Scenic City Invitational 2026 - Night 1
3/17/26 Red Bank, TN
The 11th edition of SCI starts tonight with our first round matches plus a special defense of the IWTV championship later on!
Match 1: Tyler Franks vs Joseph A-Game Alexander
Franks definitely impressed me last night with his showing at Night ZER0 but he is against a very motivated A-Game, making his return to SCI after a failed bid to win the Action Futures tournament a couple years ago. Franks shows his power off early but Alexander shows that he can muscle Tyler around too. Both guys can grapple. Both guys can strike. This opener is a pure work rate WAR. Franks survives a GTS and a burning hammer! A blue thunder doesn’t put Alexander down. A-Game connects with a claymore that finally folds up Franks for the three. This match was F***ING SICK.
Match 2: Chase Holliday vs The Wall Tyler Stevens
Wall warmed up last night by throwing a bunch of people around in the King of the Mountain scramble. Tonight, the crowd is behind him in the 1st round against “the worst person in the world”. They trade hard chops and both no sell…we got us a MEAT MATCH!!! They take it to the floor, Chase traps Wall in the ropes and unloads…and the Tyler gives it right back. “Is that what it is Chase? You like getting beat up?” Tells Tyler as he puts the boots to Holliday. Chase rallies back and chops the leg out from under the big man. Wall almost goes lights out after a series of elbows all around his dome. Holliday breaks out of a muscle buster and boots Chase over. Holliday kicks out an Impaler…but Stevens holds onto the guillotine choke and puts Chase to sleep to advance by ref stoppage. It was really cool to see Chase get a spot in SCI this year but it was clear how much Wall has been improving his game year over year.
Match 3: Kenzie Paige vs Sal Rinauro
The crowd is VERY pro-Kenzie - which contrasts the last time I saw her in this building. Sal is just fun loving and goofy…and also a seeming technical wizard who is driving Paige crazy with his reversals. Kenzie finally suplexes him into the buckles, after trying to beg off and apologize. Missile dropkick for two. Kenzie starts arguing with ref shiny shoes as she tries to grind Sal down. Sal with a big German starts the rally and Kenzie is having a bad trip. They trade superkicks but no one will stay down. Sal won’t tap to a crossface. Sal tries his own. It Kenzie hits a cutter! Sal with a 619! A powerbomb. A jay driller! Kenzie gets the rope! Sal tries a PK off the apron but Kenzie trips him up and hits a pair of cutters for the win. Fantastic match that blew my expectations away. Sal Rinauro is for real!
Match 4: Danny Orion vs Shimbashi
Sometimes partners, sometimes opponents: Tonight, New Fever explodes in the opening round of the SCI! Orion wants to have a buzz ball break with his friend Shimbashi, before they get to it? Nah, it’s a trap. Huge blindside, dive to the floor, swanton bomb for two! “What is wrong with you?!?l yells Shimbashi before dropkicking his friend’s head off. Orion gets a crazy looking stretch on and just bops Shimbashi into the buckles. Shimbashi with a surfboard swing and gets the same humiliating effect in Orion. The crowd understands they are best friends: “it’s time to die, best friend”. Shimbashi catches Danny running and starts unloading Germans and elbow drops! Orion almost gets this with an alligator clutch! Shimbashi survives a series of splashes! Orion hits an outside inside German! Shimbashi snatches Orion out of the air with his own German and a discus lariat prompts our first THIS IS AWESOME of the night. Orion hits a top rope double stomp and a CRUCIFIX DESTROYER FOR TWO!!!!! they trade a bunch of quick pin attempts but Shimbashi pulls Orion up and hits a stuffed DDT for the win. Excellent excellent fight here. The crowd NOW calls for a buzz ball celebration! The friends hug and take in the crowd’s appreciation.
Match 5: London Lightning vs MacKenzie Morgan
London is “really good at pro wrestling” and is trying to offer lessons to Morgan. Mackenzie quickly shows this loudmouth that she can hang. Morgan heads to the top but London shoves ref Gina into the ropes and knocks Morgan off. What the helllllllll! Morgan rallies back after a beating. The crowd, who NEEDED a wind down after that last one, starts getting louder. London with the most awkward looking powerbomb I’ve seen in a minute. Mackenzie hits a superkick and a sling blade but the cover takes way too long. Morgan goes deep on an Accolade. The crowd wants the tap. No dice. Morgan tries a series of boots and knees but London hits a big elbow, a flapjack into a knee and a fisherman buster all in a row for the win. Good finish but the pace here was weird for me.
Match 6: Isaiah Broner vs Dimitri Alexandrov
Big Poppa Broner vs Deathmatch Jesus closes the first half! But this IS NOT a Deathmatch. Ring the bell and they fly into the brawl….but Broner drops Dimitri with a well placed right hand and nearly gets the win by 10 count TKO. It’s clear that the war Dimitri had with Tank last night took a LOT out of him, as his forearms seem to have lost everything behind them. Broner taking this slow and methodical…beating the heck out of Alexandrov at ringside. Dimitri shoves back and hits a man apron cannonball! They get back into it and maybe Dimitri has woken up? They get into a ridiculous rapid trade of slaps before Broner cuts him in half with a spear. Alexnadrov with a powerslam out of the corner for two! He looks rejuvenated after how this started. Broner has HAD IT and lands out of the hardest lariats I’ve seen in a WHILE. A powerslam from Broner puts Dimitri down for the three. That was a very hard hitting fight and whoever Broner has to fight in Round Two should be worried.

Match 7: Big Dave Weaver vs Anakin Murphy
Dave is covered in bandages after his fight with John Wayne Murdoch last night. Dave doesn’t even want to take his shirt over just so he can keep these wounds covered. Anakin is more than happy to have a weakened opponent…but he is still at least half Dave’s size and that is proving to be bad news for Murphy early on. Dave misses an elbow drop and he hurts himself. Murphy tries to capitalize but Dave keeps whipping him around. Murphy keeps trying dodge and hurt Dave where he can. He avoids an Oklahoma stampede by tearing at Dave’s elbow tape! Murphy trying to catch Dave but ends up eating a lariat that connects enough to put Anakin down for the three. Dave wants a handshake, Anakin doesn’t want it….the crowd wants it….Murphy gives Big Dave a smooch and steals everyone’s collective heart!
Match 8: Effy vs Kelsey Raegan
Good split in this room for both competitors as Effy invites her to the floor to enter HIS WORLD. Kelsey gives Effy a little striptease before superkicking his head off. Effy on the run as Raegan gives chase and continues beating his a**. Effy catches her in the corner. Big boot wash for two! Raegan gets on a Tarantula style choke…Effy tries an electric chair but eats a poisonrana for two! Effy with a desperate chop but Kelsey starts Unloading. Effy with an airplane spin into a cutter for two! Ravenna Vein is out here to distract Ref Gina, allowing Kelsey to flip out of a chokeslam and uppercut the nethers! Kelsey with a running boot and Effy’s face explodes with color! Effy back in to it with a blockbuster and a spear for two! He tries to come off the top but Kelsey gets up there with a superplex! Kelsey tries to get a kill shot in but rubs into Effy’s chokeslam. Ravenna interferes with the pinfall…Ref Gina tries throwing her out. Raegan goes to mist Effy….he kisses her, sucks out all the mist, spits it back in her face and hits the Sack Rider for the sudden three.
Main Event: Mance Warner(c) vs John Wayne Murdoch (for the IWTV Independent Wrestling Championship)
Old Mancer laid out this open challenge for Night 1. JWM called his shot last weekend at NHB and here we are! Mancer says he’s loved watching all this incredible wrestling but he’s not here to wrestle. He wants a fight! Mancer says it’s No-DQ. Anything Goes. This is JWM’s GAME….but it’s old Mancer’s game too! Murdoch with a claymore almost takes the W! They brawl into the crowd! Fighting and cussing and Announcer Scott Hensley throws up his hands as his generally family friendly show has gone deep into TV-M territory. Both guys unloading hard strikes through the room and not letting up at all. Murdoch nearly gets curb stomped properly. Both guys stagging as they have absorbed dozens of hits in this brawl. “It’s like Thursday night at IWA again” says Mancer. “Yeah, but they ARE getting paid” quips Scott. They FINALLY get back in the ring after nearly ten minutes of brawling to exhaustion. Mancer grabs a door. He crotches Murdoch with the lumber. We need more doors. I’m pretty sure we have them. And chairs. We got those too. Murdoch sets up the chairs for a bar fight. Back and forth they go again. They are feeding each other with these shots as they rise and brawl! Murdoch is staggered! Mancer hits the dusty elbow! Murdoch baits Mance in….drop toe hold to the chair and he tosses them both through a door! Murdoch takes a moment to set up a chair in the corner before he concertos Mancer’s hand. Try chopping now. Mancer makes JWM eats that chair. Big lariat for two! Mance sets a door onto chairs. Murdoch fights to the top…..superplex through the door! Mance kicks out! They both look spent but then explode in a series of quick rollups and reversals. Mancer wanted a fight…he got one. Tornado ddt into another door! Murdoch kicks out! Mance tries that move again but Murdoch stops him and hits a brain buster into the wood. This is awesome, says Red Bank! They throw some
Shots in the pocket…Murdoch tries to throw a headbutt but Mancer dodges, grabs the neck and hits an Impaler ddt for the win! AWESOME and VIOLENT main event clash!
As Mancer is celebrating…here comes ACTION champ Darien Bengston. He takes umbrage with Scott announcing JWM as the number one contender. But that’s not what PWI says! Darien says he likes Mancer a lot. He thanks him for making the scene a better place. He asks Mancer to hold onto that belt…because HE wants to be the man who takes the belt away from him. Mance says ANYTIME. “see you then” says Bengston. VERY interesting.
