Over the last several days, there have been online reports (first popping up on social media and then parroted elsewhere) that TNA is on the market and is looking for a $30-$50 million price tag.
In speaking to several sources yesterday and today in both TNA and its parent company, Anthem Media, PWInsider.com is told that currently, the company is not up for sale and that Anthem has not been seeking a sale.
Anthem sources specifically denied the price tag making the rounds, describing it was "undervaluing" TNA as it currently exists.
Sources also denied reports that WWE would currently have the right of first refusal to match any offers for the company.
One source claimed the timing of the stories appeared to be aimed at "hurting the company" as it headed into Slammiversary and bemoaned the fact that "a social media account with no track record or real following threw out grandiose statements and everyone parroted it for no reason other than to grab attention for themselves."
They also pointed out that Anthem turned down Scott D'Amore when he offered to buy the company several years back.
So, take that for what it's worth.
