The live action Moana, starring The Rock as Maui, made $43 million on opening weekend in the US and $95 million worldwide, way less than the $130 miilion worldwide projected.
Deadline also reported that the movie stands to lose between $100-$125 million.
The timing of the movie's release coming less than two years after the animated Moana 2 hit theaters is partly being blamed for the movie not doing great opening day numbers.
