Dave Bautista has joined the voice cast of forthcoming animated film Ally.  The plot - "Ally, a curious and endearing piglet squid living in the uncharted depths of the South Pacific Ocean. She dreams of one day seeing the sun and becoming the star of a wildlife documentary. But when a mysterious aircraft sinks into the ocean, her peaceful world is suddenly thrown into danger. Alongside her loyal — yet unlikely — companions, Ally is thrust into an extraordinary journey that will take her all the way to the surface."  The film is being directed by Parasite director Bong Joon Ho and will also feature Bradley Cooper in the cast.

There were reports in the entertainment industry this week that Marvel Studios is developing a feature film based on their character Nova.  A member of the intergalactic Nova Corps, Richard Ryder was chosen by the dying alien Rhomann Dey. Empowered by the Nova Force, Richard gains superhuman strength, flight, incredible speed, durability, and energy projection. Initially a teenage hero balancing everyday life with crime-fighting, he later becomes one of Marvel's premier cosmic champions, playing pivotal roles in comic book events like Annihilation and defending the universe from threats such as Annihilus and Thanos. He is known for his courage, determination, and willingness to shoulder immense responsibility.  The reason I am even writing about this is the Marvel character was who Mike Bucci named his original Super Nova character in tribute to back in the mid 1990s after he was trained by the late Iron Mike Sharpe.  The film is early in development.

It was announced today that Paramount is staging a new G.I. Joe film.  There was no mention of Dwayne Johnson reprising his role of Roadblock in the film.

The Rock's live action adaptation of Moana has now made $99,591,086 worldwide, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.  It's very much a shot for shot recreation of the animated version of the film and did not spark success at the box office after debuting last week.  It appears the latest Minions film as well as Toy Story 5 blunted the effectiveness of the release for families, plus the live action version was not really something that was called for so quickly after the animated Moana 2 was released.  Johnson reprises his role as Maui in the film.
