Kenny Omega will defend his AEW World Championship against Will Ospreay at AEW All In.
Both Ospreay and his fans had been asking for this match for a long time now. Ospreay returned to AEW earlier this year during the Revolution pay-per-view and went on to win the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. At that time, MJF still held the AEW World Title, and there was only one thing left to do. So Kenny Omega challenged him for the title and ended up winning it.
So far, AEW has gotten everything right in this storyline, and to cap it off, they just need to do what everyone is hoping for, and that is to have Ospreay become the new World Champion. With the event taking place in London, Ospreay is naturally the favorite here. If you’re considering betting on the action, here’s a list of all UK sites.
On AEW Dynamite Beach Break, Kenny Omega faced MJF in the main event for the AEW World Title. Like always, MJF tried to cheat his way through the match with his Dynamite Diamond Ring. But this time, Will Ospreay intervened and stopped him from doing that.
The Salt of the Earth resorted to using a low blow against Omega, but The Cleaner completely no-sold it. Shortly after, Omega delivered three V-Triggers followed by the One Winged Angel to win his second AEW World Championship. Ospreay already had a title match scheduled for All In, and now he’ll face Omega instead.
The PPV will take place at Wembley Stadium in London, Will Ospreay’s home country. Ospreay has been part of previous All In: London events in 2023 and 2024.
While the company could’ve had MJF go up against Ospreay at AEW All In for the second time, and there’s no doubt both stars would’ve given an incredible performance, there’s no currently bigger match than Ospreay vs Omega for the title.
The ticket sales reflected the same, as the announcement of this match led to 2,000 tickets moving in a matter of days. Wrestling fans are clearly excited to see Ospreay go up against Omega in a World Title match.
Both have faced each other numerous times before, but the final moment where one truly passes the torch to the other has never really happened in AEW. The last time they faced each other was at AEW Forbidden Door 2023, but Ospreay wasn’t an AEW wrestler back then.
Ospreay vs Omega is the better match for AEW All In than Ospreay vs MJF. Both stars are 1-1 against each other, and a trilogy would be the perfect way to culminate their storyline. Ospreay talked about this during an interview as well, and said that he would like to defeat Omega clean this time around as opposed to needing Don Callis’ help in 2023.
Originally, fans thought that Omega would defeat MJF at AEW Redemption, which takes place in Montreal, Canada, and win in front of a home crowd. This seems to have been the original plan as well, but MJF pushed for the match to take place on Dynamite instead.
Nevertheless, Omega has gotten his big moment in front of the fans. The only thing left for Omega is to pass the torch in London. It’s a title Ospreay has never held, but one he’s earned through years of dominating global leagues and delivering classic performances in front of massive crowds. At Wembley, with his home nation behind him, there’s simply no better opportunity to crown him as the AEW World Champion, both for his arc and for AEW’s future.
