For their final event on the Triller+ app, House of Glory held their "Inferno" event in the Logan Auditorium in Chicago.
The red-hot Joe Alonzo beat "Sweet Cheeks" Joey Silver in the opener. Fun match. Silver has a cool counter to the Tomikaze/Unprettier. Alonzo got a win over former TNA World champion Steve Maclin last week at Wrestling REVOLVER and now a win over a former HoG Cruiserweight champ, both following a win on TNA Xplosion a few weeks ago. Red hot.
Ring of Honor TV champion "The Blackheart" Lio Rush beat JJ Doze, Mickey G, Raheem Royal, former TNA X Division champion "Firestarter" Jake Crist (his first match in HoG in over 6 yrs), "The Nouveau Narcissist" Angel Jacquez in a 6 Way match. All action match as expected but an egregious missed shot with Royal doing something off the balcony. Rush got the win, putting Royal out with his innovative sleeper.
Mustafa Ali successfully retained the TNA International title against former TNA World champion Rich Swann. Strong, athletic match. Swann actually tried to have a dance-off with Ali. I guess he forgot Ali is a vicious heel. Ali did not forget. Ali showed a ton of respect to Swann after the bout, congratulating him on 2 yrs of sobriety.
Armaggeddon--Gringo Loco and Vengador (making his HoG debut) defeated Legacy Pro Wrestling (HoG's developmental promotion) tag champions Dual Focus--JJP, KB Prime. Good tag match. The younger team in Focus held up well with the veterans.
Ricky Sosa made his House of Glory debut, beating the legendary Amazing Red in a very entertaining match. Sosa worked a bit heel here and it was a good look for him. He's got a future as a heel down the road. Show of respect after the match.
Steph de Lander wanted the House of Glory Women's title given to her on a forfeit, assuming champion Shotzi Blackheart would not be able to make it due to being injured from an attack by SDL at the previous HoG event. She even wore an awesome "I Broke Shotzi's Arm" shirt, a callback to the Greg Valentine "I Broke Wahoo's Leg" shirt from the early 80s. Blackheart did appear, wearing a cast and starting a wild brawl, a brawl that again got lost on camera when they fought to the bar in the back of the venue. They found ways to use a steel chair in a standard match without getting disqualified.
Blackheart hit a spinning backfist with the casted arm won with a sleeperhold, using the cast for Blackheart then took off the cast, showing her arm wasn't broken. Clever. Blackheart has been looking sharp lately.
In the main event, "The Root of All Evil" Charles Mason retained the House of Glory Heavyweight title against the challenge of multi time/multi promotion former World champion "The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth, out to collect a title on his way to his Slammiversary World title match next weekend. Good, physical match that surprised me on how much Mason dominated the action. They had a spot that called back to Mason getting out of the previous title match in Logan Auditorium by feigning an injury. This got a lot of heat on the ref for stepping in (which technically he has to do) but it didn't work and nearly cost Mason as this wasn't Nemeth's first rodeo. Mason hit a low kick with the ref on the blind side of Nemeth and put the former Dolph Ziggler down with a Gotch-style Tombstone piledriver.
Entertaining card that had a lot going on but never felt overbooked. A couple horrific missed camera shots were the only real negatives.
