this crowd does NOT like London Lightning. Broner sure seems like a capable solution to this problem. London mocks and taunts Broner but ducks and dodging and flipping away but not really doing anything. Broner gives him a chop and London Lightning is now well aware of his situation. He tries to run but there’s a wall in the way. He tries to chop Isaiah but his palm just melts off. Broner very calmly drags London around the room and lights him up with chops and forearms. Broner gets tripped into the chairs…London wraps his legs around the ring posts. He tries to capitalize on his damage but Broner just decks him. Lightning blatantly removes his wrist tape and eye pokes when the red turns around to deal with this trash. Broner might be hurting but he easily catches a charging London and plants a black hole slam. Corner charges. Uranage. Kick out! London Lightning wants more pain? He rams Broner into the ref! London grabs a chair….it just bounces off Isaiah’s back. Broner won’t use it which lets London take the wheels out with a chop block and a hidden blade. Kick out! Broner is done with this guy. Powerbomb….he picks up steam and turns Lightning inside out with a lariat for the three!
Match 3: Big Dave Weaver vs Effy
Dave’s the biggest man alive and Effy wants to know HOW big that is. They trade slaps but this turns into Dave just slapping Effy into the floor and hitting the cactus apron elbow! Effy traps Dave in the ropes for a kind of reverse tarantula? Dave launches himself through the ropes! Back to trading hard shots until he’s stomping a mud hole in Effy. Effy out of there and hits that earthquake splash a few times. But Dave is kicking out! Both guys clobber each other and they collapse to the mat. Dave up and charging but runs right into Effy’s waiting rear. Blockbuster! Effy with a trio of yakuza kicks! Dave won’t stay down! Powerbomb! Spike piledriver! Effy kicks out! Spear! Surfboard stomp! Dave looks dead but kicks out! Big split in the crowd for these two! Dave misses the lariat. Sack Rider connects! Kick out! Big Dave hits the Marist this time and gets the three!
Match 4: Shimbashi vs The Wall Tyler Stephens
This is KIND OF like Broner vs London, except Shimbashi knows EXACTLY what he’s in for. He’s trying to stick and move and take the wheels out from under Stevens. Tyler is having a rough time keeping up with this kid until he boots him right into the wall. “WALLBASHI” chants the crowd! “ can they both win???” - Wall lays Shimbashi out over and over and demands the ref check on him repeatedly. Wall is just manhandling his opponent. Big boots. A black hole slam. Shimbashi keeps kicking out but he’s just barely alive…and then finally gets a head scissor takedown that puts Wall on the concrete. Wall misses an apron legdrop. Shimbashi cannonballs at him! Sling blade! Backstabber! Wall comes in for a boot…Shimbashi gets a walls of Jericho on there! BREAK DOWN THE WALLLLLLS! Stevens escapes. Another powerbomb! Another kickout! Shimbashi with a ddt. Top rope elbow gets a ONE! A second elbow drop! TWO! Shimbashi goes back up….the 3rd, 4th and 5th connects! Wall kicks out again! Shimbashi goes for the finish but Wall catches his neck in a guillotine…he stands it up and a panicked Shimbashi frantically taps out. Stevens admits he’s sorry it’s gotta be Shimbashi so he doesn’t hold that position any longer than he needs to. Wall walks to the back while the crowd gives Shimbashi a huge ovation for this effort!
Time for some non-tournament action!
Match 5: Davina Thorne & The Thirst (Ravenna Vein & Kelsey Raegan) vs Poon Patrol (Anakin Murphy, Dimitri Alexandrov & POONDAWG)
After two attempts at getting a W this weekend against ACTION Futures winner Ravenna, maybe Davina can finally get it by being her partner? I dunno. They are fighting the POONDAWG (who is definitely NOT Tank). Thorne starts by belittling Murphy and slapping the crap out of him. Ravenna tags in, POONDAWG whips out a crucifix. He’s not into this kind of thing. The ladies gang up and beat the heck out of T…POONDAWG. Triple knee sends him stumbling back to tag Dimitri. He doesn’t fare much better, eating a moonsault to the floor by Kelsey. Raegan finally gets trapped in the patrol’s corner. She escapes Dimitri and gets to Ravenna but Davina tags herself in to beat on Murphy. The Thirst hit a widow’s peak, sparkle splash combo…Dimitri makes the save! The patrol starting to lay out their opponents…but then POONDAWG gets ddt and sent out. Dimitri sent flying off the apron. Murphy left alone. Davina wants to help but her partners send her flying to the floor. Anakin eats a spinning backfist/spear combo and is dropped for the three.
Davina tries to celebrate…her partners kill her. POONDAWG tries to celebrate…Ravenna drops him with a spear. Everyone is gone but POONDAWG is left on the mat and it takes playing his music to get him back up to dance to the back! What a sight.
Match 6: Oldman Youngboy vs Kasey Owens
Oldman won the men’s side of the Futures tournament earlier today. Oldman grappling with Owens but it finding himself getting smothered early. Oldman really good at that leg scissor takedown but Owens manages to grab the heel too and we have a stalemate. Good transitions from hold to hold as these guys keep things firmly grounded. This is a dead even chess match. Kasey Owens finally slams him down with a urange and wraps up a dead rear naked choke that forces Youngboy to tap out. Great showing but Oldman is definitely not ending the night FEELING like a winner.
Scott Hensley announces that the 2027 edition of SCI will be July 15-17!
Match 7: J.A.C. vs Shean Christopher vs Clara Carter vs Tyler Franks vs The OXP vs Jamesen Shook (w/ Dylan Hales) - (Night Two Scramble - Winner is entered into the 2027 SCI)
It’s interesting that we have someone eliminated in the first round and a former SCI winner in the scramble field tonight. J.A.C. Sends everyone flying….but Shook misses all of this and gets pummeled with chest clubs and shoulder blocks. People come flying but JAC catches and beats them all. Carter finally takes out the leg and Franks softens him up with a sleeper. JAC tries to choke out Shook but Dylan smack him with the loaded backpack. OXP and Franks goes toe to toe when that doesn’t end things. Shean with a flying kick. Carter cuts him off. Shook powerbombs Carter for two. JAC IS BACK! Shook has a prayer break but it doesn’t matter. JAC destroying everyone….and then Clara uppercuts him in the junk. This kind of chaos continues. Shean tries to come off the top but Dylan interferes….Shean Christopher and Shook brawl out the front door! The end comes as Clara Carter sends OXP flying and plants Tyler Franks with a package piledriver for the win!
We have our SCI Hall of Fame segment. This year inductees:
Jimmy Rave - ROH/TNA legend & the 1st SCI winner. “A master of blending psychology and work rate” says Scott Hensley. Wildside vets Matt Griffn and White Trash induct Rave with an emotional tribute to a foundational and fallen member of the Southeast wrestling family. Sal Rinauro accepts the award on behalf of Jimmy. He says that Jimmy doesn’t deserve his spot in this HoF as a gift. He EARNED it. Jimmy Rave is forever.
Shaun Tempers - “The Suggah”, “The Sleeper Cell”, “The Temptation”. A Chattanooga-raised NWA vet and one of the longest reigning NWA North American Heavyweight Champions of all time. Tank and the Reverend induct Shaun, as former members of the Devil’s Rejects. He was forced to retire after an injury cut his career short. Tank calls him one of his wrestling kids. Shaun Tempers himself accepts the award, making his first public wrestling appearance since his injury in 2015. Shaun is proud of being from Chattanooga and being able to represent in the SCI HoF, especially on the same year as Jimmy Rave, one of the first people to put him over in the business. He says that most of his wrestling memorabilia was stolen a few years back and he’s so grateful to have a few more items to help remember and commemorate those times.
James “Grandbud” Higdon - Jaden Newman’s grandfather, who founded TWE Chattanooga 15 years ago. Jaden Newman himself does the induction. Jaden has been on the injured list since late last year so he loved feeling the crowd again. Jaden talks about how his 70-year old grandfather supported his wrestling dream so much that he bought a ring, rented a building and helped to build the future of Chattanooga wrestling. He is the reason we are here, why the SCI is a thing and why TWE is a known company worldwide. The owner of TWE is here today! Higdon hugs his grandson. He’s not really prepared to talk so the crowd chants for “Grandbud”. He says he feels like he’s the Grandbud for everyone in the room and everyone in the back. TWE agrees heartily. Jaden has one last surprise. He has renamed the building “The Bud Higdon TWE Arena” going forward in tribute to the legacy of his grandfather.
Scott Hensley makes one last announcement: the first member of next year’s SCI Hall of Fame? Referee Sean Patrick O’Brien. SPO enters in 2027!
Main Event: A-Game Joseph Alexander vs Isaiah Broner vs Big Dave Weaver vs The Wall Tyler Stephens (4-way Lucha Tag Rules Elimination Match SCI Tournament Final)
The entrances are incredible tonight and sell the importance of this. Wall is imposing and stalks to the ring under low lights. Oldman Youngboy corners A-Game in a MMA style entrance. Broner enters through the back door with a full entourage. Big Dave pulls up to the venue in a pickup truck and comes in the front door. Awesome.
We are READY for war! Wall and Dave kick this off. They shove…A-Game wants a climb and tags Dave. Wall easily shoves Alexander down. Dave tags back in and lets Alexander know he has prior beef with the wall….so he needs to handle this. So Broner tags in on Wall and shoves Dave down. Dave charges and bounces off. He’s not scared…but neither is Isaiah Broner. A-Game wants a piece of this. He tries to take the leg….Broner smashes him. And that’s how this starts, with every guy starting something and getting pulled away at the last second. Alexander staggers Wall with some heavy hands. Dave bowls him over with a boot. Belly to belly for two. A-Game rolls out and Wall is in. The fight continues! Heavy hands back and forth! A-Game joins the fray and stuns them with a flurry of knee strikes. And then they smash Alexander. Broner comes in and double clotheslines the other big men. Alexander starts working Isaiah’s legs, just trying to execute some kind of strategy on his seemingly impervious opponent. Broner chops free of a crab attempt and just tosses A-Game aside. Ow. Joseph still targeting the feet. Heavy kicks to the legs and back of the head…which immediately cease to be relevant when Broner pops up up for a powerbomb. Big Dave in there and draws the line in the proverbial sand. People gotta stop trying to trade chops and forearms with Isaiah Broner. It’s goes so bad for you. Soooooo bad. Dave won’t give this up….he stomps the foot that A-Game worked over…he comes in for a boot but Broner pops up and lariats Dave down gland get the theee for our first elimination.
A-Game back in there. And he too is trying to go toe to toe but he has more stick and move than Big Dave did. But a single punch from Broner crumbles him.A-Game start scoring with kicks but runs into a Black Hole Slam. Wall gets in there and bowls Broner over! He puts A-Game in the guillotine…does he go to sleep? NORTHERN LIGHTS FOR TWO!!!! Joseph Alexander is still in it!!! High cross body over the top rope to Wall and Broner! The crowd really popping for A-Game. Alexander with a flying knee but Wall shrugs it off. Powerbomb from Stephens! Another flying knee! Wall kicks out! A-Game tries to kick Wall’s head off but eats a chokeslam. As soon as he kicks out, Wall slaps on that guillotine again and this time, Joseph Alexander goes to sleep and is eliminated.
Down to Wall and Broner! What a meaty final two! High velocity forearms back and forth start to slow as these two monsters get exhausted. Broner bounces off the ropes with a spear! F5! Wall kicks out! Broner tries the spear again but flies straight into the guillotine choke! He survives the arm test! Broner stands up! Wall dropping bombs! Crowd loudly split between these two. Wall tries to catch Broner in the corner but comes running straight into one of those huge lariat and Isaiah Broner gets the three count to win the 2026 SCI Tournament!!!!!! Awesome final! Seriously y’all. I’ve been making the trek to Chattanooga from MA for the last four years for a REASON. This is a GOOD DAMN WEEKEND OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING.
Last year’s winner Jamesen Shook is out here to present the trophy to Broner, who suddenly realizes everyone wants him to do a speech. The crowd chants give him a moment to collect his thoughts. He says there are people who say he’s too nice, too humble…but right now he’s the best in the f***ing world. He busted his *** for eight years to get this moment. He’s earned every opportunity…and he plans to not let this victory lie on its own. Broner wants to be everywhere.
We have one last thing. Tank comes out and gives a special tribute to Scott Hensley, who is leaving the business in October. Scott thanks everyone for the love. He’s loved all the work he’s been able to do for the wrestling community for the last two decades and is ALSO glad to be able to spend more time with his family.
