AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2026-07-01 22:24:00

AEW Dynamite is live from the Viejas Arena in San Diego, CA. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, and Nigel McGuinness.

We start with footage after Forbidden Door recorded with Renee Paquette who is with Will Ospreay and his wife Alex Windsor. They are interrupted by Jon Moxley, who checks in with him and Will then asks what Mox meant when he said is starting to see it in Will. Mox says he meant that he who defines himself can never know who he really is. If he wants to know who he is, he has to live it. Mox says AEW could be something great.  The business is full of carnies and thieves and it’s up to them to protect this place.

Mox then says they took a vote on it, and they are offering him membership in the Death Riders.

Will then sees Kenny Omega, who tells him what he did was next level. Will says he sees Kenny looking at the Death Riders insignia, and just because Kenny has given up on himself doesn’t mean he has given up on his dream.  MJF then says he will see Will at Wembly, Bruv.

Kenny says he will always be Will’s friend and he will always care.

MJF (AEW World Champion) vs Mark Briscoe

MJF dodges the lockup and then grabs a side headlock. Mark shoots him off into the ropes and gets a pop-up slam. MJF dodges a charge from Mark and gets a pile driver for two. MJF bites Mark’s wound from Sunday night. Mark is busted open again, and MJF uses fingernails on it. He hits a back body drop, MJF whips Mark across the ring for another back body drop. MJF does it again, but Mark lands on his feet and hits a series of palm strikes into the corner.

Mark gets a suplex, a Death Valley Driver, and then goes to the top. MJF knocks the top rope to knock Mark down. MJF joins Mark on top and Mark bites MJF and knocks him to the mat with a head butt, followed by Froggie Bo for two. MJF fights out of the Jay Driller, sets up and wrenches Mark’s arm, sending him to the mat. Mark sends MJF to the floor and dives onto him.

Mark throws a chair into the ring for a launching pad. Mark hits an over the top cannonball onto MJF. Mark pulls a table out from under the ring. MJF is whipped into the steel steps and Mark uses his recovery to set up the table. Mark knocks MJF in the head onto the table and Mark goes to the top. MJF pops up and slams Mark onto the apron before taking the table apart. MJF then shoves the table back under the ring as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, they are throwing hands in the ring and Mark clotheslines MJF to the floor. Mark pulls up the mat, exposing the concrete floor, and tries for the Jay Driller on the concrete. MJF escapes by hitting a back body drop. They go back and forth, with Mark finally getting a scoop slam on the floor. Mark drops the elbow from the apron onto MJF on the floor. MJF is rolled into the ring and Mark gets the cutthroat driver for two.

They fight to the apron and Mark gives MJF a headbutt to send him to the floor again. Mark pulls out the table again and sets it up. He charges at MJF, who gets a drop toe hold on Mark into a chair. MJF charges at Mark and Mark gets a hand thrust into MJF and then hits a neckbreaker on the floor.

Blows are traded and Mark gets a running lariat and goes to the top.

Mark hits a flying elbow and then gets the double underhook and hits a Jay Driller for two. Mark pulls MJF to the top for an avalanche Jay Driller but MJF gets an eye poke to escape. MJF sets for a heat seeker, but Mark escapes. MJF gets a rollup for two and mark reverses for two. MJF is able to escape a Jay Driller into a wheelbarrow slam. He then hits Mark with a heat seeker for the pin and the win.

Winner and still AEW World Champion: MJF

MJF charges into Mark with the Dynamite Diamond after the match and then chases off the medical staff. As he sets to nail Mark again, Kenny Omega comes to the ring to chase MJF off.

Omega grabs a mic and says if he cheated his way through Briscoe, he would be knocking down MJF’s door. Omega says if MJF has enough energy to attack Mark, maybe he’s got enough energy for another match. MJF then heels California, Mark, and tells Omega he will not wrestle again. He also says Omega is stupid if he thinks he should get another shot since he has beaten Omega twice and kicked out of the One Winged Angel.

MJF then says he had a big idea, he will wrestle Omega next week, and if MJF wins, Omega can never be able to become AEW Champion again, just like Hangman Adam Page.

Renee is in the back with MJF, and he says that payback is coming to Andrade El Idolo. He then says he is ready to face Kenny Omega next week as he goes over the list of the people he has beaten. He says Omega is zero and two against Big Hebrew, and the best wrestler in the world is MJF. AND Omega will not agree to the match because he is gutless. Will Ospreay asks why the stipulation.

MJF says it is because he is the champion and he will see Will’s pale behind in Wembley.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to talk to Andrade El Idolo.  Andrade says he is done with the Don Callis Family; it’s time to take out MJF and become the new AEW World Champion. He gets out his “How you know” catchphrase before the Don Callis Family comes from the back to attack. Brian Cage hits a drill claw on Andrade in the middle of the ring.

Don Callis has a mic and tells us this is how you know. He then says they need to get this turncoat out of his sight because Kevin Knight has a match to win.

We get a promo from Mercedes Mone on the beach, and she reminds us no one is on her level and she always raises the standard. She says at All IN London it’s the last piece of what is already hers.

Kevin Knight (AEW TNT Champion) vs Blackheart Lio Rush

Don Callis joins commentary. Rush comes to the ring with a backpack.

The referee shows the belt to Rush and Knight snatches it away, and the crowd chants for Lio.

Lio tells Knight to open the bag. Knight grabs the bag and shakes it before opening it. In the bag is a black Ring of Honor title belt, and Lio gets a rollup for two. They battle to the corner where Lio is biting Knight’s leg. Lio gets chops in the ropes on Knight. Knight is whipped to the ropes, and Jake Doyle pulls Knight out of the ring to regroup. Lio gallops around the ring for a dive as we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Knight gets a big boot in the corner and hits a spinning backbreaker for two. Lio knocks down Knight twice, and Knight is selling a knee. Lio gets an insigiri and covers for two. Lio gets a bridging front chinlock and Knight is pulled out of the ring by Doyle. Lio dives onto Doyle and runs him into the ringpost. Knight dives from the apron and rolls Lio into the ring. He hits a springboard lariat. Lio gets a spinning takedown for two. Knight spikes Lio and then slams him for the pin and the win.

Winner and still TNT Champion: Kevin Knight

We then hear Darby Allin’s music and Darby comes to the stage with a mic. He says he thinks he has Kevin’s attention, and he wants a TNT Championship match. If Knight says no, what happened at Forbidden Door will keep happening. Knight started it, and how will Knight finish it? Knight says he is sick of dealing with Darby, and Callis takes the mic away from Knight. Callis says Darby was a great wrestler and a great champion, but at Forbidden Door, he crossed the line from wrestler to criminal, so he will never get a match with Knight as long as he has something to say about it.

Darby has a smile on his face and says Knight has dug his grave. Don rants at Darby as Darby leaves.

We get a video update on the feud between Chris Jericho and Tommaso Ciampa. We then get Ciampa with Renee, but Jericho attacks him, and they brawl to the outside. Security tries to break them up, but Ciampa attacks the security people and grabs a drill. They fight some more until they are pulled apart.

Renee talks with The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, and they say they are discussing if Kenny should accept the stipulation. He says when he was champion, he needed help and he had to go to a dark place, and he didn’t like himself, so if he does it this time, he has to do it alone.

Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley vs the Already in the Ring Lee Johnson and Blake Christian

Blake hits Mox with a chop block before the bell, and Johnson stomps Mox down in the corner. Mox is able to start firing back and gets ten in the corner, but Johnson hits a monkey flip on Blake into Mox. Mox is able to tag in Ospreay, and he runs wild until we go to picture-in-picture.

When we return to full screen, Mox has been kept in the ring as Johnson and Blake have cut the ring in half. Jay Lethal on the floor trips Mox, and this causes Marina Shafir to hit him with a suplex. Mox gets a clothesline on Blake and tags in Ospreay, who runs wild again. Mox hits a Paradigm Shift on Johnson, followed by Ospreay getting a Hidden Blade for the pin and the win.

Winners: Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley

We get Lexi Nair with Cope and Cage after Forbidden Door, and Cage asks what is going on with Jay White. Cope says Jay owed him a favor and now he paid them back. Cage says he has a problem with White and still does.

Jay White and the rest of the Bang Bang Gang then come to the ring, and he has something to tell us after being out injured for over a year. He reminds us he was out 459 days and calls for guns up. Her says when he left, people wanted to escape the Death Riders, and now they like them, and they are running with the biggest fraud in the industry, Will Ospreay.

He then puts over his team. He says he sees someone left the Dogs out. He says he has a long history with David Finlay Jr. and David is a naturally gifted and talented wrestler. However, it doesn’t change the fact that  David is a nepo baby bitch boy. The crowd chants Nepo Baby and Jay tells them to wait until David is out there to chant him. He says the stench of David’s arrogance has been here far too long, and he will get rid of that smell.

Jay puts himself over, and says Sunday was the beginning and this is the Switchblade era.

Next is a promo from Shane Taylor, and he says they are a new gang that runs Collision and they challenge the Bang Bang Gang for a match on Collision.

Kris Statlander vs Maika vs Harley Cameron vs Persephone vs Queen Aminata vs Hikaru Shida - For the vacant TBS Title - Survival of the Fittest

Shida gets a rollup on Maika for the pin.

Maika has been eliminated.

Kris gets to the apron, and there are no rope breaks. Persephone uses the belt to nail Kris, and Shida holds on as Kris is knocked out.

Winner and NEW TBS Champion: Hikaru Shida

Excalibur runs down the card for tomorrow night’s episode of Collision. As Kenny is on his way to the ring, Ospreay tries to talk him out of facing MJF. Omega says if he is going out, he is going out guns blazing. They hug, and Omega makes his way to the ring. Omega says he has been doing this for 30 years, and every time he gets in the ring, he gives everything he has. He then says he could call it a career, but there is a part of him that thinks he still has something left in the tank. But if everyone can believe just one more time, he can be a champion everyone can be proud of.

He can stand in Wembley Stadium and face Will Ospreay, but if he loses, he becomes just another man who cannot challenge for the belt again. He says the cost is not too high. He asks if MJF wants him to put everything on the line; there is a possibility he is still the best bout machine, the cleaner, the God of Professional Wrestling.

He says having one more chance to beat the brakes off of him it get the blood flowing, so he will face MJF next week.

MJF attacks him from behind and starts beating him down with the Dynamite Diamond. Omega is able to turn it around, and they have a pull-apart brawl.
