Spotlight Match: Rain Conway vs Leedz Lewis
Rain welcomes his French opponent with plenty of disdain. But he does translate his “I got that dog in me” catchphrase to French. So I guess you can teach a cold dog new tricks. Leedz flips and flies but Rain starts keeping him grounded. Lewis kicks free of the rainmaker! Running cross kick to the chest! Trading shots! Lewis with a bulldog! Corkscrew senton! Moonsault for two! He tries a split legged moonsault but Rain gets the knees up. Lewis manages to reverse the next rainmaker…but the third attempt quickly follows and Leedz is sent back to Paris with a loss.
Match 1: Bobby Casale vs Devin Reno
This is just some straight up rock ‘em sock ‘em robots. Bobby and Reno keep bringing the fight but no one’s quitting. Devin takes a cheap shot in the ropes for a brief run of offense but Casale ain’t quitting. Both these guys just pummel the heck out of each other. Bobby keeps trying to get a sleeper on but Reno always has an answer. The crowd is definitely in Reno’s head and he delays a climb to the top to yell at people. Bobby recovers and hits a huge superplex! With a minute left, Bobby takes him to suplex city and hits an Olympic slam for two! Bobby almost collides with the ref and eats a fireman’s carry neckbreaker. Bobby slaps on that sleeper and time expires as Reno clearly goes to sleep. This is a time limit draw. Devon won’t give this another five and heads to the back before he has to fight again.
Match 2: Kylie Alexa vs Rachel Ley
Kylie is big on disrespecting Ley in her Open RI debut. Rachel hits some good flipping attack but Alexa finally boots her out of the sky and grounds her down. Kylie with a stiff head kick and a hip attack almost gets the W. Ley rallies back but you can tell the beating took a lot of the starch out of her attacks. She tries to head to the top but Kylie takes her legs out and hits the corner dropkick to get the win.
DJ Powers is out here and has a mic. I hate it. He’s back. No one misses him. But he’s been watching the show. And he hates Jermaine Marbury for disrespecting Nick Battee.
Match 3: DJ Powers vs Jermaine Marbury (w/ Benny the Basketball)
DJ is on a quest for respect that he will NEVER get. When he gets in then ring, Marbury quickly overwhelms him. DJ resorts to posting him and threatening Benny. Benny dodges a bronco buster and Powers lands…exactly as bad as you expect. High cross body for two! DJ fakes and injury as Benny throws Jermaine into the post?!? Who is under the felt?!? Jermaine gets counted out! Nick Battee bursts from the costume and works with Powers to blast Marbury in the head with his own D Fence. This is a match made in hell. No Battee No Battee noooo! What happened to the real BENNY?!? Did…did Nick kill him and wear his skin?!??
Dustin Waller is out here to troll Cranston with a fake Marcus Mathers entrance. He says Mathers is in the back and he wants him to pay attention to what’s about to happen.
Match 4: Dustin Flash Waller vs Flyin’ Ryan O’Neill (w/ Marcus Mathers)
This is a good matchup. Mathers corners O’Neill. Ryan has some new swagger to him…but he shouldn’t lose sight of how dangerous Waller is. O’Neill flaps his wingalings at Dusty and that’s a bad idea. Waller goes on a tear and makes the kid suffer. Ryan with a great blockbuster style stunner that almost gets it done. O’Neill goes for the finish but Waller fights free…And can’t stop jawing at Mathers at ringside. Waller misses the lethal injection…O’Neill tries a sunset flip but Waller sits deep into it and grabs the rope to get the three while staring down Marcus.
O’Neill is upset at Mathers. He knows Marcus saw Dustin cheat…so why didn’t he stop it?
Match 5: Simply the Best (BRG & Oxx Adams) vs Mama Bear (Bear Bronson & Bobby Orlando)
The big men want a piece of each other but BRG decides to be spoiler to the crowd. Bobby works him over and feeds Brett to the Bear. Crowd loves this. Oxx finally interferes and throws Bobby over the top to the floor. Adams gives our mom a solid beatdown. Bear tags in and sends Brett flying. Oxx and Bear get into an Arby’s meat fight. Bobby looks to come off the top but BRG clubs him and they both go flying. Bear and Oxx struggle to get a choke on but it’s Oxx who hits the sitout chokebomb for the shocker win with less than 30 seconds left on the clock! Adams cannot believe it and may have made a case for a run at a Bear’s Open title.
Main Event: Bryce Donovan (w/ Smart Mark Sterling) vs Ichiban (w/ Sammy Diaz)
Sterling has intense “HR Rep at a used car dealership” vibes in his outfit choice tonight. Sammy tries to keep him from cheating…and definitely serves as a distraction to let Ichiban get some retaliation shots in. Every time Mark cheats, Sammy gets a little back. Ichiban is giving Bryce a huge fight…but that doesn’t stop Donovan from catching him flying and blasting a chokeslam. Ichiban hitting some of these arial maneuvers but other times Bryce sends him flying further. Ichiban stringing reversals together! Codebreaker for two! Ichiban flips out of a chokeslam! Bryce hits a crucifix tossing powerbomb and meets him at the mat with a flying fist. GREAT SPOT. Ichiban kicks out! 111 connects! More shenanigans! Ichiban crotched on the buckles! Hangman’s cutter for two! Ichiban with an AA for two! Sammy finally has enough of Sterling and gives chase! Bryce posts him to save his cornerman! Ichiban comes flying to the floor! Bryce tries a huge chokeslam but eats the Ichi Bankai! Ichiban should have the win but Sterling runs in and attacks, drawing a DQ on Bryce.
Sammy joins the fray and takes out Bryce with a cutter! Ichiban grabs Smart Mark in a kimura. Sammy threatens to have the arm broken for real if he doesn’t agree to giving him and Ichi a shot against The Verdict with the stipulation of their choice. Mark tries to talk smack but some aggressive stretching convinces him otherwise. So next week? Sammy Diaz & Ichiban vs The Verdict….in an I QUIT MATCH!
