Some questions following RAW, so let’s get to it.
1. I liked Maxxine doing a definitive break from Otis & Akira. I like clearly defined heels & faces, so stuff like this always works well for my tastes. Do you think, over the years, that WWE has let folks stay as tweeners a little too much ?
I am with you. Part of the reason people wanted Cody to finish the story was that he was the face and Roman was the heel. Fans like to know who they are reacting to. Sometimes people cheer for the heel, which is fine as long as that person is clearly defined. I think Maxxine did a great job.
2. I don’t much care for the segments where they have wrestlers playing police officers. When they get laid out, I just can’t suspend my disbelief in that Oba doesn’t get arrested. I know it’s pro wrestling and we all have to turn our logical brain off a lot, but this is the one situation where I can’t. How do you feel about stuff like this?
I don’t like it either except…….when they later have Adam Pearce tell us it was all a ruse. That made me like it because when Oba didn’t get arrested it made no sense. But, they made it made sense.
3. Joe Hendry - are they not capitalizing on him as well as they should, or is the mid-card just too crowded right now?
It’s a crowded space. As Mike Eps always says, who would I remove from a push to give someone else the spot. I can’t think of anyone right now.
4. Gable winning the gauntlet seemed to be the expected result; the crowd seemed subdued during some of the action, but popped huge for the final elimination. I didn’t see another logical winner here. If Gable wins at SS, they certainly have a string of challengers all laid out for him. Do you think he finally gets the big singles run?
I sure as hell hope so. He can get people behind him as a babyface if they commit to him. They have yoyo’d him so much that they have to prove to people that they can get behind him and not get screwed.
5. I’m really looking forward to the 6 man tag with Knight, Keys & Solo. There’s cases to be made for either team to win, so that’s already a big plus for me and adds some intrigue. Do you think the match could be a good show opener on one of the nights?
I loved it too. Solo was awesome with his facials and it’s no secret that I love the work he has done. I am looking forward to that match.
6. Roman & Seth trade some great verbal jabs before trading fists, it was well done. However I did note a lot of boos after Seth stomped him and laid him out. Roman, despite his arrogance seems pretty immune to getting booed. As a character, he’s earned a punch in the mouth. Is this just where Roman is now? He can do & say as he pleases and the fans are fine with it?
But, they also did the “what” routine to Roman. I don’t know who is who either but since Roman is bringing Jalen Brunson to SNME, I can’t see that making him a heel unless he does something nasty on the show. HHH is to blame for this with his borderline obsession with tweeters. It feels like he is trying to take a successful concept that has always worked in Pro Wrestling and make it something different. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
