Just finished watching SD, so here we go;
1. Tiffany takes a loss again, wow....
I'm glad that B-Fab and Michin aren't just fodder and losing all the time, which would weaken their group as a whole. That is something that would happen in the past, no doubt. BUT, we now get the other booking trope from the past, with the secondary champion losing (again). I think was an easy call for the Jade interference causing a DQ. Chelsea runs out for the save and we get the same story advancement. Do you agree with Stratton taking another loss, and I guess she has to win tomorrow, right? I mean, Jade got the better of her in two different segments.
I didn’t mind it in the moment as it advanced a few storylines in the process. But the caveat is that I felt that way because I thought Tiffany would retain her Title on the PLE, which she did. If she lost yesterday then I would have hated it in retrospect.
2. Solo Sikoa/LA Knight exchange; I'm more interested in Solo Sikoa than I've ever been. He was great in his delivery, and it was really enjoyable. I hope this is a start to rehab him and turn him back into a force. The whole segment was by the numbers, but I liked it. What did you think?
I have said for a while now that they dropped the ball with Solo after he lost to Roman Reigns on the first Netflix Raw. I agree, that was a good segment and he has a lot to offer. I am glad they broke him away from The MFTs. I hope he is going to get a push on his own. He’s an engaging character.
And do you see a good pattern developing with heels turning babyface where they are all trying to explain themselves in some form or another? (Gable, Rollins and now Solo).
As someone who cares about the WHY aspect of wrestling, yes I love explanations!
3. I’ve listened to your audio segments regarding Oba Femi and his eventual rise to the world or WWE titles. And I agree with all your analysis. But, are we seeing a groundswell here and WWE is going to ride it right into Summerslam and put the title on him? Even going so far as to have him wrestle both nights?
I suggested that they could have him wrestle both nights a few weeks ago on an audio (I forget which one). I could see him wrestling Brock Lesnar on night one and winning, then going for the Title on night two and losing due to him having to work twice. That would be an acceptable way to keep him from beating whoever he faces, especially if it’s Roman Reigns.
I understand the argument for too much too soon, and once he’s on top, the only place to go is down. Is this a case like Goldberg in 1998, where he is just a juggernaut that cannot be stopped? Does Oba need the storyline hook of overcoming obstacles on his ascent to the title, or this a rare case of fans just wanting him to smash everything in his path and enjoy the destruction?
Goldberg is a good comparison. WWE has to be careful how they book Femi and there are definitely ways to do it where you keep him away from the Title for a while, and make the people demand the he wins the belt. Look at Cody. When he finally beat Roman, the fans lost their minds. I think the same thing can and should happen with Femi.
4. Did the final segment affect your picks for Saturday?
No, it didn’t. I expected them to keep it wide open, which they should.
