PWInsider.com has learned that Rachel Price has been given a default judgment against independent promotion ICW: No Holds Barred as the promotion has stopped responding and appearing before the United States District Court of New Jersey after their initial attorney removed himself from the case after moving outside of the area.
In the 2024 lawsuit, Price alleged she was working for the venue at a 6/25/22 ICW: NHB event when there was an announcement made that those with vehicles in a lot adjacent to the move their vehicles. Price claims she exited the venue via a side door to move her vehicle, but poor lighting, a lack of railing, no signage and a lack of employees stationed at the door caused her to fall from the landing to the floor below, at least three feet, where she was injured. Price has alleged she has permanent personal injuries and is suing for over $75,000.
Court records indicate that the parent company of the Heart Ballroom never responded and a summary judgment was ruled against them. Whether Price recovered any damages from them is unknown.
ICW: NHB did respond to the lawsuit, basically stating that any issues that happened were the responsibility of the venue, not them, as they had merely rented the space for the evening. On 1/29, ICW: NHB's attorney withdrew from the case as he had relocated. Since then, the court has not heard from anyone new representing the promotion and have not heard from its owner Danny "Demanto" Purdue either.
There had been a settlement conference set for 3/10 but no one representing ICW: NHB arrived for the conference.
The court advised on 4/30 that Price can request a summary judgment against ICW: NHB but would need to do so within 30 days of that advisement. Price did that and on 6/2, the Court informed Price she could file a motion of final judgment against ICW.
Purdue made reference to the lawsuit on the mic at an ICW: NHB event and social media a few months ago, implying that it could hurt the future of the promotion. Currently, the promotion still has live events in Atlantic City, Cambridge, MA and Red Bank, TN announced as scheduled for this summer and fall.
