We take a look back at Raw when the Smackdown title was defended and lost by Sami Zayn to CM Punk.
Nick Aldis is in the ring and he welcomes everyone to Smackdown. Nick says he wants to discuss his situation. He mentions his issues with Gunther at Night of Champions. Nick says he feels justified but he takes responsibility for what he did. He says he has been reinstated as GM to work on Smackdown.
Nick introduces the new WWE Champion, CM Punk.
Nick welcomes Punk to Smackdown and he thanks Punk for taking his call on Monday.
Punk says he wonders what he is going to say but he has to say "I miss you". Punk says he has been negotiating over the last few months with management to be brought to Smackdown. The negotations got expedited and he was called about a title match. When title matches fall out of the sky, he takes them. He got dressed at home, kissed his wife, and drove across town on Monday night.
Punk says he is not like other wrestlers or other champions. If you saw what he did on Monday, he will be that champion on Friday night. That means fighting on television and defending his title whenever he can. He does not call himself the best in the world because he is cocky, he says it is to motivate him because of all of the people in the locker room who want this title.
Punk says if you think he has something that belongs to you, come and get it. If you think you have what it takes to beat the best in the world, come on out. He says he is not hard to find. Punk says he heard what Sami Zayn had to say about him on social media and he knows how Sami feels. Sami, you deserve a rematch. Punk mentions Gunther. He says he might regret mentioning his name. We remember what happened the last time they wrestled. Punk says he knows he can beat Gunther. Let's do it again. Punk mentions Finn Balor and points out that they went to war twice before and if you want to do it on neutral ground, he is his huckleberry. Punk mentions Royce Keys, Damian Priest, and Trick Williams. And . . .
Cody Rhodes' music interrupts and he makes his way tot he ring.
Cody checks Punk's chin before taking his mic.
Cody asks Punk how is his eye.
Punk says it looks worse than it feels. He asks Cody what does he want to talk about.
Cody says he did not come out to ask about his eye. The last time they were in the ring, the situation is mirrored and his eye was blacked. A championship opportunity fell out of the sky. There are those opportunities and there are matches that have built for years.
Punk says Cody must be talking about them. Punk says they have subconsciously been avoiding it. Maybe that is why he didn't mention Cody's name. They are friends and he didn't want anything to get in the way of that. Punk says he thought this would be the main event of Wrestlemania and they cannot run away from this any more.
Cody says that when they were in the ring and Cody was champion, Cody told him 'just say when'. Does that apply now . . .
Punk tells Cody . . . when?
Cody says SummerSlam.
Punk thinks about it and he offers his hand and Cody shakes it.
Nick says the match is official.
Cathy Kelley is int eh back and she mentions that Jade asked to face Alexa.
Jade says she is dressed to go and she is going to take care of Charlotte's friend.
Michin says maybe Charlotte needs to learn some lessons. Fab says Jade will snap Alexa like a twig.
Jade says she is not taking responsibility for what happens to Alexa because that blame is on Charlotte.
Match Number One: Finn Balor versus Tama Tonga
Finn with a double leg take down and a kick. Tama with an Irish whi and Finn floats over and he chops Tama a few times. Tama with a flying back elbow. Tama with a sunset flip but Finn rolls through and hits a drop kick because you don't sunset flip Finn Balor. Finn with a clothesline to send Tama to the floor. Talla trips Finn as Finn sets for a flip dive. Tama wiht a forearm to the back and he sends Finn into the turnbuckles. Tama with a neck breaker and a sliding D for a near fall. Tama chokes Finn in the ropes. Tama chokes Finn in the ropes again and the referee pulls Tama out of the way and Talla pulls Finn to the floor. Talla with a hot shot onto the apron. Tama with a clothesline off the ring steps.
Tama returns to the ring and the referee starts his count. Finn beats the count back into the ring and Tama with kicks. Tama with cross faces and he snap mares Finn and applies a reverse chin lock. Finn gets to his feet but Tama brings Finn back to the mat. Finn gets back to his fet and Tam with an elbow and punches. Tama with an Irish whip and he misses a splash into the corner. Finn with a rollup for a near fall. Tama with a back breaker and he gets a near fall. Finn with punches and Tama with a punch. Finn with a side Russian leg sweep and both men are down. Finn with punches and a flying forearm. Finn with a double leg take down and a double stomp. Finn with a chop into the corner.
Finn floats over on an Irish whip but Tama catches Finn. Finn escapes a power slam and hits a GTR for a near fall. Finn with kicks to Tama. Tama with punches and a spinning belly-to-back suplex for a near fall. Tama with a splash into the corner and Tama sets for another one.and hits it. Tama crawls back and he sets for another splash but Finn with sling blade. Finn with a running drop kick and he goes up top for Coup de Grace.
Talla gets on the apron and the referee stops him. Finn misses Coup de Grace and Tama with Cut Throat and Angel's Wings for a near fall. Finn counters a suplex with an inside cradle for a near fall. Tama is sent to the floor by Finn and Finn with a flip dive onto Tama and Talla. Finn sends Tama back into the ring and Finn with a running drop kick and he goes up top for Coup de Grace and hits itor the three count.
Winner: Finn Balor
Cathy is in the back with Carmelo Hayes.
She asks him about last week and their match tonight.
Hayes says he will not talk about proof and deserve because he has always done that. Hayes says he comes op short some times. Hayes says that Yachty is a good side kick. They say that Trick has aura and charisma and that is good, but that isn't about inside the ring. He will not throw out catchphrases like Trick.
Truth pays off Frazer and Axiom about the World Cup.
Erik and Ivar show up and he says they are sick of these games. He wants the tag title match.
Jimmy and Fatu show up and he asks if Truth has seen Solo.
Jimmy tells Truth to tell Solo he is looking for him.
Priest shows up and he says hello to Fatu.
Priest says he has seen Royce and he is here.
Fatu tells Jim it is time to go to the ring.
Truth wants to know why Priest did that and Priest says that Royce is not their problem.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Nick is on the phone with Sami. He acknowledges that Sami is on a mental health break. Nick says he has the authority to make the match.
Gunther shows up and Gunther hits the table and goes to the other side of Nick. He says it is his first day back and he made a big mistake. He says he can help Nick to fix it. He says he could stooge out Nick. He deserves to be in the ring with the champion. Nick has until the end of the night to fix this.
Nick says he will take it under consideration.
Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu are in the ring.
Jimmy says there is one reason they are here and he tells Solo to come out.
Royce Keys' music plays instead and Royce makes his way to the ring.
Jimmy says that Royce doesn't look like Solo and he wants to know why he is out here.
Royce says his issue with Jim is that he mentioned his name last week. YOu mentioned his name this week. Royce is going to take care of that. He says you are here to handle that 'family business'. It is affecting everyone around here and it is affecting him.
Jimmy says family business or not, it is about Roman.
Royce says that Jimmy runs plays for Roman and he isn't even here tonight.
Fatu gets in Royce's face. Fatu says they are tight so let's keep it like that. You can say anything else about anyone, but when it comes to Roman, please don't go there.
Royce tells Jacob it doesn't have to be like that.
Jimmy says Royce doesn't tell him what to tell them. He tells Royce he is not part of this family.
Royce says blood isn't about family, loyalty is about family. Your family has brother fighting brother and cousin fighting cousin. Royce says he could talk to his family members because he has no family. Jacot has been his family for the last fourteen years.
Jimmy tells Royce he is going to cross a line he can't come back from. He asks Royce if he understands him.
Royce says he didn't come here to fight tonight, but there is a line, and he just crossed it.
Jimmy says that Royce is crazy. They will put a beating on Royce.
Fatu stops Jimmy and he asks 'we'? It ain't no we here. This is on you and Fatu says that he is out.
Jimmy says that Royce has crossed the line and he asks for a referee.
Jimmy punches Royce but Royce with a short arm clothesline and he clotheslines Jimmy over the top rope to the floor.
We go to commercial.
Match Number Two: Jimmy Uso versus Royce Keys
Jimmy with a side head lock. Keys with a shoulder tackle and punches in the corner. Keys with an Irish whip and clothesline. Keys goes for a slam but Jimmy gets to his feet and he hits a thrust kick and an uppercut. Jimmy sets for a suplex but Keys counters and hits a suplex of his own. Keys gets a near fall and Jimmy rolls to the floor. Keys follows Jimmy to the floor and he goes for a spear but Jimmy moves and Keys hits the ring steps. Jimmy goes up top and he hits a cross body for a near fall. Jimmy with a rear chin lock. Keys with punches and Fatu with a dragon whip. Jimmy sends Keys to the floor and Jimmy with a suicide dive Jimmy sends Royce over the announce table.
Jimmy sends Keys into the ring steps. Jimmy sends Keys back into the ring and Jimmy poses on the apron. Keys with punches and Jimmy with a head butt and reverse chin lock. Keys with punches and Jimmy with a pop up Samian drop. Jimmy sets for a running hip into the corner but Keys recovers and hits a clothesline. Keys with a splash into the corner followed by an Irish whip and another splash. Keys with another Irish whip and splash. Keys goes for a thrid combintion but Jimmy with a boot to Keys. Jimmy comes off the turnbuckles and Keys wiht a power slam. Keys picks up Jimmy and hits a power slam for a near fall. The straps come down and Jimmy goes to the floor.
Keys blocks a punch and Keys slams Jimmy onto the announce table. Keys does it again. Keys breaks the referee's count and returns to the floor. Keys gets Jimmy up to send Jimmy into teh ring post but Jimmy escapes and sends Keys into the ring post.
SOlo shows up behind Jimmy while Jimmy calls for a time out. Solo punches Jimmy and sets for a Samoan Spike.
Fatu's music plays and Solo stops. Fatu and Solo exchange punches. Fatu with a Tongan Death Grip and he sends Solo over the ringside barreier.
Back in the ring, Jimmy with a spear for the three count.
Winner: Jimmy Uso
After the match, Fatu and Solo fight into the ring and Fatu kicks Solo.
Keys stops Fatu and they stare each other down.
Fatu with a thrust kick and a back senton. Jimmy gives Fatu a chair and Fatu puts it over Solo's head. Fatu buffers and he sets for the running hip but he stops short. He tells Solo this is about the family and the next time, he won't stop.
We take a look at Sami's comments after he lost the title on Monday night.
Cathy is with CM Punk.
She asks about Gunther's comments.
Punk says he wants everyone to get in line to face him.
Candice and Gargano on a case show up.
Candice says that Sami is the only one who cared about Johnny. Sami was hope for the underdog and you stole it.
Punk says Candice had hope for nine days. He tells Johnny and Candice to get back to what they did best because this isn't working.
Finn Balor shows up and says he was hoping that Punk would bump into him. He welcomes Punk to Smackdown.
Match Number Three: Alexa Bliss versus Jade Cargill
