AEW Dynamite last night from the BayCare Sound in Boston, MA. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Taz
We start with Renee Paquette backstage with Kenny Omega, who cuts a promo about his world title match against MJF later tonight, and if he loses, he can never challenge for the world title again. He explains his mental state, how he is doing this on his own, and when he wins, he will be headlining the biggest AEW show of all time in Wembley Stadium.
Tommaso Ciampa vs Chris Jericho
Ciampa waits on the stage for Jericho to come out. Jericho comes out through the crowd and attacks Ciampa. They brawl down to the ring with Jericho in control. Jericho tosses Ciampa in the ring, works him over in the corner, and we see that Ciampa’s leg was busted open with one of the beach chairs on the stage. Ciampa is sent to the floor, and Jericho comes off the top onto him. Ciampa is rolled into the ring, and he is able to hit Jericho with a DDT as Jericho is starting to get into the ring. Ciampa nails Jericho on the apron, and they brawl there. Jericho hits a Death Valley Driver on the apron, and he follows Ciampa to the floor.
Jericho lays in chops and then slams Ciampa’s head into the steel steps. They fight on the steel steps. Ciampa slams Jericho’s head into the ring post and then gets a double underhook slam of Jericho’s head on the steel steps. Jericho is busted open, and then Ciampa attacks Jericho’s head with blows as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, they are throwing hands in the middle of the ring. Jericho gets a clothesline in the corner and then puts Ciampa on top and joins him there. Jericho gets ten in the corner, but Ciampa is able to pick up Jericho and gets a leaping side slam from the top. Ciampa lays in chops and Jericho is able to sweep the legs. Ciampa kicks free and goes for a Boston Crab. Jericho is able to get a rollup for two.
They fight in the corner, and Jericho gets a hurricanrana from the top and follows with a brain buster for two. They fight on their knees with chops and strikes as they work to their feet. Ciampa is able to knock Jericho down and grabs a sand pail at ringside. Jericho is able to get a codebreaker for two, knocking the pail away. Jericho gets a bulldog and misses a lionsault and Ciampa hits a pair of knee strikes for two. Ciampa lowers the knee pad and charges and Jericho grabs the leg and locks on the Walls of Jericho.
Ciampa grabs the bucket, but the ref pulls it away. Ciampa tosses sand in Jericho’s eyes and nails him with a knee strike for the pin and the win.
Winner: Tommaso Ciampa
Ciampa grabs a steel chair and hits Jericho with it. Ciampa grabs a tool bag from under the ring and gets a power drill. Security gets into the ring to get between Ciampa and Jericho. Ciampa backs off and heads to the back.
We are shown a video of Jaimie Hayter and Alex Windsor in a bar fight where they take out everyone in the bar.
Renee is with Will Ospreay, and he gives his opinion on the main event of MJF vs Kenny Omega. He wants it to be Omega vs Ospreay. MJF shows up and mocks him, reminding him he is living in the golden era of AEW and only MJF is to thank for it. MJF says that everyone is going on and on about Will Ospreay at Wembley, but he will make it so Omega can never challenge for the title again, and at Wembley, he will beat Ospreay as well. Ospreay says when it comes to being the best ever, MJF isn’t part of the conversation. MJF spits on Ospreay, and they throw hands. They are pulled apart by security, who are earning their pay tonight.
Konosuke Takeshita (International Champion) vs Kyle Fletcher w/Lance Archer
Don Callis joins commentary.
They lock up and Fletcher is able to force them to the ropes and Fletcher breaks with a chop. They trade arm bars and Fletcher gets a side headlock and they run the ropes. They don’t move when they hit shoulder tackles. They then start throwing hands before going back and forth and Takeshita gets a leaping clothesline. Takeshita is able to get ten in the corner
They run the ropes and Fletcher gets a shoulder tackle, then a running boot and knocks Takeshita to the floor. Fletcher gets a PK from the apron. Takeshita gets a running forearm and then has words for Callis at the announce desk. Fletcher dodges an elbow strike, and Takeshita hits the ringpost. Fletcher then works over Takeshita, rolls him into the ring, and continues the attack.
Fletcher works over Takeshita’s injured arm. Takeshita gets an exploder suplex. Fletcher rolls to the floor, and Takeshita dives onto Fletcher as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, they are throwing hands in the middle of the ring. They move to trading kicks. Takeshita goes for a leaping lariat, and Fletcher kicks him. Takeshita replies with a blue thunder bomb. Fletcher rolls to the apron, and Takeshita joins him there. They go back and forth, and Fletcher gets a thrust kick, and Takeshita gets a package piledriver into a wheelbarrow suplex, and both men are on the floor.
Takeshita rolls Fletcher into the ring and charges at Fletcher. Fletcher tries to pick up Takeshita but drops him. Takeshita gets a poisonrana, but Fletcher responds with a Michinoku driver for two. They run the ropes, and Takeshita gets a running clothesline and a scoop slam. Takeshita goes to the top, and Fletcher joins him there. Fletcher gets a big boot, and Takeshita drops to the mat on his feet, but he picks up Fletcher for a power bomb.
Callis distracts Takeshita so that Fletcher can get a running kick. Takeshita is still able to hit Raging Fire, and Fletcher gets a boot on the bottom rope at two. Takeshita drops the knee pad and charges, but Fletcher gets a rollup for two. Takeshita gets a back slide, but Fletcher is able to roll through and get a sheer drop brain buster for two. Fletcher nails a running kick and puts Takeshita on top. They fight on top, and Fletcher gets a brain buster on the top turnbuckle for the pin and the win
Winner and NEW International Champion: Kyle Fletcher.
The Don Callis family comes to the ring to celebrate as the Conglomeration comes out to assist Takeshita.
Mick Foley comes to the ring to interview Kyle Fletcher. Kyle says that Takeshita was never his friend, and he was the number one in their team. He then says Takeshita was riding his coattails. He did what he said he would do and brought the title back to the Don Callis Family. Callis cuts Foley off and says he doesn’t want Foley to take the spotlight from a talent.
Foley says he is putting the spotlight on his shoes with his dog on them. He says when he wears them, it brings him joy. Foley then says the next time Callis disrespects him, his shoes will get acquainted with the inside of Callis’s ass. Callis says that the Family is a family of champions and introduces Kevin Knight.
Knight says it took Fletcher long enough to bring gold to the Family, and now he is owed a World Title shot. He says he will be watching the world title match closely.
Andrade El Idolo interrupts the interview and comes to the stage. He says he was the best of the Family and Don messed up. Now, he promises he will take belts from him. Callus says if he wants a belt, he has to beat Jake Doyle for a shot at Mark Davis’s belt. Andrade asks, “How you know?” which still doesn’t make a damn bit of sense. Davis, Doyle, and Knight chase Andrade to the back, where Darby Allin attacks them.
They take Darby’s backpack and grab his skateboard, which is booby trapped has a flash, which allows Darby and Andrade to attack.
Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley vs The Already In The Ring Workhorsemen (Anthony Henry and JD Drake)
The Workhorsemen actually get some offense in, but at the end of the day they are just there for Will Ospreay and Mox to show their moves and work as a team. Drake takes the Paradigm Shift into a hidden blade from Mox and Ospreay, as Ospreay gets the pin and the win.
Winners: Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley
We get a hype video for Hikaru Shida as our new TBS Champion.
Thekla joins commentary and Mercedes Mone has a seat on the stage for the Casino Gauntlet match.
Athena and Maya World start the Casino Gauntlet match for a shot at the AEW Women’s World Champion.
They quickly get roll-ups for two counts on each other. They then throw hands in the middle of the ring. Maya gets a clothesline in the corner. Athena gets a leaping knee strike for two. Maya gets a running boot followed by a back suplex. Maya gets a moonsault from the top for two.
Skye Blue joins the match with a Kendo stick because there is no DQ.
Skye uses the kendo stick and then gets a swinging neckbreaker on Maya for two, broken up by Athena. Skye pulls Athena to the floor and charges at her on the floor. Athena gets a power slam into the steel steps on Skye as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Mina Shirakawa joins the match.
She takes down Athena and Skye, but it is quickly all four women fighting in the ring. Athena and Skye are sent to the floor, and Mina gets a tornado from the apron into the ring for two on Maya.
Rina from Stardom is next in the match
Rina and Mina throw hands in the middle of the ring.
Thekla is great on commentary as a tough woman who is kinda drunk on beach brinks.
Rina gets a suplex on Mina. Athena tries for a quick pin and gets two on Rina. Rina gets a shotgun dropkick on Athena and then works over Maya.
Julia Hart enters the match with a garbage can lid
Julia and Skye start beating up everyone, including security, and take Justin Roberts’s chair as we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Thunder Rosa joins the match.
She stops the rampage by Julia and Skye and sets the chair against Skye and gets a running dropkick into the chair. Rosa gets a Samoan Drop on Julia onto the trash can lid for two. Everyone starts brawling in the ring two by two, with Rosa and Rina fighting. Athena gets an O Face on Rosa for two, broken up by Mina. Athena covers Mina, and everyone breaks it up at two.
Willow Nightingale joins the match.
Willow is back from injury, and she cleans house. It becomes Willow and Julia. They go back and forth. Willow is able to get a power bomb on Julia for the pin and the win.
Winner and getting the title shot at Redemption: Willow Nightingale
Thekla spears Willow after the match. On the stage, Divine Dominion attacks Julia and Skye. Mercedes Moné comes to the ring and attacks Thekla.
We then get a hype video for Jack Perry, who has resigned with AEW.
In the back, Speedball Mike Bailey announces he is going for Mark Davis’s National Championship on Saturday.
MJF (AEW World Champion) vs Kenny Omega - If Omega loses, he cannot challenge for the world championship ever again.
They charge at each other and throw hands to start the match. MJF gets an eye poke. Omega escapes out the back of a pickup and hits a German suplex. Omega tries for One Winged Angel, and they spill to the floor. MJF goes over the barricade into the crowd. Omega follows him, and they brawl in the crowd.
After Omega tosses MJF into the chairs, they brawl back to the ringside area. Omega tosses MJF over the barricade and then rolls MJF into the ring. Omega goes for the V Trigger, and MJF pulls the ref in the way, and then he bites Omega. They fight through the ropes. Omega shoves MJF back when MJF goes for a heat seeker. MJF gets a cutter for two after bringing Omega in with a rope snap.
They fight through the ropes again; Omega blocks a heat seeker, and crawls up the ramp. MJF follows him, and they fight on the stage. Omega goes up the lifeguard chair for a moonsault. Omega drags MJF back to the ring and goes to the top. Omega gets a dropkick, sending MJF to the floor. Omega hits the Terminator dive.
MJF is rolled into the ring, and Omega gets an over-the-top slam, followed by a neckbreaker. Omega goes for a V Trigger, and MJF gets a drop toehold into the ropes. Omega gets a snap dragon suplex. They run the ropes and clothesline each other down. Omega goes for a hurricanrana, and MJF makes it into a power bomb on the knee. MJF gets a double underhood package pile driver for two.
MJF takes apart the announce table and then goes to the apron, where he and Omega go back and forth. Omega gets a V Trigger, sending MJF off the apron into the desk, which collapses, and we go to picture-in-picture.
When we return to full screen, Omega drags MJF to the apron and tries for one winged angle, and MJF rakes Omega’s eyes. They go to the floor and brawl there. Omega hits You Can’t Escape on the floor using the barricade for his moonsault. MJF gets the knees up and hits a tombstone piledriver on a chair.
MJF starts selling his taped leg after the pile driver. They return to the ring and MJF sets for a heat seeker DDT, but Omega chives him off. Omega can’t hit a V Trigger at first but is able to get it the second time. Omega tries for the One Winged Angel again, and MJF starts to fight out, and Omega turns it into a German suplex. Omega gets a V Trigger to the back of MJF’s head. Omega is put on top, and Omega joins him. MJF gets a poisonrana from the top and then hits the Heat Seeker for two.
MJF rolls to the apron, then the floor. MJF grabs the tile belt and returns to the ring. The ref catches him, and when the ref takes the belt, MJF puts on the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Will Ospreay runs from the back and takes the ring off of MJF’s hand. Omega has the title but pulls up short, and MJF begs off. Omega tosses the belt, and MJF nails him with a low blow and covers for one.
Omega throws hands and hits two quick V Triggers. Omega hits a Third V Trigger and then hits One Winged Angel for the pin and the win.
