We take a look at how we got to tonight's Raw main event for the Smackdown World Championship.
Sami arrives and he sees Cody.
Sami says Cody feels great tonight because he can jump right in and take back his spot because Sami cannot win. Sami says he will walk out of Chicago still the WWE Champion.
Cody says he wanted to wish Sami luck.
Gunther attacks Cody and power bombs Cody through a table.
Gunther tells Sami that Cody is not his problem any more. You never should have won that title. I will come for you.
Gunther sends Cody into Sami's car.
Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring.
Seth welcomes everyone and reminds him who and what he is. Seth says he loves this building.
The crowd chants for CM Punk because they are in Chicago and Seth understands the requirement for the chant in the arena. He says he couldn't care less about that guy now. He says Punk is not his business now.
He says his business is the World Title and getting back the title he never lost. His business is beating Roman Reigns and continuing to own him. Seth acknowledges the Roman chants and he says that Roman is not here tonight. Seth says he has run that play a million times. That is how it is. Roman did not come here because either it does nothing for him or the check is not big enough. That is who Roman is. That is who he has always been. From day one, Roman has been the chosen one. Nobody wants to hold Roman accountable, ever. The Shield debuted as a trio. There were three of them and it was made abundantly clear that Roman was the chosen one. Roman was going to be the guy on the marquee. He was going to be the main guy and he would main event Wrestlemania. It didn't matter if Roman couldn't cut a promo or wrestle his way out of a paper bag, it was always going to be Roman.
Seth says that didn't sit right with him. Seth mentions some children in the crowd and he says he was that boy. He says he sat in these stands and all he wanted to do was walk down that ramp, hold the microphone in his hand, and main event Wretlemania. Seth says he wanted to be the biggest star in the industry. To see those dreams handed off to someone else broke something iin him. Every decision he made after that was in direct response to having his dreams handed off to someone who did not deserve.
Seth says when he broke up the Shield, it was to catch up to Roman. When he cashed in at Wrestlemania, it was to stay close to Roman. That might sound petty and it was. Seth says he believed if he put in the work and sacrificed, he could still achieve those dreams. He thought they were running the same race, but he was wrong. Seth says it occurred to him a few years back that Roman said something about him that changed him. Roman admitted that he worked ten times less than Seth and made ten times more than Seth. Seth says Roman said that bulls**** with so much bravado he wanted to puke. Seth says it was never about making money and living in a mansion on South Beach. The reward was the work. It was the hustle. It was the grind. It was the ability to make something of yourself. Roman has to beat him at SummerSlam.
He has to do it because Roman needs to justify what he has been trying to prove to himself for the last fifteen years. He needs to prove he is not a fraud. Seth says he needs to beat Roman just as much. He needs to prove to himself that through hard work and sacrifice and dreams, you can achieve greatness.
LA Knight interrupts.
Knight wants to talk to ya. He says there was no way for two weeks in a row he was going to sit back there again. Last week, Roman came out and bored everyone to sleep and then you came out to put them to sleep together with the same old trash. You are bloviating all over each other. All you had to do was talk about how great you two were and you got a title shot. Knight says you had to win matches and tournaments to get title matches. You lost in the first round of the King fo the Ring Tournament. Knight says he did too, but he didn't make a challenge to Roman Reigns for nostalgia sake.
Knight imitates Seth and Roman and wants to know what they are the greatest at. Knight says he has not been here as long as Seth and you have had so many title matches and he will not catch up. Knight says when business was picking up it wasn't Seth and Roman on top. Cody deserves some credit, but you heard everyone saying his name. Knight says he was making his rise and then you and Roman cut him off. Now Roman is trying to stuff him back to the bottom. You want to talk about what is great. You are great at manipulating numbers. Knight says he will rise because he must rise.
Seth asks if Knight is done.
Seth says he doesn't like Knight. He says he respects him. You are an example of everything he described. You are hustle and hard work. Your time will come, but Seth says he cannot worry about Knight because he has to go to SummerSlam and win a title he never lost. If you want, you can challenge him after he wins the title and you can be the first person put in the dirt.
Knight watches Seth go to the back and he turns around into a super kick from Jimmy Uso.
Adam tells Gunther his meeting with Nick Aldis is off for what happened.
Gunther tells Nick he was a failure as a wrestler and now he is a failure as an authority figure.
Nick and Adam argue over Adam stealing the Smackdown main event for Raw.
Nick says Adam is doing a crappy job because Cody got attacked and it is on you.
Jackie Redmond is with Austin Theory, Bron Breakker, and Logan Paul.
She asks Logan about the pressure tonight.
Paul Heyman shows up and he asks Jackie to vamoose.
Paul tells Bron he didn't take out Seth Rollins. Austin couldn't take out Joe Hendry. Come back with something worthy of your wise man or don't come back.
Match Number One: Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins versus Austin Theory and Bron Breakker for the Raw Tag Team Championship
Bron and Ford start things off and Bron runs Ford into the turnbuckles and connects with shoulders. AUstin tags in and he hitsa back breaker. Bron with a moonsault and Austin gets a near fall. Theory sends Ford into the turnbuckles. Austin with an Irish whip and Ford floats over and he flips across ther ing and htis a drop kick. Dawkins tags in and Dwskins with a shoudler tackle and then Dawkins flips Ford onto Austin for a near fall. Dawkins with a side head lock and Dawkins with a flying corkscrew elbow for a near fall. Dawkins with a front face lock and Austin backs Dawkins into the corner and connects with shoulders.
Boon tags in and he punches Dawkins. Angelo with a kick and drop kick. Dawkins with a kick to Bron and a punch to AUstin on the apron. Bron with a WARP clothesline. Bron with a punch and kicks in the corner. Austin tags in and he snap mares Dawkins and he kicks Dawkins. AUstin punches Ford and that fordes the referee to stop Ford while Bron and Austin double team ADawkins with kicks. Bron tags in and he kicks Dawkins. Bron mocks Ford and he applies a rear chin lock. Dawkins with elbows and Bron stops Dawkins from making the tag. BRon with a back drop and he taunts Ford. Austin tags in and they hit a double back elbow for a near fall. Austin with a suplex and he sets for a second one but Dawkins with a suplex. Forod and Bron tag in and Ford with a clothesline to Austin over Bron. Ford with a clothesline and thrust kick. Ford with a kick and Bron flips Ford to his feet and Ford with an enzuigiri. Bron sedns Ford to the apron and Ford with a kick. Ford with a cross body and he gets a near fall.
Bron with a pop up power slam and Austin tags in. Ford with a jumping knee to Austin and Dawkins tags in. Ford with a Doomsday Blockbuster and Dawkins gets a near fall. Bron sends Ford over the top rope to the floor. Dawkins with a twisting splash and kick to Bron. Dawkins with a twisting butterfly neck breaker. The referee takes Logan's brass knuckles from Austin. Bron is handed brass knuckles and Dawkins punches Bron. Ford with a flip dive over the ring post to the floor. Dawkins gets the brass knuckles from Theory and Logan yells at the referee.
Maxxine Dupri shows up and she hits Dawkins with a low blow and Austin gets the three count.
Winners: Austin Theory and Bron Breakker (new champions)
After the match, Maxxine and Theory kiss.
The doctor checks on Cody and he says he needs more tests.
Adam says he cannot let Cody wrestle if he cannot be cleared. He asks if more tests can be done.
Byron Saxton is in the interstitial interview area and he brings out Joe Hendry.
Byron asks about the tag title match.
Joe says there are three unfortunate realities. Death, taxes, and the Vision doing anything to win. He says he is shocked at what Maxxine did.
Byron asks when does Joe earn gold.
Joe says he pinned Austin Theory last week. He has gotten to Logan Paul.
Joe sings his Logan Paul song.
He says he was a champion everywhere he wrestled before. He wants the Intercontinental Championship. That is not too big a hill to climb. That is not impossible. Joe says he believes and they believe. Whoever he has to face, you are facing the entire world chanting that they believe.
We see AUstin, Bron, Logan, and Maxxine celebrate in the back.
Logan rambles about how great they are and they walk up to Paul.
Paul says that was the first step and only a first step. Paul says he is being too harsh. At least someone got something accomplished tonight.
Austin thanks Paul.
Paul tells Austin he was talking to her.
They get into their vehicle and drive away.
Otis and Tozawa appear in the garage and they are not sure of what they saw.
We take a look at what happened between Iyo Sky and Liv Morgan last week.
Liv tells Raquel this is her night and they have all the momentum. They took care of Iyo and sent a message to Danhausen. They will do everything in their power to make sure that Raquel is the Intercontinental Champion.
Raquel says she will rip that title from Sol's waist. She will be champion.
We have a Number One Contender's Gauntlet next week with Chad Gable, Je'Von Evans, Dominik Mysterio, Dragon Lee, Joe Hendry, Rusev, and Ethan Page.
Jackie is with Penta.
She asks about the number one contender match for next week.
Penta is interrupted by Ethan Page and Rusev.
Page says you will not get to mention Rey's name. Rey is out of the gauntlet and on the shelf.
Dragon Lee shows up and he says he better not talk that way about Rey.
Chad Gable shows up and Rusev asks if there is a problem.
Page says we will get to Rusev's job but he will talk to Pearce about a tag match.
Penta tells them to go out with Cero MIedo
Match Number Two: Sol Ruca versus Raquel Rodriguez for the Women's Intercontinental Championship
They lock up and Raquel backs Sol into the corner and gives a clean break. They lock up and Raquel backs Sol into the ropes. Raquel with a clean break but she misses a clothesline Sol with a side head lock and she goes for a side head lock take down off the turnbuckles but Raquel blocks it. Raquel with an arm wringer for a near fall. Raquel gets a few near falls and Sol bridges and she gets a sunset flip but Raquel rolls through. Raquel tries to push Sol off the ropes but Sol with a body scissors. Sol with a slingshot move and she lips on the ropes. Raquel with snake eyes. Raquel with elbows in the corner. Raquel gets Sol up for a slam but Sol escapes and sends Raquel into the turnbuckles. Sol drops down and Raquel goes to the floor. Sol misses a moonsault from the corner. Sol with a cartwheel to avoid being sent into the apron. Sol with a twisting Asai moonsault.
Sol with a near fall when they return to the ring. Sol with a springboard move but Raquel goes for a choke slam and Sol lands on her feet. Raquel with a clothesline for a near fall. Raquel chokes Sol in the ropes. Raquel with an Irish whip and splash into the corner. Raquel with a slam. Raquel with another slam. Raquel kicks Sol in the ribs.Raquel with the lawnmower elbows in the corner. Raquel with an abdominal stretch. Raquel with a shoulder tackle and elbow drop for a near fall. Raquel with a Canadian back breaker to Sol and Raquel runs Sol into the turnbuckles and Raquel with shoulders to the back. Sol with punches from the turnbuckles.
Sol with a sunset flip and Raquel rolls through. Sol with a springboard cross body for a near fall. Sol with punches and kicks. Sol with uppercuts. Sol with a flying shoulder tackle or two and Raquel stays on her feet. Sol misses a splash in the corner but Sol with a missile drop kick. Sol with a Shining Wizard for a near fall. Sol misses a springboard splash and Raquel with a clothesline for a near fall. Roxanne Perez makes her way to ringside. Sol escapes a Tejana Bomb. Perez distracts the referee. Sol goes for Sol Snatcher but Liv Grabs Sol. Raquel with a side slam for a near fall.
Iyo Sky's music plays and Iyo with a cross body off the ringside barrier to Perez and a back heel kick to Liv. Iyo with an Asai moonsault onto Liv and Perez as Raquel carges at her.
Sol with a Sol Snatcher for the three count.
Winner: Sol Ruca (retains championship)

Byron brings out the current Interstitial chamipon Je'Von Evans to talk.
Byron asks Evans about his match next week.
Evans says Byron didn't have to bring up his loss at King of the Ring. Evans says he felt like he wasn't ready to be on Raw but Adam Pearce called him to be part of the gauntlet. Evans says anybody who stands in front of him and he will take care of them and he will be coming for Penta at SummerSlam.
Paul Heyman comes out and introduces himself. He says he came out to talk about Oba Femi. Oba came to WWE like he owned the joint, which he doesn’t. He saunters down the aisle like he is King Shlong until he got kicked in the little Femis. It waters up your eyes and your knees go together and you voice gets a little high. That is nothing like the pain he is going to suffer inside Hell in a Cell.
Paul says Oba Femi has motivated Brock Lesnar. Oba has made the biggest mistake of his life by accepting the challenge of Brock Lesnar. You are not coming out of Hell in a Cell, Oba. Brock will destroy Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell.
Paul tosses the mic and . . .
The lights go out for Oba Femi to make his way to the ring.
Oba says Paul loves to talk so much. Oba says that is why he came out. He didn’t want Paul to be lonely. He wanted to give Paul a face to talk to.
Paul says Oba learned last week talk s*** get hit. Paul says he states facts. He says he is valuable because he keeps people from making bad mistakes. At Wrestlemania, you didn’t make a mistake. You showed that Brock was beatable. In Italy, Brock proved that Oba is beatable too. Now comes the trilogy match to find out which one of you continues to be that unbeatable superstar. Let’s look at who is stepping into Hell in a Cell. You are stepping into Hell in a Cell with Brock Lesnar.
Paul says no one fights in a cage like Brock. He beat Undertaker in Hell in a Cell, the Undertake’s match. He beat Undertaker twice. You didn’t accept to step inside a cage, you accepted to enter the cell, the Brock-tagon. Brock is the bringer of pain, the beast you cannot beat, the mountain you cannot climb. Only one man will leave SummerSlam and that cell with their reputation intact. That man is not a man, he is a beast and his name is Brock Lesnar. The beatable one will be Oba Femi.
Paul tosses his mic again.
Oba says that Brock showed up last week and that tells him that after weeks and weeks of calling him out and calling him names to no avail, he finally shows up. That tells him that every word got to Brock. Every single thing he said about him got under his skin. He can act like he doesn’t watch the show. Him showing up means he watches the show. You are here to talk about how great Brock is to do damage control, but you are writing checks that Brock cannot cash. You are not an advocate, you are a mouth. Mouths need to be fed, but how can you feed with no head. You preach Brock’s accolades but the people he beat before are not Oba Femi. You are here because you are scared. You are scared and you are here for damage control. Oba says this is the end. This is the final chapter. This is where the book closes.
What bigger stage than SummerSlam in front of his friends, family, his wife, and his children. He is what stands between Oba and salvation. You have to walk through hell to get to heaven. Tell your client, he will see him in hell.
Oba tosses his mic.
Jackie is with Sami Zayn in the back.
She mentions Sami’s scheduled match, but Cody is not able to compete tonight. She asks for a reaction.
Sami starts to smile and he says that is terrible. They have their differences but Sami says he is a good guy. He wishes no ill will against anyone. He says he was looking forward to facing Cody. Now he can wait until Smackdown.
Pearce mentions they are in Chicago and they promised him a title match. Pearce tells Sami that he will be defending the title tonight and it is official.
Match Number Three: Dragon Lee and Chad Gable versus Rusev and Ethan Page
Rusev and Page attack Chad and Lee before the bell rings and Rusev chokes Lee. Page tags in and he kicks Lee. Page with a boot to the head and kick to the back. Rusev tags in and punches Lee and hits a suplex. Rusev with another suplex. Lee drop kicks Page off the apron and avoids Rusev. Chad tags in and hits two German supplex. Rusev with elbows but Chad with overhead belly-to-belly suplexes to Rusev and Page. Chad with an ankle lock to Rusev followed by a back body drop. Chad sends Lee into page with a flying boot. Rusev pulls Page to the floor. Chad tosses Lee over the top rope onto Page and Rusev.
Rusev with a suplex. Page tags in and he gets a few near falls. Page with a reverse chin lock on Chad. Chad with punches to try to escape and he follows with a chop. Page iwth a knee to the midsection and a kick to the back. Rusev tags in and he connects with shoulders in the corner. Rusev chokes Chad in the ropes. Page punches Chad when the referee pulls Rusev off the ropes. Rusev knocks Lee off the apron. Chad with chops and he goes for a cross body but Rusev catches Chad and hits a fallaway slam. Page tags in and he kicks Chad. Rusev tags in and he kicks Chad. Rusev with a short arm clothesline and a second one. Rusev with another clothesline. Rusev goes Chong Li and he Irish whips Chad into the corner but Chad gets his boot up and he elbows Page and punches Rusev. Rusev keeps Chad from making the tag. Chad with a DDT
Page and Lee tag in and Lee with a sliding kick to Ruesv and he avoids Page and kicks Page and then Lee with a slingshot kick in the corner. Lee with a tornado DDT and he puts Page in the tree of woe. Lee with a double stomp and he gets a near fall. Rusev tags in and he has Page try for a double suplex but Chad catches Lee and he punches Rusv and hits an Olumpic slam on Page. Rusev with a thrust kick to Chad but Lee with a rollup for a near fall. Lee with a German suplex and a thrust kick. Lee goes up top and he is caughty by Rusev for a uranage and a running thrust kick. Rusev with an Accolade and Lee taps out.
Winners: Ethan Page and Rusev
After the match, Rusev refuses to release the hold and Chad tries for a Germna suplex but Page hits Chad from behind. Page and Rusev attack Chad and Rusev with an Accoldate on Chad.
Joe Hendry comes tohte ring and he connects with European uppecuts to Page. Rusev with a forearm and Joe send Rusev to the floor. Joe with a Fallaway slam and the MEME turn. Joe sets for Standing Ovation but Rusev with a thrust kick. Page with a fisherman's suplex. Rasev applies the Accolade to Joe.
They get Rusev off Joe and Rusev reapplies the hold.
We take a look back at what happened last week with Jimmy Uso and LA Knight.
JImmy Uso is walking outside the arena and Jackie stops him to ask what happened earlier with LA Knight.
Jimmy says it is time for him to step up for the group. He will face Solo on Smackdown.
LA Knight comes out and he is stopped by Jacob Fatu.
Adam Pearce is on the phone leaving a message for someone.
Byron is with Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriugez, and Liv Morgan.
Byron asks about the match between Raquel and Sol and the group's momentum.
Liv says they are the greatest faction of all time. She says she is disappointed in Iyo Sky. This is Raquel's night. She was supposed to be the champion. Raquel tells Sol and Iyo it is not over until they say it is over. She will not stop until she gets what belongs to her.
Roxanne says Iyo wanted to make a statement tonight and next week she will make a statement and Iyo won't make it to SummerSlam.
Bayley says Lyra waited for hours to meet Bayley at a signing and we got to talk about your career. She became a fan of hers and was her friend. When she had the hardest year of her career, it was you Lyra who kept her level headed. You kept her strong. She shared her experiences and stories with you and she says she thought it guided her, but you used it against her. You took the easy way out. She is going to give Lyra one chance to prove she is not everyone else. She tells Lyra to meet her next week.
Next week, on Raw, Brock Lesnar will be there. The Number One Contender's Gauntlet will take place. Iyo Sky faces Roxanne Perez. Roman Reigns will be on Raw.
Adam Pearce is on his phone and Nick Aldis shows up and Pearce wants to know what Nick wants.
Nick says that is a strange way to say thank you. Nick says he secured a replacement for Sami's opponent and he is in the building. He says Adam can tell him thank you.
Rusev and Ethan Page are with Byron and Rusev yells about what he is going to do since they won tonight.
Page tells everyone since they won, this is where you cheer. Page says he was proud to injure Rey and then you not only one up him, you not only two up him, you three up him. They took care of the other options in the gauntlet.
Rusev says he would have ripped off Penta's mask.
Page asks Penta and the fans iif they enjoyed the show. The same thing that happened tonight will happen next week.
Byron asks what happens if they face off in the match.
Page says the best man will win and Page says to trust him.
JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio say they don't care who Danhausen's back up is and he will desteoy Danhausen and put him in the bin. Dom tells Danhausen to give him their money back and uncurse JD. Give them what they want or they will make Danhausen's life a living hell.
Match Number Four: Sami Zayn versus fCM Punk or the WWE Championship
Sami pie faces Punk as the referee tries to separate them before the match.
The bell rings and Punk gives his shirt to a fan. He returns to the ring and they lock up. Punk with a side head lock. Punk with a shoulder tackle. They go for a test of strength and Sami with a side head lock. Sami with a chop. THey lock up and Punk with a shoulder and chop followed by a snap mare and chop to the back. Sami backs Punk into the corner and connects with shoulders. Sami punches Punk. Punk with a reverse atomiic drop and Punk with punches in the corner. Sami with a forearm to the back to send Punk to the apron. Sami drops Punk on the top rope. Sami sets for a dive to the floor but Punk trips Sami and pulls him to the floor. Punk sends Sami into the apron and Punk with a suicide dive.
Punk chops Sami and sends him intot he ring. Punk with a side Russian leg sweep and he floats over for a near fall. Sami with a reverse atomic drop and a clothesline. Sami with a punch and he gets a near fall. Sami with more punches. Sami with chops. Sami sends Punk into the turnbuckles. Sami sets for a suplex and Punk blocks it and Sami blocks a suplex attempt. They go back and furth until Punk hits the suplex. Punk runs into a boot in the corner. Sami with an elbow to the top of the head. Sami kicks Punk in the head a few times. Punk with a punch and Sami with his own punch and a knee to the head. Sami sends Punk into the turnbuckles and Sami with a double sledge off the turnbuckles for a near fall.
Sami with a reverse chin lock. Punk gets Sami up but Sami gets back to his feet. Punk with two clotheslines and a leg lariat. Punk with a running knee into the corner and he tries for the bulldog but Sami escapes. Punk with a swinging neck breaker for a near fall. Punk signals and he tries to get Sami up but Sami escapes and Punk blocks a Blue Thunder Bom. Punk with a clothesline for a near fall. Punk goes up top and he sets for an elbow drop but Sami stops Punk. Sami sets for a superplex and he hits it. Sami goes to the turnbucklesand Punk with a drop kick when Sami comes off. Punk gets a near fall. Punk goes up top and he hits a cross body for a near fall.
Punk punches Sami and Sami punches back. Punk with a Mongolian chop and forearms. Both men with cross body presses at the same time and they both go down. Sami and Punk exchange punches. Punk gets Sami pu and Sami with an elbow to escape. Punk avoids a Blue Thundr Bom and Punk with a round kick and a running knee into the corner. Sami counters the bulldog with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Sami says something to Punk and he sets for the exploder into the turnbuckles but Punk with elbows and knees. Punk with a knee and bulldog. PUnk goes up top for the elbow drop and he connects and gets a near fall. Punk with an Anaconda Vice and Sami tries to escape but Punk applies more pressure.
Sami with a head scissors to escape and then Punk goes for a Sharpshooter but Sami with boots to teh head. Punk gets Sami up but Sami escapes and gets a near fall with a victory roll. Punk with punches and Sami punches back. PUnk gets Sami u and Sami gets Punk up and Sami with a GTS to PUnk for a near fall. Sami sets for a Helluva Kick. Punk with an exploder into the turnbuckles. Punk sets for a Helluva Kick and Sami gets Punk up for a GTS and a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Punk slaps Sami and head butts him. Sami with more slaps and punches. Punk with a jab and chop. Punk with more punches. Punk with an Irish whip and a running knee. Sami misses a Helluva Kick. Punk with a Helluva Kick to Sami and GTS for the three count.
Winner: CM Punk (new champion)
Punk celebrates in the ring as pyro goes off in the arena.
